22.01.2022 Given the current global circumstances, the SEQSW has made the decision to cancel our performance at the Queen Street Mall this coming Sunday. A difficult decision, as we all know that music soothes the soul, however for the health and safety of our musicians and the community at large, we feel it is best for all if we don't go ahead with the concerts. Keep an eye on our website (www.seqsw.org.au) for other upcoming events, and we hope to see you again soon.

18.01.2022 On this day in 1874, English composer Gustav Holst was born. As well as an orchestral composer, most notably for his Planets Suite, Holst was also an early composer for the wind ensemble. Here is the South East Queensland Symphonic Winds performing Gustav Holst's First Suite in Eb at our Postcards concert in October 2019

17.01.2022 Are you looking for a great wind ensemble to play with? SEQSW has a couple of vacancies for clarinet players this year with some really terrific music planned. SEQSW can be a great music extension activity for a senior high school student, a way to continue playing for a Uni student, a great outlet for working adult or reignited passion for a retiree.... Rehearsals are Monday evenings in Deagon and we recommend AMEB 5-6 or equivalent. Please get in touch with us if this is you!!

17.01.2022 SEQSW hopes you are all well Some of our musicians have had some fun creating this virtual piece. Check out Mel, Adam, Rohan and Ash with The Way You Look Tonight

10.01.2022 From our recent Postcards concert, Fantasy on a Japanese Folk Song by American composer Samuel R. Hazo tells the story of a young Japanese woman who falls in love with an American man, leaving her cultural home. The drumming echoes the sound of her divided heart, her internal battle between her culture and her husband.

05.01.2022 Just a short note for those who have been keeping an eye on our concert schedule for this year. Unfortunately we are not able to go ahead with our proposed event tomorrow at Downfall Creek. The council was required to make a decision on this event a few months ago and at the time it was safer not to go ahead with it. Our next confirmed concert is 6 December in the Queen Street Mall - we hope to see you there!
