25.01.2022 To the WA Karate Community, Due to the growing concern around the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID19), the WAKF is reviewing a range of measures designed to en...sure the safety and well-being of the Karate community. We will continue to keep you updated as more information becomes available. While our events are well within the guidelines that the Government has outlined, we are still doing risk modelling to see if they proceed and if they do in what format. The Board has been getting regular updates from the Department of Local Government, and Sport and Cultural Industries, and continues to monitor the risk to Karate in WA. It is essential that as a Karate community, we apply a common sense, factual and practical approach to COVID-19. Over the coming days, the WAKF will release announcements as decisions are made. 14.01.2022 Dear WA Karate Community, As were sure youre all aware, the coronavirus (COVID-19) issue is impacting across all of our daily lives with the situation develop...ing and changing by the day. In the short-term, the following actions will take place; The State Championships scheduled for Sunday, March 22 will be postponed. Entry fees will be refunded. (The Board has explored several options around isolated scheduling, a closed event and also having only selected categories. This has taken additional time to consider all perspectives before reaching our decision. However, due to the current circumstances, the health and safety of the WA Karate community and the State take precedence.) The State Team and Awards Presentation dinner scheduled for Friday, March 27 will be postponed. The announcement of the State Team will be made via email. Any tickets already purchased will be refunded. The Board will continue to receive regular updates from the Department of Local Government, and Sport and Cultural Industries, and will continue to monitor the risk to Karate in WA. To individual associations and clubs, we ask you to follow Government advice/guidelines, which can change daily, taking all measures that are needed. The WAKF will release further announcements as decisions are made. We apologise for any inconvenience; however, were sure you can all appreciate the unprecedented situation and gravity. On behalf of the Board, may we thank the WA Karate Community for your support during this challenging time. WAKF Board #safetyandwellbeingforall
