24.01.2022 This time last week, I had spent most of the day and evening with Eunice and Sam photographing the birth of their beautiful daughter, Hazel. As you'll see, they had a few animal doulas along for the ride as well ;) Hazel's birth was planned as a home birth, but it ended in a trip to the hospital and a c-section. I don't have the words to express how privileged I am to be able to capture their journey from home to hospital, and then the birth of their healthy, beautiful chi...ld. The incredible thing that struck me was the deep connection between Sam and Eunice and how much of a team they were throughout. Hazel's birth is the second birth I have been lucky enough to capture, and it has certainly solidified for me that this is a genre of photography that I'd like to continue to offer, so please get in touch if you would like your child's birth journey captured. 22.01.2022 The bliss of having time for just us - back to work tomorrow so we made the most of today. We went for a walk to Boulder Rock Karragulen in Karragullen to watch the sunset. 17.01.2022 When I spoke with Margot about possible locations for her family shoot it was clear that her gorgeous young men might feel more comfortable in an urban setting, so I went location scouting yesterday and found this stunning door in the city, which was one of 3 perfect backdrops we went to this afternoon for this family's images. 16.01.2022 We've known Helouise, Eddy and their girls Thelma and Louise for quite a few years now, so we were so happy when they asked us to make a family photo of them all. Thelma and Louise are sisters and next month they turn 15-years-old! Louise has had some recent health issues which necessitated her right eye to be removed (you can just see the very fashionable eye patch she's wearing in the top right image. Because of their age and mobility, we decided to head to the family ho...me rather than stress them out by moving them somewhere unfamiliar and they were quite happy and excited with all the attention! 14.01.2022 Today is our Monty's (chosen) 7th birthday and Sid's actual 2nd birthday! When we got Monty he was a rescue boy and we didn't have a date of birth, so I counted back roughly 14 months and picked the 2nd October to be his birthday, but then Sid came to us and his *actual* birthday was the 2nd, so now we celebrate them both on this day! 09.01.2022 We had a gorgeous time at the orchard this afternoon with Taylor, Poppy and Liz. Poppy had a big sleep in the car on the way to the orchard so was well rested and just magic during our shoot. Three beautiful ladies and a perfect backdrop in the blossoms. The good news is that although the blossoms will be gone soon-ish, they will be replaced by colourful fruit and I will be offering family shoots in the orchard with the added bonus of being able to pick your own fruit!... 08.01.2022 Some of my clients end up becoming more than *just* clients. Fran White and her daughter Lacey Filipich definitely morphed into friends over the years which I'm grateful for. Fran and Lacey were a formidable team, and having photographed both of them together their deep bond and friendship was abundantly clear to me. Cheeky and with a sense of fun, whilst also being down-to-earth and completely natural - a joy to be around. They weren't only mother and daughter, they were b...usiness partners as co-founders of the Money School and Maker Kids Club - but most importantly, they were best friends. Fran recently passed away following four months of treatment for lymphoma. Myself and my wife Sam visited Fran, Lacey and her children at home with our Griffons, Erik and Sid. Sid is a sensitive guy and is cautious of most new people, unlike Erik who is a registered therapy dog. Sid took to Fran instantly, and he spent a good deal of his time lying on her chest whilst she stroked him. Dogs know a 'good egg' when they meet one, and Fran was definitely that. Lacey mentioned at the wake that Fran's favourite bird was the Willy Wagtail and pictured below is 'Trevor' who visits our home often, even sometimes coming into our home. Fran, you will be dearly missed and never forgotten.
