25.01.2022 The 4th foundation of mindfulness. Mindfulness of phenomena. All phenomena arise from causes and conditions.

22.01.2022 "Just be quiet and patient. Let evil and unpleasantness pass quietly over you. Do not try to avoid them. On the contrary, observe them carefully. Let active understanding take the place of reflex irritation, and you will grow out of your trouble. Men can achieve greatness only by surmounting their own littleness." Franz Kafka https://www.brainpickings.org//conversations-with-kafka-/

15.01.2022 Choose one today. Pay attention, moment-to-moment, with friendly, open curiosity. Feel the joy. Notice how it feels in the body. Give thanks.

07.01.2022 Kindness makes all the difference in the world.

07.01.2022 What do you value? Mindfulness practice (especially when combined with reflective practice) helps us connects with (or re-connect with), and clarify, our core values. Clarifying our values helps us make sense of, and give meaning to our actions, reactions and experiences. This practice can give rise to HOPE when we need it most.... How is your mindfulness practice helping you find clarity and hope during this time of uncertainty? What do you value? These uncertain times have renewed my faith in the value of daily mindfulness practice, and made clear the value of human kindness and connection - with each other and with nature. For me, these things matter - a lot! Every day I feel grateful for my meditation and mindfulness practice. Curiously and somewhat disconcertingly these uncertain times have flowed into these practices. After years of disciplined and routine meditation practice and spontaneously arising mindfulness, when and how focussed these practices are in my day, has become as uncertain as the trajectory of pandemic and its socio-cultural, environmental, economic and geopolitical effects. Practicing mindfulness, connecting with kindness to each other and the natural environment restores a sense of hope and resilience, despite the otherwise seemingly ubiquitous evidence to the contrary. 04.01.2022 We tell people to reach out for help when they are suffering but it’s in these darkest times that many of us just can’t, we are just too sad, frightened and don...’t want to be a burden when we are feeling so vulnerable and not ourselves. This is why it’s so important to reach in, notice a loved ones absence and maybe some unusual or reckless behaviours, check in with genuine kindness and concern, listen with out judgement, love unconditionally and just be there because you care

02.01.2022 If you're lucky enough to be living on Magnetic Island and are struggling with a busy or worrying mind, this is a precious opportunity. Helene and I were trained in the practice and teaching of Calm Abiding Meditation by Tibetan master, Lama Choedak Yuthok in 2004. Subsequently we have taught many classes and the technique has been part of my daily meditation practice. This course will benefit complete beginners, occasional dabblers and experienced meditators. Places are strictly limited and bookings are essential.
