25.01.2022 I love to try somewhere I haven’t been before and @cafekirra ticked that box for a little brunch. Coffee was good, it was from @byronbaycoffeecompany so I expected it to be good. I opted for the Veggie Patch for just $10 from the specials menu and it was a great choice too with grilled field Mushrooms, Roast Peppers, char grilled Eggplant, Zucchini, sun dried Tomatoes and grilled Halloumi Leaning over a little but it was propped so wasn’t going to fall over @asiarij...kaart had the Kirra Avo Smash which she was happy with and it looked great. 24.01.2022 How different can Gin look depending on the Botanical’s you use. At @wildflower_gin we got to make our own gin using the botanical’s that we select. They have the Juniper berries already soaked in ethanol and ready to go through the mini stills. It really is a Gin master class. It feels very much like a science experiment like back in high school, but a lot more fun. When we finish we have our own personal gin with it’s own taste and qualities. ... 22.01.2022 A little while back I ate locally in Mudgeeraba and haven’t had a chance to post some pictures yet. @mudjiravillageeatery certainly impressed me in the heart of Mudgeeraba village. The sort of spot you would imagine as an old style cafe doing what they always have. Quite the opposite, firstly they have adopted the COVID19 systems very well with the sign in and each table was disinfected before the next diner sat down with little signs to say Sanitised once it was done. Th...e food was also modern with some great healthy and interesting options. Jack seems to know everyone, I don’t personally know him but certainly see him each time I go to @chacha.japanese.restaurant This place was perfect for a quick dinner before the show at @pinkflamingogoldcoast I couldn’t go past the Salmon Sashimi, then the Karaage chicken salad was perfect for a light meal and the mixed Tempura was so yummy with plenty of Prawns & Veges. 20.01.2022 Found a little spot for brunch on Gympie street after we walked the National Park so we certainly deserved it. @moondoggyscafebar is by the entrance to @the_islander_noosa_resort and at the back of the cafe you can sit by a little pond which looks out over the Islanders swimming pool. It was quite idillic except for the loud hum of the fridge compressor. 17.01.2022 At last I got to @crewburleigh to try their Mojo Benny. -Braised Cuban Pulled Pork, Guacamole, Cheddar Waffles, Chipotle Hollandaise Sauce & Two Poached Eggs. 16.01.2022 Recently I found myself near Surfers Paradise and hungry. I swore I’d return for the Bug Bao bun’s at @madam_fu_modern_asian so took the opposite and did just that. With a Tempura battered Morton Bay Bug, Kaffir Lime Mayo, Baby Gem Lettuce and a drizzle of Sirracha these guys are heaven. You get two for $20 so enough to stop the hunger. 12.01.2022 My first time to @little_itoshin in Miami and we both enjoyed it. The food was #oishii meaning delicious in Japanese. Top right is the Wasabi Salmon Tartare & Crackling - the crackling was the Salmon skin and so crispy like a cracker. Next down was my favourite Okinomiyaki which is kind of a Japanese savoury pancake. 09.01.2022 Last night for a special dinner I booked into @yamagenjapanese which is at the @qtgoldcoast Swiping left we had the 1, Tuna Sashimi, 2, Wagyu Beef Kobe 6+ Tataki 3, King Brown Mushrooms, Truffled Hannah 4, Nasu Miso (eggplant ) 5, Skampi Tempura and 6, our dessert was the Zen Garden I have to say the dessert looked like a Zen garden and not really delicious. On the other hand cracking on those rocks and we found Cherry and also chocolate ice cream under the hard dark ch...ocolate, the soil was mixed with coconut and sesame and Yamamomo which I’m guessing was the jelly stuff. 08.01.2022 Last Sunday we had an Italian cooking class with Benita from @kilometre_zero_ which was in the home of Marj from @foodgoldcoast We got to see how to make Fettuccine from scratch as well as Bruschetta and Tiramisu before we enjoyed it all in a delicious lunch. These are a few of the pic’s from that morning ... Benita is very bubbly and talks easily as her background is in teaching. Her heritage is Italian and her recipe’s come from her Nona so you can’t get anymore authenti...c than that. Benita has started teaching people her cooking at their homes and not only do you learn some great tips but you have fun and get to enjoy the meal afterwards too. 05.01.2022 Friday was my first time to @pinkmonkeyburleigh I watched amazed as this place was renovated and transformed into a beautiful rooftop bar restaurant in Burliegh Heads then didn’t hear too much about them. With chef @bradenwhitechef recently joining their team and Friday’s invite by Karen from @goldcoastfoodandwinetours I was keen to check it out along with the Gold Coast best food writer Marj from @foodgoldcoast The whole place is really beautifully designed and we chose... to sit outside on the rooftop of course. Funnily enough we didn’t try the pizza which they are famous for but the highlights for me was the Local Stracciatella , the Coral Coast Barramundi was delicious with a crispy top layer and perfectly cooked fish and the Passionfruit Vanilla whipped Cheesecake was next level I’m certainly going back for another one. 04.01.2022 Had a bite to eat and a coffee at @stonesthrowcurrumbin which has recently moved from Burliegh Heads. Always known as a great spot for it’s food and coffee just got a whole lot better by this move with an outdoor fenced yard, a lot more space especially in comparison to the last cafe. This cafe will take off with the locals especially with those walking dogs or with kids in tow wanting to grab a bite or a social cuppa. 02.01.2022 Last night it was time to try @madam_fu_modern_asian which has been on my list for some time like many other places. We ordered three dishes to share: Hiramasa Kingfish, Bug Bao buns (x2) and Chilli Caramel Eggplant The Kingfish was delicious and was quickly polished off with 6 thin slices The bug Bao was the stand out of the evening, as soon as we both tasted it. With a Tempura batter, Kaffir Lime Mayo and Sriracha drizzle just added a slight heat and taste to it. ... We would of both ordered another but we still had the Eggplant. This one we kept the chilli aside but it was probably a bit too sweet without chilli’s for us to enjoy and we didn’t feel like the heat. So we both decided we will return and feast on Bug Bao’s only and with a Plum wine each.
