25.01.2022 Our little ones love to move their bodies and yoga is just one of the many opportunities they get to do so throughout the day at Senses ELC. The children love the classes as they learn so much while enjoying the benefits of understanding mindfulness as well. Happy Days

We know how great nourishing foods are, and here at Senses ELC, we include them in every meal. 23.01.2022 Native flora in Australia is so beautiful and we've loved learning about it over the past week. The children have observed the flowers closely, identifying shapes, textures and colours. Taking these ideas they've created some very special art for us. It's been a fabulous learning opportunity.

23.01.2022 We love dramatic play here at Senses ELC. It really brings such creativity and joy out in the children. This week our sequence involved pretending to be firefighters, putting out fires, rescuing the dolls and hearing sirens played out on the loud speaker. 23.01.2022 We love to use playdough here in the centre. It can be such an important learning tool for many reasons. One important reason is that it provides children the opportunity to gain strength and improve dexterity in their hands and fingers. This in turn is critical in their physical development for writing and drawing. We highly recommend families to use playdough at home as well!

At our numbers station there are a multitude of different ways for the children to become comfortable with the shapes and look of each number while counting them out. Everyone has a different approach to learning and we want to make sure it's super fun too!

21.01.2022 We're going under the sea this week in the nursery. The children were invited to explore the deep ocean the educators created for them. This safe dark space was designed in the cot room where the scene could be set for some exciting exploration. This activity was all about building imaginations and some sensory fun for our youngest little ones.

18.01.2022 The preschool children have recently been introduced to the work of Salvador Dali. An artist renowned as a surrealist, for his combining of fantasy and reality in his works. Using their own imaginations and the Dalis works as a stimulus, children have been interpreting his paintings and creating their own works and stories about things that are real and things that not.

This idea turned into a conversation of what it means to have a neighbour or someone living next door to you. To show their understanding in our discussion the children then built houses next to each other in our next activity. Learning is always fun at Senses ELC!

This week when the nursery children went on their outdoor adventure a bus driver, who was waiting with an empty bus asked if they wanted to have a look. So the children hopped on to see the bus before it had to leave again. What a treat for the little ones! 09.01.2022 We have started to introduce film making to the children! A stop motion app to be exact. It can change a moving image to animation. We had the children select a partner and one choose to be a storyteller and the other the cameraman. They used their characters to create a story. Sitting at the table, always under supervision of an educator, our little ones learn how to put their food in a bowl and have their lunch together.
