25.01.2022 We are looking for unwanted cars to use by our members for training and assessment in their road crash rescue capabilities. They don't need to be going or complete. 23.01.2022 Strong north-westerly winds are expected across Tasmania throughout tonight and during tomorrow with average wind speeds of 60-70km/h and peak gusts of 110...-120km/h. To prepare for the strong winds, we ask that people tie down and secure any loose items including outdoor furniture and play equipment. Winds of this speed can pick up and carry items like trampolines and can blow trees and power lines onto roads. With the ground at saturation point following winter rains, it is more likely that trees are unstable and the likelihood of them being blown over in strong winds is increased. SES advises that people should do the following to prepare for strong winds: Secure outdoor items including furniture and play equipment (trampolines are a frequent issue in high winds) Beware of fallen trees and power lines Take care when driving Be prepared in case of power outages and report outages to TasNetworks on 132 004 Keep up to date with the latest weather warnings at www.bom.gov.au/tas Visit www.ses.tas.gov.au for further preparation advice For emergency assistance in a flood or storm contact the SES on 132 500 For assistance in a life-threatening emergency call Triple Zero

23.01.2022 The State Emergency Service is preparing for flooding in streams and rivers due to a likely rain event in the coming days. SES will have units on standby across... the state ready to assist those affected by potential flooding events. Flooding in nearby streams and rivers is likely during the next few days due to the forecast rain event and some low lying properties may become isolated by flood waters. Flood waters are full of hidden dangers and we urge people not to drive or walk through floodwaters. People should prepare themselves by moving livestock and equipment to higher ground if possible. For information about the weather forecast visit www.bom.gov.au/tas For information about what to do in a flood visit www.ses.tas.gov.au

23.01.2022 Tasmanians are encouraged to prepare for possible heavy rainfall and predicted thunderstorms this week. The Bureau of Meteorology has advised the SES that a sev...ere weather warning has been issued ahead of predicted heavy rainfall. That rainfall is expected in the north and west of the state overnight, with the low pressure system expected to impact the south east on Thursday and Friday While we are preparing to help community members in need of assistance, we would ask people to prepare themselves for the hazards associated with heavy rainfall and thunderstorms. SES advises people to: Ensure drains and gutters are clear of debris and running freely Never drive, walk, swim or cycle through flood waters Never play near floodwaters, drains or culverts Beware of fallen trees and power lines Take care when driving Be prepared in case of power outages Check that family and neighbours are aware of any warnings Preparation advice: www.ses.tas.gov.au Latest weather warnings: www.bom.gov.au/tas Road closures: www.police.tas.gov.au Listen to ABC Local Radio for updates in an emergency SES on 132 500 SES for flood and storm assistance Triple Zero (000) in a life-threatening emergency call

18.01.2022 Wynyard Scouts spent the night away from the hall tonight and visited Wynyard SES to see what they do. The Scouts got a demonstration on how they remove the fr...ont and back door from a car, how to pull someone up a hill along with how to lift up a vehicle/trailer off of someone or something. All in all, the Scouts has a fantastic night, and with some luck in a few years they will make amazing SES officers! Thank you to the Wynyard SES Unit for having the Scouts along and putting on a wicked night enjoyed by all!

14.01.2022 Covid-19 response In response to the global pandemic Covid-19, Wynyard SES has suspended all training activities. This is supported by Tasmanian SES including all unit meetings, training nights and social events which are to be suspended for 21 days. In this changing environment the safety of our members is the key to being able to continually provide the community with assistance during and after major incidents. Whilst we are yet to receive a formal request for assistance... our skills and resources could provide assistance if required to the government. From our Orange family to yours stay safe and look out for one another!
