23.01.2022 Real talk, Ladies . Lets talk about menstruation, also known as our inner winter. Our menstrual phase begins with the first day of our bled. Which can last anywhere from 3-7 days. Estrogen and progesterone are both low causing the lining of the uterus, called the endometrium to shed resulting in a bleed. Your energy may also be lower so dont push yourself. Take time out to rest . Periods arent meant to be extremely painful and unbearable. This can be a sign of a horm...onal imbalance. Being mindful of our bodies needs and the symptoms we are experiencing. Can help us to nourish our body with what its truly craving . During this phase we want to focus on mineral rich foods to help nourish and replenishing your body. Foods that are high in minerals such as iron, zinc and most importantly magnesium. Cacao is one of my all time favourite foods I mean come on, who doesnt love chocolateIts full of both magnesium and iron. Which makes it the perfect companion for during your period. . Warming foods such as broths, turmeric lattes and herbal teas can help keep the uterus warm from a TCM perspective which can help soothe cramps. Good quality protein such as grass fed beef, salmon, organic eggs, tofu or lentils. Can also help to keep your iron and mineral levels up and help replenish your body during your bleed. . What are some of your favourite thing to do during your menstrual phase to help support and comfort you? . #balance #nutritionist #nourish #womenshealth #innerwinter #menstrualcycle #aussiemum #mumlife #consciousparenting #blessedmama #aussiefamily #brisbanemums #sunshinecoastmums #goldcoastmum #mindfulparenting #mumblogger #foodblogger #wellnessblogger See more

17.01.2022 Nourish Yo-self . Im all about mindful nutrition and making conscious decisions about what goes into your body. By no means am I saying put down the chocolate but just be more aware of what youre putting into your body (just choose the dark chocolate next time). . Balance is the key to sustaining a healthy lifestyle. Im not one for fad diets or restricting foods groups unless there is an intolerance, allergy or its personal choice/belief. I believe the focus should b...e on consuming wholefoods in all their beautiful glory. . Be mindful about your portions but not to the extent of weighing and calorie counting if nourishing your body becomes a painful exercise clouded by weighing and counting you have simply taken that joy out of food. How do you expect your food to nourish your body if you dont enjoying preparing it. . Digestion begins in the eyes and the kitchen while youre preparing your meal. So put your favourite music on, pour yourself a small glass of red wine and put the joy back into your cooking. Preparing a wholesome meal for yourself and/or your family should make your heart and tummy sing . #nourishme #nourishyoself #mindfulnutrition #homemade #macronutrient #macros #balance #nutritionist #wholefoodies #nutrition #justeatrealfood #health #wellness #holistic #naturalmedicine #inspiration #fitfam #fitfoodies #fitspo #healthymum #eatcleans #instafoodblogger #instahealth #instagood #nourishme #foodshare_id #healthyfoodsharing See more

16.01.2022 Journaling is something Ive always tried to do but not been very successful at due to my ever racing mind Ive wanting to make it daily practice for a while now and Ive come up with a great way to keep me on track Journal prompts ... These have been a game changer for my journaling practice. You can find prompts all over the internet depending on what youre wanting to journal for or about. So I thought Id put together a few journal prompts for the busy mum What does your perfect morning look like? What would I tell my future self? What a 5 short term goals I have? 15.01.2022 Its not just about making babies . Optimising your cycle is about SO much more than just making babies, Its a sign of good health and vitality . The hormones that control our cycle are used for so many other processes in the body from sleep regulation, mood, gut health, weight control to bone health and so much more!!... . So many women just put up with crazy cycles cause they thinks its normal or they dont know how to ask for help due to the stigma around periods . My goal is to create a community of women who are confident and empowered to talk openly about their cycles and hormonal health . . . #hormonalhealth #balance #nutritionist #nourish #guthealth #hormones #fertility #womenshealth #innerwinter #menstrualcycle #aussiemum #mumlife #consciousparenting #blessedmama #mindfulparenting #mumblogger #foodblogger #wellnessblogger #womenswellnesstribe See more

14.01.2022 The heat is rising . As we enter our inner summer aka ovulation. Which is the main event in my opinion, healthy ovulation is an indicator of optimal progesterone levels which is important for preventing PMS, normalizing sleep patterns, supporting healthy libiodo and mood, skin health and much more . Ovulation occurs once in our cycle when we get a surge of luteinizing hormone which triggers the release of the follicle from the ovary. Once the egg is released it can live u...p to 12-24 hrs. This is known as our fertile window, however sperm can only survive for up to 5 days internally . If you track your basal body temperature (BBT) you will notice that this is when your BBT increases. It will stay elevated during the remainder of your luteal phase. This can also affect your energy levels for the better which makes it the perfect time to go for that extra run or HIIT workout . During this phase we want to focus on nutrients that support the liver clearance of estrogen by consuming foods such as kale, broccoli, onions, garlic and radishes. B vitamins such as B6 are important for energy production, mood and hormone regulation throughout the month so eating things such as avocados, bananas, lentils, brown rice, soybeans, sunflower seeds and whole grains can help . #ovulation #balance #nutritionist #healthynourishedhormones #nourish #womenshealth #innersummer #menstrualcycle #aussiemum #mumlife #consciousparenting #blessedmama #aussiefamily #mindfulparenting #mumblogger #foodblogger #wellnessblogger See more

14.01.2022 We are the nurturers, we are the healers, we are the comforters, we are the cheerleaders But we are also important!! Self-care as a mum can but super hard but it is also super important. You cant pour from an empty cup is a saying that is very true. You need to put yourself first even if its for 5 mins so you can enjoy a HOT coffee or go to bed early to read your favourite book, getting up early to complete your daily yoga, meditation or journaling practice ... How did you fill your mum cup today ? . . #mumlife #selfcare #selflove #fillyourcup #happylife #love #healthylife #selflove #balance #instaquote #nutritionist #nutrition #health #wellness #inspiration #fitfam #fitfood #fitspo #healthymum #eatclean #instafood #instahealth #instagood #nourish #blogger #mumblogger #mumbloggeraus

13.01.2022 http://Hormone Loving Fats// Did you know that healthy fats are the backbone of our hormones and are vital for optimal hormonal health & balance. I know a lot of women who are trying to lose weight and limit their fat intake which can cause havoc on their hormones. So making sure youre consuming healthy fats is vital for creating healthy hormones ... The average women needs to consume at least 2 serves (14-20g) of healthy fats per day. Some of my favourite sources of healthy fats are flaxseeds, coconut oil, olive oil, avocado, grass fed butter and wild caught salmon #healthynourishedhormones #womenshealth #hormoneimbalance #healthyhormones #fertilityjourney #hormonalbalancing #hormonehealth #bodypositive #fertilitydiet See more

13.01.2022 Spring has sprung . Our internal spring starts as we begin to emerge from our inner winter. This phase begins at menstruation and lasts all the way through to ovulation. This is a time of growth and creation . Follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH) are released from your pituitary gland. They stimulate the growth and maturation of follicles in preparation for ovulation. FSH and LH also trigger the increase of estrogen which is at its peak, making it... the dominant hormone during this phase. . During this phase we want to focus on proper estrogen detoxification and clearance by eating lots of liver supporting, fibrous, protein and mineral rich foods . Focus on sprouted and fermented foods like broccoli sprouts, kimchi, and sauerkraut. Sulfur rich foods are great for helping the metabolism of estrogen through the liver so think broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage. Fibre also helps with the clearance of excess estrogen through the bowel which helps stop it from being reabsorbed. Flaxseeds are a great source of both fibre and healthy fats perfect for binding up any excess estrogen . . #balance #nutritionist #nourish #womenshealth #innerspring #menstrualcycle #aussiemum #mumlife #consciousparenting #blessedmama #aussiefamily #brisbanemums #sunshinecoastmums #goldcoastmum #mindfulparenting #mumblogger #foodblogger #wellnessblogger See more

12.01.2022 http://Luteal Phase// . The leaves are beginning to fall. Our luteal phase aka our inner autumn, just as the season slows down in preparation for winter as do we need to slow down in preparation for our menstrual phase. Your energy levels may be low during this time so doing some light to moderate exercise may be best such as yoga . Progesterone (pro-gestation) becomes the dominant hormone during this phase as its main role at this point is to maintain a pregnancy. Its produ...ced by the empty ruptured follicle (corpus luteum) from your ovulation phase. If pregnancy does not occur then the corpus luteum will start to die and the drop in progesterone will cause the lining of the uterus to fall away (known as menstruation) . Progesterone increases your body temperature which you would notice if your charting your cycle, this in turn can increase our metabolic rate. Progesterone is also a calming hormone which can help bring a calmness to any feelings of anxiety or if your having trouble sleeping . During this phase you want to focus on foods that will produce serotonin, like leafy greens, quinoa, and buckwheat. . . Youll also want to focus on magnesium-rich foods that fight fatigue and low libido, like dark chocolate, spinach, and pumpkin seeds. . . If youre prone to craving carbohydrates during this phase make sure they are complex carbs such as brown rice, pasta or bread as husks are filled with energy, stress supporting B vitamins and fibre to help curb cravings and balance you moods. . . During your luteal phase is a good time to also cut down on caffeine and alcohol, as these stimulants can aggravate PMS triggered anxiety and mood shifts. So try some alternatives like sparkling water with lemon or other fruits, herbal teas, dandelion root coffee or even swap your morning latte for a decaf. Do you track your menstrual cycle? Make sure to save this if you found help or even tag a friend who might make this helpful . . . #healthynourishedhormones #womenshealth #hormoneimbalance #healthyhormones

08.01.2022 http://Estrogen Basics// . Estrogen has many roles in the body, from controlling puberty to strengthening our bones and even maintaining normal cholesterol levels. Estrogen also affects our brain, heart and skin. Having too much or too little estrogen can cause a range of different hormonal conditions. Did you know Estrogens are actually a group of hormones!!... . There are actually three naturally occurring forms of estrogen.well four but one is only made during pregnancy . Estrone (E1) This is a weak form of estrogen and is produced by our adrenal glands and fatty tissue. It is the only type of estrogen produced after menopause. It can be converted from estrone to estradiol and estradiol to estrone. . Estradiol (E2) This is the one most people are familiar with and its normally the only one that doctors will test for. This is the strongest form of estrogen and is produced mostly by the ovaries. . Estriol (E3) This is the weakest of the estrogens and is actually a chemical waste product made after the body uses estradiol. Estriol cannot be converted to either E2 or E1. The main problem with only testing for E2 is that your results may come back fine but your E3 or E1 may be out of balance. So I always recommend getting a complete hormone profile to get a better understanding of your estrogen levels especially if you suffer from conditions such as endometriosis. Have you had your hormones tested lately? #healthynourishedhormones #womenshealth #estrogen #hormoneimbalance #healthyhormones

Seed cycling works by alternating different types of seeds during the different phases of your cycle, to provide the body with a timely dose of both essential fatty acids and nutrients Simply take a tablespoon of each seed and blitz them in a coffee grinder to break them down. The ground seeds can then be added to your morning smoothie, on top of your morning oats, avocado, yoghurt or as a garnish on salads, soups and curries Make sure to save this post or tag a friend who might find this helpful especially if youre looking for nutritious ways to support your hormones #seedcycling #hormonebalance #hormones #healthynourishedhormones #womenshealth #eatrightforyourhormones

05.01.2022 PCOS is one of the most common hormonal endocrine disorders among women. It affects 8%-20% of women worldwide. There is no need to suffer alone and early diagnosis can make a huge difference to managing symptoms and improving your quality of life . Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome is characterised by ovarian cysts, increased androgens, high testosterone levels, insulin sensitivity, cycle irregularities, amenorrhea and anovulation, hirsutism, fertility concerns, acne and weight ...gain. . Managing your symptoms naturally is easier than it may seem by simply implementing a few dietary changes can make a huge difference . Consume lean protein at each meal but limit red meat intake. Increase dietary fibre to help reduce circulating blood glucose as well as helping with hormone clearance. Increase phytoestrogens in the diet such as flaxseeds and oil as well as soy (genistein) which can improve total cholesterol and LDL/HDL ratio. Increase foods rich in omega 3 (EPA/DHA) such as salmon, flaxseeds and walnuts to help improve insulin sensitivity and reduce inflammation. Reduce processed/refined carbohydrates and increase low GI foods to help control blood sugar levels. Minimise all forms of sugar as sugar can contribute to elevated blood sugar levels which can contribute to PCOS symptomology. . . #balance #nutritionist #nourish #womenshealth #pcos #hormoneimbalance #aussiemum #mumlife #consciousparenting #blessedmama #aussiefamily #brisbanemums #sunshinecoastmums #goldcoastmum #mindfulparenting #mumblogger #foodblogger #wellnessblogger See more

05.01.2022 http://The OCP & Nutrient depletion// The importance of supporting your body while youre on or coming off the OCP is vital to help maintain and restore balance to your body especially for your hormonal health.
