19.01.2022 PAPRIKA:- Adding a dash (or two) of paprika to your meals can, surprisingly, offer advantages to your health. Its actually loaded with essential vitamins and minerals, carotenoids and antioxidants that can deliver many benefits to your body. Here are some of the benefits you can get from paprika: It may help maintain eye health. ... There are four carotenoids in paprika, namely lutein, zeaxanthin, beta-cryptoxanthin and beta-carotene. All these function as antioxidants that may help prevent cellular damage. Lutein and zeaxanthin in particular are essential for preventing age-related macular degeneration and cataracts. Meanwhile, beta-cryptoxanthin and beta-carotene are converted into vitamin A that is used in the eyes to turn light into vision and is a necessary component to produce the protein that makes skin. Paprika helps promote blood formation and healthy circulation. The copper and iron in paprika are essential for the formation of new blood cells. This spice may also act as a vasodilator because of its high potassium levels, and may reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke and atherosclerosis. You may improve your sleep with paprika. The vitamin B6 in paprika may have efficient psychological and neurological effects. It also promotes melatonin production and enhances your levels of norepinephrine and serotonin, hormones that are linked to mood and happiness. This spice may even help heal wounds. The vitamin E in paprika may aid in red blood cell production and even in forming clots to promote faster healing of cuts, scrapes and wounds. May help relieve pain. Capsaicin, the active ingredient in peppers that gives them their spiciness, can relax blood vessels and relieve pain. Its even used in topical creams. We actually sell a product called Stiff Sore and Sorry which is great that has Capsaicin in it. Had fantastic results!!

18.01.2022 St Marys Thistle (Silybum marianum L. Family ASTERACEAE) and our Liver :- Well its that time of the year where we are looking into giving our body the best!! Especially after Christmas celebrations of overindulgence of food, drink and stress in all forms. Our liver is one of your bodys hardest working organs. Among other functions, its responsible for many aspects of digestion, including the metabolism of fats, proteins and carbohydrates, regulation of blood glucose and the... processing and detoxification of drugs, alcohol and hormones. It also produces the bile thats stored and subsequently released by the gall bladder, the healthy flow of which plays a critical role in both the digestion of fats and the maintenance of bowel regularity. Exposure to toxins or over-indulgence in alcohol or foods that are rich in fats or carbohydrates can add to your livers workload, and may leave you feeling sluggish, tired, nauseous, or constipated. If your livers detoxification processes are out of balance, your liver may also be subjected to an accumulation of free radicals, which may lead to a condition known as oxidative stress, in which the structure and functioning of its cells becomes impaired. In Western herbal medicine, st Marys Thistle (Milk Thistle) is traditionally regarded as a liver tonic and is taken to support healthy liver and gall bladder function, help maintain healthy bile flow, and relieve mild liver and gall bladder complaints. Its traditionally considered particularly beneficial for promoting the healthy functioning of the livers detoxification processes, including during times of exposure to toxins or over-indulgence in food or alcohol. These traditional uses are supported by scientific evidence showing that Milk Thistle and some of its active constituents (specifically a group of antioxidant compounds called flavanolignans, including silybin) have a protective effect on the liver, helping to safeguard its cells against toxins. Theyve also been shown to support the regeneration and renewal of liver. It may also help to relieve a wide range of digestive symptoms that may be related to poor liver and gall bladder function (including indigestion, flatulence and bloating) and help to maintain regular healthy bowel motions.

17.01.2022 Available at Health Essentials Maitland NSW Cordyceps:- Cordyceps sinensis are so highly valued in Traditional Chinese Medicine that they were exclusively available to the emperors family in ancient China. TCM traditionally used Cordyceps as an adaptogen and immunosupportive herb, to support the kidney and lung systems. Cordyceps grows wild in the Himalayan foothills of Tibet and Bhutan, where it infects and then devours the pupal stage (or caterpillar) of ghost moths. Fro...m this caterpillar, it grows a grass-shaped fruiting body, which then releases spores for reproduction. Due to the unique nature of its development, the Chinese named it winter worm summer grass. Wild C. sinensis is both expensive and rare. Recently, cultivated varieties (Cordyceps militaris) have been developed. These Cordyceps fruiting bodies are cultivated on nutritious barley substrate, and they are therefore vegan. Research has shown that C. militaris and C. sinensisprovide similar support, and they are used interchangeably in TCM and other branches of herbalism. A mushroom goes through many stages during its life cycle, just like any plant or animal. Each part of a mushroom has unique attributes that support wellness and serve a different purpose for the organism, but its the fruiting bodies that receive the most attention and are the most familiar. Fruiting bodies emerge from the substrate on which they grow such as trees or fallen logs to become the part of the mushroom we recognize. Theyre the above-ground part that we can see when we walk through the woods, and theyre also what have been traditionally foraged and consumed, in food and supplements. TRADITIONAL HEALTH BENEFITS OF CORDYCEPS Energy Support Immune Support WHAT IS CORDYCEPS USED FOR? Modern herbalists use Cordyceps to support healthy stamina and physical energy levels. * It is considered to be an immune modulator and adaptogen that promotes overall endocrine health, and it is used to support the liver and kidneys. * Cordyceps provides antioxidant support, and it also has been used to support normal, healthy male fertility. * Cordyceps' diverse functions make it similar to a conductor within the body, supporting the communication between the adrenals (they control the body's natural stress response) and a number of aspects of the immune system. * The fruiting bodies of this mushroom contain polysaccharides, specifically a type called beta-glucans, which have been studied to support immune health and overall wellness, as well as normal, healthy cell growth and turnover.

07.01.2022 Another favorite I put in a sleep mix and recommended to people who have repetitive worrying thoughts and mental arguments..... the bach flower, White Chestnut:- ...is the remedy for unwanted thoughts and mental arguments that intrude into the mind and stop us concentrating. White Chestnut thoughts are often described as 'worrying' - but they are not necessarily anxious or fearful, more repetitive. They worry at us like a dog worries a bone. White Chestnut thoughts go nowher...e. They circle round and round in the head like a looped recording. The remedy helps us think straight. We can deal calmly and rationally with any underlying problems that might be causing the trouble. Dr Edward Bach's description:- For those who cannot prevent thoughts, ideas, arguments which they do not desire from entering their minds. Usually at such times when the interest of the moment is not strong enough to keep the mind full. Thoughts which worry and will remain, or if for a time thrown out, will return. They seem to circle round and round and cause mental torture. The presence of such unpleasant thoughts drives out peace and interferes with being able to think only of the work or pleasure of the day. - The Twelve Healers and Other Remedies Affirmation:- the perfect method of learning this is by calm thought and meditation, and by bringing ourselves to such an atmosphere of peace that our Souls are able to speak to us through our conscience and intuition and to guide us according to their wishes. [Bach: Collected Writings] Emotional State:- For a pattern of thoughts which constantly repeats and gives no rest to the mind, continual internal argument, worry and chatter, mental congestion. Thoughts circulate without resolution, going over and over the same conflict, preoccupation that obstructs clarity, a drama forever re-enacted in the mind and gives no rest. Symptoms may include tiredness, insomnia, confusion, depression, guilt feelings, repetition of a topic in conversation, lack of calmness, nervous worry, often causes headaches. Combinations:- White Chestnut is in my sleep mix. Also in Rest and Exam combinations. Habitat:- General Chestnut is tolerant of most soils and conditions but requires full light and space to grow. It is generally seen as a planted tree in parkland and gardens.

05.01.2022 Simple ways to help fight viruses and build your immunity:- Vitamin D (in moderate doses):- Research has shown that the immune system needs vitamin D to fight off viruses while it won't protect your from getting the virus if you're exposed, it could reduce the severity of the illness and help make recovery easier.... It's also a common cause of nutrient deficiency. You can get vitamin D naturally through sunlight, which many people have less access to during darker, colder months of flu season. It's also found in some foods, including fatty fish like salmon, tuna and mackerel, and in small amounts in beef liver, eggs, cheese, and mushrooms. Sleeping:- is crucial for your body's ability to recover and defend itself. Getting plenty of sleep is your best bet to stay health, whether there's an outbreak or not. One of the most evidence-supported ways to stay healthy, though, also happens to be free getting enough sleep. That means 7-9 hours each night for most people. While you're asleep, your body uses that time to do critical recovery and repair of essential functions, including your immune system. Just one night of poor sleep can reduce your immune cells by as much as 70%, research shows. Exercise:- can boost your mood as well as keep you healthy. Getting up and moving can help keep you healthy and happy. Exercise can also keep your body functioning well, since research shows that it reduces inflammation and supports infection-fighting cells. If you're working from home or staying out of the gym, there are plenty of ways to still get your sweat on body weight movements like burpees, lunges, push-ups and more can give you a quick full-body workout with no equipment. As an added bonus, endorphins from exercise also reduce stress. Wash hands:- It's extremely important to was your hands regularly with foamy soap. Stress:- With all the stresses around with this virus it's important to relax by doing yoga, taichi, being in your garden, meditate, read a good book. Do what makes you feel more relaxed. Stay positive. Laughter has been found to lower levels of stress hormones, reduce inflammation in the arteries, and increase "good" HDL cholesterol. Most importantly don't forget to breathe!!! Alcohol:- If you drink alcohol, do so in moderation. Drinking too much can make you feel worse and more vulnerable. During the stress of a viral outbreak, and the pressure of being stuck at home for long periods of time, it might seem natural to turn to some liquid courage and stress relief. The occasional glass of wine in moderation is unlikely to be a threat, particularly if it has the benefits of helping you relax. But avoid overdoing it not only will you feel worse, you will need to rehydrate and rest even more.
