23.01.2022 JAMES HAS BEEN FOUND ALIVE! update 7.30pm WST | From WA Police: 3-year-old missing boy James has been located in bushland alive by a family member who was as...sisting with the land search operation. Given the time he has spent exposed to the rough terrain and poor weather conditions, arrangements will be made for him to have a medical check-up as a precaution. WA Police Force thanks all the emergency service volunteers and community members who assisted with the search. ----- POLICE UPDATE ON MISSING YALLINGUP BOY 1PM The search is continuing for missing 3-year-old boy James. In addition to his ‘Spiderman’ pyjamas it is believed he is wearing wellington boots. Resources deployed at this time include: Local police Police Air Wing (helicopter) Police Canine Unit SES Volunteers Police Mounted Section (enroute from Perth) There has been a significant response from the public, however it is important that members of public do not compromise the search activity. Police messages to the community are: Thank you to everyone who has attended the search area. The response has been significant. It is important members of the public do not venture into the bushland areas as they may inadvertently compromise evidence of where James has walked, and that could impact on the ability of trained searchers to track his movements. Anyone who is in the area already is asked to stick to the main tracks and roads. At this time there is no need for further members of the public to attend the location. For those people who are already on site it is important they register their attendance at the Incident Command Post which is located at the DFES SES building on Caves Road. - MISSING 3Y/O IN YALLINGUP Police are searching for a missing 3y/o in the area around Karli Rise, Yallingup. He was last seen about 7:30am today, Saturday 19 September 2020. He is described as fair skinned with blonde hair and blue eyes and is wearing white ‘Spiderman’ pyjamas. Anyone who sees the boy is asked to remain with him and call Police immediately on 000.

21.01.2022 Its fascinating how the universe works at times. This very day last year several of our new members has their first taste of helping the community with the Nannup SES. Since then we have had more members join, and all the members have trained, bonded as a team and enriched the unit with their can-do attitude. So this week has also been a big one, building on a busy couple of months training and getting stuck in helping other units with storm damage ops as covid restrictions ...have been relaxed. This week the unit has completed a roof damage call out without assistance and sent a team to assist a local missing persons search without my direct involvement. May not mean much to some, but the strides the unit has made this week was almost unfathomable 15 months ago. Im very proud of the team, we will all keep striving to build on what we have achieved. A big Thank You goes out to everyone across the lower south west region who helped make this possible. We love all of you! If you reckon you might like to be part of our team, send us a PM and we can tee up you dropping in on a training night. You just might be a fantastic addition to our team serving the Nannup community.

20.01.2022 This weather is typical of a winter-time cold front, but is occurring unseasonably late in the year. A Cold front approaching from the southwest is likely to produce gusty showers with Thunderstorms the frontal boundary, which is expected to move across the South West Capes around sunrise. Take care especially if travelling in the early - mid morning.

18.01.2022 A cold front will move through southwest parts of WA during Friday morning and afternoon. This front is not as strong as the weather system which moved through Perth and western parts of WA last Sunday and Monday. DAMAGING WINDS, averaging 60 to 70 km/h with peak gusts to around 100 km/h are possible, particularly in coastal parts south of Mandurah.

18.01.2022 Increasing skills and knowledge is an essential part of being an SES volunteer. These dedicated SES members they were able to put their storm damage training i...nto practice almost straight away Members trained alongside Busselton State Emergency Service, Nannup State Emergency Service and Donnybrook Balingup State Emergency Service developing skills in roof repairs, sandbagging, working safely on a roof, and many more vital tasks to help the community They also got a chance to be movie stars ... actually they featured in a news report about storm preparations.

17.01.2022 On this day two years ago, one of the largest recorded earthquakes south of Perth caused a 3km long surface rupture near Lake Muir As one of Australia’s most ...seismically active areas, our South West will soon be home to an additional 25 seismic recording stations to improve how we monitor earthquake activity. The groundbreaking project is a collaboration between DFES, Australian National University, Geological Survey of Western Australia, Macquarie University and Geoscience Australia.

17.01.2022 The cooler weather brought a shift in temperature, and also in the types of incidents DFES emergency services personnel responded to. The ComCen team are always kept on their toes, but in May they received the most triple zero calls in a month since 2017! Said it a few times now, as always its a great team effort and the Nannup team are proud they are serving their community :-)... Heres a look at some of what we responded to last month

11.01.2022 Great to have Mike and Ian from Nannup helping out in a great team effort from across the South West today.

11.01.2022 A great team effort over the weekend - while we never look forward to dodgy weather, it was great to be part of a well organised and coordinated response attending a request for assistance in Nannup and assisting Busselton SES :-)

10.01.2022 Last weekends wet and wild weather may be typical for this time of year, but these fronts can still pack a punch! The most common request for SES assistance ...was water damage in ceilings/roofs. Like most storm damage, this one is largely preventable by keeping your gutters clear and checking your roof for any cracked or loose tiles before a storm rolls in. Travis Davies captured this cracking shot over Scarborough.

10.01.2022 Evening to you all, just a wind/weather update. Hopefully you are all prepped and got that log fire or heater toasty! The winds are building from the NE, set to continue steadily building in strength up until around 2am, then easing into the morning and slowly subsiding across the day. This storm is significant due to its duration and strength, with storm winds potentially reaching 50km inland.... The attached images, courtesy of BOM MetEye, show predictions of the wind speeds at 8pm today and rolling across 2am, 5am. 11am and 5pm Monday. The Nannup SES will be monitoring conditions overnight and will be ready to deploy locally or back up other units in the region from 7am Monday. Stay safe everyone and see you on the flip side - just hopefully not at your front door! http://www.bom.gov.au/australia/meteye/

08.01.2022 Some timely advice to help prepare for some stormy weather on Sunday and Monday.

07.01.2022 June by the numbers...

07.01.2022 Thats an all new level of dodginess right there...

06.01.2022 Make sure you are prepared for Sunday and Monday. A tropical system will combine with a cold front to produce one or two deep low pressure systems which will impact western parts of WA Widespread severe weather is expected from Sunday morning moving down through the state. Dangerous weather may occur in some parts, particularly in the vicinity of the low pressure systems. HEAVY RAINFALL may also occur southwest of a line from Kalbarri to Albany from Sunday afternoon with isol...ated rainfall totals to around 70mm. This is a rare event for WA particularly due to the extent of the area affected and the possibility of multiple areas of dangerous weather.

05.01.2022 As we close in on the end of a turbulent year, I am keen to let you know about a team that exists to serve the Nannup community. During this year your SES team volunteered more hours in missing person searches, storm damage repairs, water bomber reloads and fire support roles than the previous 4 years combined including backing up other SES units. Your SES team has also worked through the challenges to attend training courses, build relationships and reinvigorate their h...ome base. A large part of this base is the Shire of Nannup Incident Control Centre (ICC), and it is with great pride that I can say that your ICC will be fully operational this fire season for the first time in over 5 years. We will be there to play our part and back up the splendid work of our fire crews this season. It is an evolving journey, I am very proud of the team’s efforts in 2020 with 2021 unlocking more milestones, as we build on the work already done, this includes re-activating Nannup’s flood boat capability for the first time in years. Expect to see us out in the community more often in 2021 would you like to be a part of it? The team would love to have a few new members for 2021. There are a number of roles in the SES, and you fill anywhere from 1 to all of them. You set the boundaries. We could use some admin support, logistics assistance for the ICC, or you could train with us in land search, communications, storm damage and flood assistance, off road recovery or fire support roles. Drop us a PM or call 0427 561 322 for more info. The team wish all of Nannup a fun, loving and relaxing Chrissie reckon we have all earned it!

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours. There is a risk that these thunderstorms could also be accompanied by gusty wind...s. Storms could cause DAMAGE TO HOMES AND PROPERTY. The overall weather pattern is not unusual for this time of year but severe weather may occur in some parts of the warning area.

WA is expected to be hit by a very rare weather event from this arvo, which could see wild weather hit WA from Exmouth to Esperance, with wind gusts of up to 135km! While most storm damage is preventable, its important to know who to c...all if your home is damaged, flooded or a large tree has come down on your house or driveway. 02.01.2022 Only 10% of households have a fire plan. The south west is a bushfire hotspot (pardon the pun), and we are now in summer - so you need to have a plan. The DFES Bushfire Plan app makes it easier than ever and steps you through what you need to have in place ahead of time to keep you and your family safe. The time to do this is NOW.

01.01.2022 Thats one way to rock the orange today! Great stuff Triple M Southwest
