25.01.2022 Feedback is a topic that we get asked about on a regular basis. It can be described as whistle coming from the hearing aids. Feedback happens when the amplified sound produced by the hearing aid speaker is picked up by the hearing aid microphone. This video discusses feedback and ways that we can prevent this from happening.

25.01.2022 After this news story aired we received some interest from some of our clients regarding this technology from Oticon. Being an independent hearing aid provider Sharon King Hearing is able to fit any hearing aid manufacturer. This helps us keep our clients up to date with the newest hearing aid technology. We recently fitted an Oticon OPN S hearing aid to one our patients, he reported that he had difficulties communicating with friends and family at social gatherings. Since ...wearing the hearing aids, he is finding he is no longer finding it exhausting to communicate with friends, and can finally participate in group conversations. If you are interested in updating your current aids or looking at taking the exciting step in getting your first set please do not hesitate to contact our friendly team on (02) 6766 2100

11.01.2022 How loud is too loud? If your surroundings are so loud that you need to raise your voice to be heard, the noise is loud enough to damage your ears. Wearing ea...rplugs or other protective gear is the way to go. Very loud noise or prolonged exposure to even moderately loud noise can cause permanent damage your hearing. See more

11.01.2022 While restrictions ease a little from Friday here's a reminder from NSW Health to continue to "wash your hands like you mean it".

10.01.2022 Do people often make comments about a whistling sound whenever you're around? Unless you're always at sporting matches, or have a bird on your shoulder, it might be your hearing aid. Whistling sounds can be generated when the ear pieces are incorrectly shaped or not well adjusted to the ear canal. The amplified sound coming out of the ear mold is picked up again and amplified by the internal microphone. It's also commonly known as 'feedback'. If the feedback you're getting is not on the positive (or at least constructive!) side, come in to our office or phone for an appointment for a thorough analysis from our team. We'll find the cause and offer the best solution

05.01.2022 Change the word "patients" to "people" and there is something in this for everyone. Our friends from Better Hearing Australia shared this advise and we thought we should share it with you. *Speak slowly and clearly. Do not shout. *Show your face if it is safe to be unmasked. *Write down key points.... *Embrace technology. Live captioning on telehealth or transcription apps for calls *Act out instructions *Check for understanding *Encourage questions. See more

04.01.2022 Is social distancing making it tougher to hear? For people with hearing difficulties, face masks and physical distance can make it even harder to communicate. M...ore than ever, the right hearing aids are essential.
