24.01.2022 Round 7 Bribie Island Winner Team Wind Knot - Josh Bell Winnings $500 Cash... After two poor results I was looking forward to the Bribie round, having won the Bribie round last year I knew what I needed to do and for this tournament that ment heading straight for the canals. There are other areas in the passage that can fish really well at certain times of the year but I didn't have a chance to properly prefish the area prior to this event and i've found the canals to be fairly consistant in the past. I had 5 rods rigged with different lures but the my go-to is always a Khamsin tiny. It usually delivers results and today was no different although I did manage a few on lightly weighted soft plastics and other crankbaits aswell. I was able to capitalize early on with the majority of my fish coming in the first few hours, after that every pontoon had been worked by 10 different teams and the fish were shut down.

24.01.2022 Round 7 Bribie Island 2nd Place + Big Bream + 1st Place Small Vessel. Team - Seastraws Anglers - Adam Landers & Rob Bergel Winnings - $400 cash ... Our day started out with a bit of uncertainty as we had to change our original plan of heading up the passage with the weather looking a tad unstable and our boat being on the small side. We headed into the Bribie canals which we fished in last years comp and managed a 150cm bag by 9am using a mix of ecogear aqua and light weighted MMD soft prawns in the live colour. This was a luxury that we had not had in any of our previous comps. We then fished the best part of the run out tide using larger 65mm cranka crabs and got onto some better quality fish which upgraded our bag nicely. We knew a bag around 170cm mark would be very competitive and we really smashed it out till the end hoping for one last upgrade which ultimately did not happen. Congrats to josh for another win.

24.01.2022 Round 7 Bribie Full Results & Photos. Team Wind Knot of Josh Bell has bounced back after a couple bad months of results to measure in a 169cm Bag of 5 Bream to take out the event and secure him $500 cash for his efforts. Coming home in Second Place was Team Seastraws with their best result of series with a 167.5cm bag plus they also took out the Big Bream of the event & 1st place small vessel to take home $400 cash.... A big thanks to everyone who came along especially the new 6 teams who attended, the next Round is now being held on the Gold Coast on September 13 and you can see the event details & entry form here - https://seqsportfishing.com.au/seq-sportfshing-series-rd-8/

23.01.2022 Hi all, I just wanted to put a big shout out to all the teams who fished Round 8 yesterday on the Gold Coast. In these tough times for a lot of people and with us having to change the way we run tournaments almost every month due to the covid restrictions everyone did such a great job doing everything correctly and making the tournament run so smoothly. By all reports everyone had a great time and loved the format we ran yesterday as it gave teams equal access to their favour...ite fishing area regardless of vessel size and power, the one good thing that has come out of this year with everything going on is we can trial some new formats for future events to keep tournaments running. So once again thank you to all the anglers for yesterday

23.01.2022 Team Of The Series updated after Round 7. Current prize pool $1210 Its getting super tight in the race of the Team of the Series with Team Wind Knot & Team Bradfield tide for the number one spot plus Team Bream Me Up & Tonec Custom Rods nipping at their heels.

23.01.2022 Client captures over the last week! Its been another great week of fishing on the Gold Coast waterways for clients aboard SEQ Sportfishing Estuary & Dam Charte...rs, the water temps have risen from 16 degrees over a couple of weeks ago to 21 degrees yesterday that shows things are definitely changing in the season and the fish are starting to spread out throughout the system. With this the bait will start to push up the rivers and into the canals and one of my favourite fish to catch this time of year is the Trevally as they push up the system chasing the bait, on the Gold Coast here we are so lucky to have big numbers of Giant Trevally, Big Eye Trevally, Golden Trevally, Brassy Trevally and more in our system and its not uncommon to catch up to 5 species of Trevally on one charter. This week we have seen over 5 Mangrove Jacks sun baking on the side of the pontoons which is a great sign for the coming months, I personally believe September to December is the best time to target Mangrove Jacks on lures during the day as we get a big spike in the water temps that really makes them aggressive, last year in this time frame clients landed over 28 between 40 to 56cm so hopefully this year will be the same. This week we used a variety of lure techniques such as Soft plastics, Cranka Crabs, Surface Lures and Crankbaits which is very common for this time of year as everyday the fish are on something different so it pays to always change things up. Charter booking update. * September- Booked out * October- 8 dates available * Taking bookings now for November & December You can see my packages, availability calendar and make bookings here - https://seqsportfishing.com.au/charter-packages/ Online fishing tackle shop. This week I have got new stock of the very popular Berkley Crabbies in the Camo colour plus the Berkley fireline I use on my charters, my new stock order of the popular Cranka Crab colours of Olive, UV will be arriving early next week. You can see the shop here and order online - https://seqsportfishing.com.au/fishingtackleshop/ with free freight for orders over $120 I have the weekend off for Fathers Day so if your heading out this weekend I hope you get into a few!

22.01.2022 Spring Charter Update. Well Spring is only a week away and after a long cold Winter I think we are all ready for some warmth to kick in, in saying that the last... 3 months has seen a incredible winter spawn bite with some great captures and big numbers of fish caught by all clients. With the change of season brings a change of fishing here in the SEQ estuaries systems as the days will get longer, warmer and the water temps will start to rise and with that will see the change in the way we fish on charters and different species come more available. Broadwater Area- We will start to see more bait pushing into the system and with this more variety of fish chasing it in including Snapper, Spangled Emperor, Morwong, Tusk Fish, Jewfish, Flathead and more targeting them on soft plastics and cranka crabs, spring time normally brings bigger tides so its important to time these areas and not fish them on the larger king tides as there is to much movement. Canals- This is one area we will be fishing more in the coming months as the bigger tides and the warmer water pushed in the canals with the bait and fish following it in, fish such as Mangrove Jacks, Trevally, Big Bream, Estuary Cod, Flathead will be the fish we will be targeting more on surface lures which is a great way to catch fish as its so visual and super exciting. Last year in between the September to December months we scored over 28 Mangrove Jacks between 40cm to 56cm on a variety of lure techniques and to me this is the best time to target them on lures during the day. Normally on every charter I try and fish 3 different locations and use a variety of lure techniques to target different fish so clients get the full experience, below is what so teach on every charter. * Full run on how to set up your gear for estuary lure fishing. * How to tie knots * Learn how to cast lures correctly * Learn all the techniques such as Soft Plastics, Cranka Crabs, Surface & Crankbait fishing . * How to read a fish finder correctly * Lure selection * Learn how to read tides and conditions * Tournament tuition * Learn how to target different species and how they feed. I do charters in 4 locations- Gold Coast, Redcliffe, Mooloolaba & Maroon Dam for a max of 2 people so you can come solo or bring someone along with all your fishing gear included with a top of the range Triton Bass Boat. Charter bookings for September are booked out but Im taking booking now for October & November so book in to avoid disappointment. You can purchase the gear I use off my online fishing tackle shop here - https://seqsportfishing.com.au/fishingtackleshop/ For full charter packages, availability & bookings go to https://seqsportfishing.com.au/charter-packages/ 0401259534 Message me through this page

21.01.2022 Tonec Custom Rods Round 8 Gold Coast 1st Place, Biggest Mangrove Jack & 1st Place Small Vessel. Team - Seastraws Angler - Adam Landers Winning Bag - 173.5cm ... Mangrove Jack - 47.5cm Winnings - $750 cash Sunday for me was just one of those days you dream of having during a competition, after a 2nd placing at Bribie It felt like I was hitting a bit of form and had gained a greater confidence in my approach to competition fishing. I planned on targeting pontoons and moored boats around the paradise point area and it payed off big time, from 8 to 12 I was pulling quality fish off every pontoon and boat hull I cast including a large number of bream 30cm plus and a solid jack around the 48cm mark which absolutely belted me on the bream gear. Light MMD soft prawns in clear colour and ecogear aqua got the job done, I hope everyone enjoyed the round and looking forward to the Mooloolaba round on home turf.

21.01.2022 Hi all, with the recent developments of the Covid 19 restrictions from 8am tomorrow we are still good to run round 8 on the Gold Coast September 13th but will have to change a few things as below. - No registration or measure in will take place and the event will run online as per previous rounds. - Teams can start from any boat ramp on the Gold Coast as long its in the boundaries at 7am with teams sending in a photo of their vessel from the ramp.... - A item will be needed to be shown in all fish photos to count, this will be advised at 6pm the Saturday night before the event. - Your 5 biggest Bream photos plus any bonus species are to be sent in by 2pm. - Any new teams requiring a measuring mat plus any teams who have pre ordered fishing gear we will organise a time to meet you. As much as we want to hold events and all gather for the social side of things we have to obey to the current regulations and as things change we will change to suit, by the looks of things this will be more then likely how things will be for the remaining rounds but at least it keeps everyone fishing and the series going.

20.01.2022 Tonec Custom Rods Round 8 Gold Coast 3rd Place plus Biggest Bream at 41.5cm Team - Flanagan Anglers - Guy & Matt Measure - 170.5cm... Winnings - $250 Our plan for the day was to pretty much stick to both runaway bay and sovereign island canals with all of our fish being caught using the mmd splash prawn and mmd soft prawns, I decided to stick it out with the duo realis 52mr to try get some better fish and was lucky enough to get the 41.5 cm bream on it with in the last hour inside sovereign. Congrats to Sea straws and slim bream for 1st and 2nd and cheers for another great day Scotty.

20.01.2022 Important information regarding the last three rounds of the series. To say its been a hard and tricky year running events would be an understatement with bad weather impacting events at the start of year and the last few rounds being impacted how we run events by the Coranavirus. On the positive side of things at least we are still running events and you anglers are still out fishing unlike so many people around Australia, one thing I hate doing is changing around rounds bu...t this is the case for the last three rounds. Due to a number reasons such as boarder closers and etc the three last rounds will be as follows. Round 8 September 13th - Gold Coast from Paradise Point Boat Ramp. Round 9 October 11th - Mooloolaba Round 10 Series Final 2 Day event November 28th & 29 - Gold Coast $1000 to win plus double points. 08.01.2022 Hi all, just in regards to todays event at Bribie Island yes its still going ahead as planned. We dont cancel the event due to rain and as its in sheltered waters wind is not a factor today, we recommend you take the correct clothing to fish in the weather that is forecasted and fish in the conditions that you and your vessel can handle. In saying that the weather forecasted all week for today has not really occurred and it looks like conditions look great for fishing.... Good luck to everyone fishing.

06.01.2022 Hi all, we have had a few inquiries about the new COVID restrictions of 30 people in a outdoor gathering that was put in place today in regards to our next Round on the Gold Coast September 13. Because our events are measure this does not not affect us as we can run without a registration or measure in like we have done over the last few rounds, the only reason we will have to stop our events if there was travel restrictions or fishing restrictions put in place. We will continue to follow the government guidelines and make changes as necessary but Round 8 is all good to go.

06.01.2022 Small boats is all you need! With myself being around tournament fishing for 15 years there has always been a mind set of so many anglers that a fast big bass boat is what you need to be competitive in tournament fishing, this is so far from the truth especially up here in SEQ. Over the last few years up here in SEQ running tournaments smaller boats have been the way to go with most winning teams are in boats 4.5m and less, this year the current two teams leading the Team of ...the Series point score are running a 4.1m Polycraft and 4.2m Anglapro Tinnie. So if your thinking about coming along and giving tournament fishing a go and think I dont have the boat to do it think again, in this year series we have a small vessel bonus so if your new to tournament fishing and have a boat 4.2m and under you qualify and the highest place small vessel boat gets $100 cash per tournament. With the change this year to measuring in fish with no livewells needed we have introduced so many new teams into the sport and have been able to keep the series going through the covid 19 restrictions

01.01.2022 Tonec Custom Rods Round 8 Gold Coast 2nd Place Team - Slim Bream Anglers - Matt & Rod Oates Winnings $250 cash ... For round 8 of the SEQ Sportfishing Series we decided to fish near the northern boundary for the competition, we wanted to fish flats early and drop offs as the tide ran out. It was a slow start with no bites til 8:30 but then we had a bag in the next half an hour with the upgrades slowly came but bites were really patchy with a few fish caught then nothing for while. All our fish were caught in shallow water and 4 out of the 5 fish were on splash prawns and the other on an atomic mid crank. Thanks again Scott for organizing this event
