24.01.2022 It was sad to see Bill, Jocelyn and Patch driving south out of Denham this afternoon. Bill and Jocelyn have made an enormous contribution to the Shark Bay community over the past two and a half years. Not only through their roles in spreading the Gospel and providing emotional support through their various activities associated with Bill’s Ministry at the Shark Bay Shellblock Church but also through their enthusiastic participation in many community groups the Shark Bay Entertainers, the Friendly Hub, the Men’s Shed and as key players in the Holy Rollers Bowls team. I am sure all members of our community will wish Bill and Jocelyn well in their future endeavours in Geraldton and will make them welcome any time they wish to venture north in the future.

23.01.2022 Sunday 28th June at 9.00am at the Shellblock Church will be the final Service for Bill & Jocelyn Ross after 3 years honorary ministry in Shark Bay. Bishop Gary Nelson will be visiting from Geraldton to mark the occasion. He will speak at the Service, & he & his wife Christine (photograph ) will join the congregation for a farewell lunch afterwards. Bishop Gary will meet town leaders, business people & residents at a Sundowner at the Bowling Club on Saturday evening 27th June, to outline the church’s plans for continuing ministry in Shark Bay. Bill & Jocelyn will return to Geraldton, to fill two small roles in the Church Office, drawing on their 50 years of ministry experience in the North West. They are looking forward to being able to spend more time with their children & grandchildren.

22.01.2022 Vale Jimmy Poland Jimmy was born & lived his life in Shark Bay. He played a big part in the establishment of the fishing industry here, & probably taught a lot of young fishermen along the way. In later years he turned his hand to carving beautiful animal jewellery items from shells. He was a familiar sight on his gopher along Knight Terrace, and at the Café in the morning with his friends. He fought long and hard at the end. He is now at rest.

16.01.2022 Condolences Bill & Jocelyn Ross and the members of St Andrew’s Church mourn the death of Joe Borisoff, and extend our loving condolences to our sister Fay. We thank God for Joe’s 90 years of life, and the 20 years he lived here in the Bay, & all he contributed in that time. Fay has given herself whole heartedly to caring for Joe in his latter years, amidst her many voluntary commitments, notably St John Ambulance & the Anglican Church, and she will sorely miss her soul mate and companion. So will Toohey of recent years. There is a time for everything, a time to be born and a time to die, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing, a time to love and a time for peace. Ecclesiastes 3: 1 8

11.01.2022 At St Andrews by the Sea we are all volunteers sharing God’s love, care & provision with one another & with members of our community in Shark Bay. We pray this will provide encouragement to all volunteers at this time when our way of doing those much appreciated acts of kindness has been different and to keep it going into the future. God bless you in your love & service of him in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Bill and Jocelyn Ross

11.01.2022 Our church service commences at 9am as usual tomorrow. The 'unusual' part will be that we will be joining the Kalbarri Anglican congregation via Zoom. The service will be presented by the Reverend David Day. Morning tea will be held as usual after the service. We hope you can join us.

09.01.2022 The Reverend Rod Williams will be coming from Carnarvon on Sunday to personally conduct the morning service and deliver Holy Communion. Service begins as usual at 9am.

04.01.2022 Au revoir! Bill & Jocelyn Ross will be at the Bowling Club for the Sunday Roast this Sunday 28th June. If any of the nice people we’ve met over the past 3 years would like to catch up with us before our departure to Geraldton on Wednesday 1st July are welcome to join us there. Bookings for the meal are required (0400 625 138), but Saturday’s easing of covid-19 restrictions means you can come for a drink without a meal or needing to be seated. We would love to see you then.

02.01.2022 Condolences John Sellenger Bill & Jocelyn Ross and the members of St Andrew’s Church mourn the death of John Sellenger, and extend our loving condolences to Mahalah & all her family. We thank God for John’s 80 years of life, & all he contributed in many different roles in Shark Bay during their many years here. He will be remembered as holding the office of Shire President during the time of negotiations & settlement of Shark Bay gaining World Heritage status. In recent years... John was a familiar upright figure taking a walk along the foreshore in the morning. Mahalah has given herself whole-heartedly to caring for John in his latter years, whilst maintaining her little shop & daily recording the weather, and she will sorely miss her soul mate and companion. Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Jesus. See more
