23.01.2022 HEADS UP PARENTS This was passed on to us from an extremely reliable source please read then delete. There is a live suicide by shotgun streaming on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Tik Tok today. The clip is extremely graphic and has yet to be moderated. Should this image appear in any of your feeds SCROLL past. Please advise all young people to do the same. Teachers strongly recommend keeping your children offline today if possible, and heavily supervise all social media ...interactions until this content is removed. Check with your children to determine if they have viewed this clip. They are likely to be extremely distressed. We are also receiving reports that trolls are using videos of puppies and kitten to lure kids into seeing the video. It is also being inserted into videos of kittens on Tik Tok.

20.01.2022 Hi everyone! Im currently completing a university assessment to create a design brief for a social issue. I have chosen the issue of waste produced at festiva...ls held in semi-natural environments, such as North Byron Parkland. This is the research phase and once this is complete Ill go on to create an advertising strategy based around my findings. First, I have to gather some primary research and want to gain more of an understanding of the general view of the issue in surrounding communities. If this is an issue which interests you Id really appreciate if you could complete my 2 minute survey. I understand this may not be enough to convince you so with every completed response made on the survey I will donate 50c to Positive Change for Marine Life (PCFML) fundraising program, founded in Byron Bay. Survey link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/L6ZJY7Z Check out PCFMLs website: https://pcfml.org.au More importantly, Im also conducting interviews - can be over FB messenger or email - to gather more in-depth research of the issue. Let me know in the comments if youd be interested in that and Ill send you a message via FB. All information gathered from the survey and the interviews will be anonymous and will be used for assessment purposes only. Thank you!

17.01.2022 We usually don't wish to scare residents but this is to close to SGB, and by car just a blink away, so tell children what to do if this where to happen to them.

17.01.2022 Info from another page re schoolies. If working or planning to go into Byron in the following weeks keep safe Schoolies info Initially Simon was telling them Byron was open for business and schoolies were welcome too. The police and NSW Health thought we should be giving a different message though, so about two months ago it changed to "please reconsider your plans and maybe wait for a better time", but the reality is that these school leavers are 18, they are adults, and no... one can tell them whether they can come or not, if Byron is open for tourism then they are no different to any other adult tourist. They have all been booked for at least a year, some a few years, and even if the Victorians couldn't make it at the last min (but of course they are now coming) there were more than 2000 NSW schoolies on waitlists prepared to take over those bookings. The Govt has only said NO to any organised events and they may rue the day they made that decision too. The police have double the numbers coming to Byron, but no, no HUB this year, and no organised activities or events for them. See more

16.01.2022 Is this going to be a problem for the locations group?

15.01.2022 Mullumbimby in the 1920s maybe.

15.01.2022 Attention, attention Masked Lapwing (commonly referred to as Plovers) season is in full swing and it has come to our attention that we need to remind ever...yone of a few things. We do NOT remove or relocate plover eggs. (This also applies to you) We do not have methods for "making them go away" or "moving them out of my yard" They are not "just a plover". They are an Australian native that deserves the same protection and RESPECT every other Australian animal does. You do not under any circumstances forcibly hatch and / or damage the eggs. Plovers spurs are not poisonous and typically cannot hurt you. Plovers have been known to use these spurs as defence on predatory animals trying to interfere with the nest. It is a very last resort for these guys to make physical contact while swooping and defending, this applies with other animals or humans. Plovers do what every parent does, they protect their offspring. They protect them from harm. They give them every chance they possibly can to be okay. They only have a voice and a swoop during incubation to try and ensure their young are safe and hatch. Incubation lasts between 28-30 days. This is the period Plovers are most protective. Be patient. The more suburbia gets built up and habitat gets taken away, the closer we get to these animals that are just trying to do what you are in this world. Survive. We live in their homes, not the other way around and this expands well beyond Plovers. Something we all need to remember and be respectful to.

14.01.2022 For dog owners and holiday visitors. When out with your dogs make sure there on leads, tagged and registered best way to have them returned quickly home also to stop them wondering of, or getting interested in something else and walking away.eg another dog in the distance. Don't get a dog unless you have a fenced yard. Also if you own a dog and take it to work same applies but make sure dog is secured to the middle of your back tray, has something to sit on as those trays hea...t up to an incredible temp, and even if its a box give them something to sit under for shade. 1 other thing when riding a bike your dog will "DIE" trying to keep up with you so either slow down or don't do it, especially if the dog is over 5. I see this so often and it breaks my heart. Dont allow to wonder at night wallabies have been spotted in reserve, between beach and homes. Check for ticks and watch out for snake bite. Thank you. Enjoy See more

13.01.2022 For dog owners and holiday visitors. Dr's suggest not swimming in River or Ocean for approx 4 weeks after a flood as pollutants such as, Ecoli, petrol, chemicals are in water and they see so many cases of ear, nose, and eye infections, gastric, biliousness, etc. When out with your dogs make sure there on leads, tagged and registered best way to have them returned quickly home also to stop them wondering of, or getting interested in something else and walking away. e.g. anoth...er dog in the distance. 13.01.2022 It has been bought to our attention that people are stepping over the guard fencing in walkways to beach. The fences are put there to keep people of areas that are trying to be revegitated. These areas are the only thing that is between the Ocean and South Golden Beach Homes. Dont think it won't happen here it has on many occasions. Please stop walking on Dunes and if you see someome can you direct them nicely to get back on the paths and off the Dunes. Also there are many snakes in this corridoor and is quite dangerous for both humans and pets. Again thank you community.

11.01.2022 Cannot reach origin response team to find out how long power out, if anyone can reach them and get an ETA on power return please post here thanks

07.01.2022 The South Golden Beach Community Association extends an invitation to join the group! Over the years we have achieved quite a lot, such as: the Bike Track from SGB to New Brighton, renovations to the SGB Hall, the Skate Park, the childrens playground, the calisthenics area, the Helen Street Bridge, a resurfaced Beach Ave, replacement of surf platforms, pumps and drains to keep flood waters at bay, and co-ordinated the new Sports Ground. We have also written many submissions... to Council for our village and most recently put in flood plain documents (streets being surveyed at present). Our Face Book Page keeps you up to date in times of need and emergency and broadcasts information specific to SGB. We welcome new members and hope to see you soon! To all who are interested in joining SGBCA, the groups constitution is based on the NSW Fair Trading model constitution for associations. Heres the link to the webpage that has the information: https://bit.ly/2TMeKWu. A key rule of the association is that an individual member must be a member for at least a full year before nominating to be on the executive committee. This gives member a chance to be bought up to speed on all the contacts, etc.
