22.01.2022 Productive weekend ! Hunted through my boxes n piles of "stuff" I found hand tools, some forgotten rusted n neglected. Gave them love (de-rust, coat of paint, resurfaced, sharpen) The have a very handy new place to live & the promise to be utilized.

21.01.2022 When space & budget don't permit the right machinery... Get inventive... and the results are VERY mixed & not altogether moving projects forward ( or evoking excitement) Normally I create a work around after the first fail or 2... Not having fun with the new mitre lock bit. Plus its a big scary bit in the router. A router is a necessary evil had a disagreement with about 5 yrs ago.... Mmm have to sleep on this invention again & come up with a new plan. I must master this mitre lock bit as I wish to make cabinets with waterfall ends. It will be worth it! And I have a customer waiting! See more

Please let me know of anyone who has a factory/large shed I can share/lease. Preferably along the Frankston train line between Bentleigh & Carrum

20.01.2022 Furniture with a low carbon footprint comes at a cost.... Boldly asking the question of strangers - communication - grunting - Blood - sweat - splinters - blunt blades - squashed fingers - aching back - storage woes... (Not to mention trouble with the family from taking over the driveway ) But soooo worth the effort Reclaimed from a building demo in my street.... Redgum, Messmate, Oregon & more Old growth timber you can't get off the shelf in a hardware store, that deserves to be repurposed not as firewood. 20.01.2022 So i decided to go mobile with Razzi. Industrial auto start vac on board.I'm Lifted the hose n lead up high for safety, visability. Should reduce kinks in hose too for reduced blockages The DW 1271 has a ripping capacity of 870mm!

17.01.2022 Been long time in the making! Deep pondering, cut a bit here and there, assemble some, then stack in the corner while doing other projects. Finally some real chunky legs for the workbench. All from left over random materials from when I was doing Reno's for customers a few years ago. Douglas Fir, Redgum, LVL structural beams.... Going to be a challenge righting this workbench onto its feet. Gonna be close to 180-200kg I recon. Can you tell I love using contrasting dowels any chance I get? More photos to come See more

11.01.2022 Been a productive, yet ruff week in the workshop. Lost a bit of bark in a few places I've had a real good run till this week... a few splinters & sore lower back kinda the norm. Can't really explain it, was focused & in my flow - didn't even feel it to be honest. Noticed some red stuff on some wood n thought where did that come from? I really want to challenge myself by making some dining chairs. I'm no Sam Maloof yet... but I do want my chairs to be sculptural as well as functional. Like Sam's Lowback Tea Chair below

07.01.2022 In light of my previous post I went shopping at my toy shop #Carbatec Here are the before & after photos of my sharpening gear. I will attempt a video in breaking the seal on these & share what awesome advice I got from Ross who is a Staff member & Furniture Restorer. I tested the skill in store against the grain on a redgum slab, I think my wood working with hand tools has changed forever. Incredible feel through a sharp & well dressed plane. I'm inspired to make a wooden sharpening system box. I'll be sharing the process.
