17.01.2022 You all know by now how I love plants that give on more than one level, here is another one Rosella. Hibiscus sabdariffa. Young leaves can be eaten raw or cooked as a green. Seeds can be made into a tea for an upset tummy, used as a nature source of petin or saved for next years season. Flowers can be eaten raw cooked or used as garnish.... Calyces can be eaten raw added to a salad for a sourness crunch or dried and used for teas or my favorite made into sweet tart deep red jams . and at the end of the season a wonder mulch. It is a beautful/perfect plant to grow in brisbane climate. #rosellajam #jam #rosella #gardening #Autumn #subtropical See more

12.01.2022 No herbs or weeds in this post, just the larges fruit in the world. The might jack fruit. We dont eat pork but I wanted to try a pulled fo-pork for my bbq flavours loving family. I asked a friend with a tree for a green fruit and off I went. Quite a easy recipe overall the only tricky part was all the latex inside the fruit (white stuff you can see in the 1st picture). Would love to know what the local used it for. #jackfruit #bbq #fopork #vegan #recipe #yum #noharmtoanimals #stubbs #barbque

11.01.2022 The husband came limping through the door this morning after hurting his ankle. 1st thing 1st no time to waste Comfrey oil has to go on. than R.I.C.E (rest, ice, compression, evelate.)after work will reply with a comfrey poultice. Comfery has wonderful longgggg history of healing. The name comfrey is latin ' confera' meaning knitting together . The genus Symphytum means to heal together. I think the husband is in good hands with me and comfrey. # 1staid #comfrey # poultice #herbs #owies #rice #recovery #nodoctorneeded

05.01.2022 Forgot to share the beautiful raw cheesecake I made with our Queensland bunya nut, lemon myrtle, bush passionfruit and locals kind honey. Ummm yum!!

03.01.2022 The nutmeg bush/ Tetradenia riparia. It has a cloud of pale mauve flowers and only shows them in winter. Did you know that the Male and female flowers occur on separate plants? I think with the male put on a more spectacular flowering display. The leaves are so aromatic you will smell them before you see it.... You are unlikely to find seeds on your plant unless it it a female with a male in close proximity. The nutmeg bush has antibacterial and antiseptic qualities and great for cold and flu's I guess thats why it puts on such a great show in winter. See more
