25.01.2022 Wet and windy conditions are expected for parts of eastern New South Wales early next week, particularly coastal areas, with the likelihood of a Coastal Low dev...eloping, and potentially an East Coast Low. Such a system could bring severe weather to some coastal regions between Sunday and Wednesday. This includes the possibility of heavy rainfall, road and riverine flooding, damaging winds strong enough to bring down trees and powerlines, and large seas resulting in dangerous beach conditions and potential coastal erosion. This is a dynamic system, so there is still uncertainty with the exact positioning, movement and strength of the low. Know your weather. Know your risk. Make sure you stay up to date with the latest forecasts and warnings on our website http://ow.ly/Qv7c50AuDuP Both Coastal Lows and East Coast Lows display cyclonic circulations and can bring severe weather, however East Coast Lows are more intense systems that can last for several days, as opposed to Coastal Lows that usually have a much shorter duration. 20.01.2022 Over the last few weeks, we've been talking about low-pressure systems with broad areas of the east coast feeling the impacts. Many of us are familiar with the ...term East Coast Low (ECL), but where strong low-pressure systems in the east are concerned, they're not the only low. Watch our short video where we help you to get to know your lows. And come back later today to watch Senior Meteorologist, Dean Narramore explain the latest on the current low-pressure system off the east coast of NSW. Know your weather. Know your risk. 13.01.2022 POSSIBLE HEAVY RAIN AND STORMS FOR COASTAL NSW. The NSW State Emergency Service (SES) is encouraging residents to use the weekend to prepare for possible thunde...rstorms and periods of heavy rain that are predicted to develop early over Sunday and into early next week. At this stage there is potential for a low pressure system to form somewhere between the NSW Mid North Coast and South Coast that may result in periods of heavy rain, strong winds, and hazardous surf conditions. NSW SES Northern Zone Deputy Commander Tony Day said "Currently there is some uncertainty about the location of the system however it is likely to bring with it the possibility of riverine and localised flash flooding as we move into next week." NSW SES is encouraging residents to clean roofs gutters and downpipes, trim trees branches away from property and secure down outdoor items and furniture as a way of preparing their property for severe weather. Mr. Day continued, "The current COVID-19 environment presents additional considerations for emergency services in responding to severe weather events. So the most practical way the community can help should the heavy rain eventuate is to avoid all non essential travel and to never drive, ride or walk through floodwaters." The SES recommends people monitor the NSW Bureau of Meteorology for any severe weather warnings for heavy rain or riverine flood warnings. For emergency storm and flood assistance call NSW SES on 132 500. ABC Mid North Coast PRIME7 News North Coast Mid North Coast NSW Emergency Situations Triple M Mid North Coast

09.01.2022 Threat passed, thanks to the BOM but better to be ready than not. TOP PRIORITY FOR IMMEDIATE BROADCAST Severe Thunderstorm Warning... for HEAVY RAINFALL For people in Hunter and parts of Northern Rivers, Mid North Coast, Central Tablelands, North West Slopes and Plains and Northern Tablelands Forecast Districts. Issued at 9:21 pm Wednesday, 25 March 2020. Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Coffs Harbour, Newcastle, Cessnock, Maitland, Armidale and Dorrigo. Severe thunderstorms are no longer occurring in the Central West Slopes and Plains district and the warning for this district is CANCELLED. A 95km/h wind gust was recorded at Coonamble Airport at 2.14pm. 33mm of rain was recorded in 30min to 3:30pm at Bringelly (southwest Sydney). 44mm of rain was recorded in 60min to 6:30pm at Cumnock (northwest of Orange). 71mm of rain was recorded in 60min to 7:45pm at Meldrum (Mid North Coast). The State Emergency Service advises that people should: * Keep clear of creeks and storm drains. * Don't walk, ride your bike or drive through flood water. * If you are trapped by flash flooding, seek refuge in the highest available place and ring 000 if you need rescue. * Be aware that run-off from rainfall in fire affected areas may behave differently and be more rapid. It may also contain debris such as ash, soil, trees and rocks. * After bushfires, heavy rain and the loss of foliage can make the ground soft and heavy, leading to a greater chance of landslides. * Unplug computers and appliances. * Avoid using the phone during the storm. * Stay indoors away from windows, and keep children and pets indoors as well. * Stay vigilant and monitor conditions. Note that the landscape may have changed following bushfires. * For emergency help in floods and storms, ring the SES (NSW and ACT) on 132 500. The next warning is due to be issued by 12:25 am Thursday. If severe thunderstorms develop in Sydney Newcastle Wollongong or surrounding areas, a more detailed Severe Thunderstorm Warning will be issued to people in this area. Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau's website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 210.
