25.01.2022 Feeling all the gratitude for this beautiful day. Just finished an incredible Shirodhara treatment at Onyesha spa. Now enjoying a herbal tea listening to the kookaburras laughing nearby.

24.01.2022 I love this definition of our strengths. In my opinion, the corporate world is not good at using peoples strengths. I believe there would be fewer 40 plus women feeling old and stuck in their corporate jobs if they were recognised for and actively using their strengths. I know whenever I was teaching, mentoring or training I felt exactly like this - time flew and a need in me was met everytime. This was when I was my best for both myself and the company.

24.01.2022 This article on power posing for confidence would have been useful during my final years in a Corporate job. If you are like I was and receiving regular criticism, have a read and see how you could apply these principles in your own life.

22.01.2022 As an older woman in Corporate I felt invisible, unheard and unseen which I believe is not an uncommon experience. I did not have the courage then to show up and let myself be seen. Perhaps the Corporate world would not have been such an uncomfortable place for me if I had found that courage.

20.01.2022 It's that time of year again - End of Financial Year! While this year feels a bit different with the challenges the world faces, it's more important than ever that small businesses use this time to take stock of where their business is at.

19.01.2022 Staying vulnerable is a risk we have to take if we want to experience connection. Brene Brown Connection is my word for 2019. Brenes research has found that we cant have connection or empathy without vulnerability so that is something I am embracing this year. This short video is wonderful and its also worth watching her TEDx talk on vulnerability.

18.01.2022 "Its not joy that makes us grateful, its gratitude that makes us joyful." Brene Brown According to Brenes research one of the most powerful ways to bring joy into our lives is to have a tangible gratitude practice. My six year old and I have a daily gratitude practice. When I tuck him into bed at night we talk about one thing we were thankful for today. Hes still at that beautiful age where often his answer is his Mummy .

14.01.2022 Another quick tip to incorporate meditation and mindfulness into the everyday. You can use this tip a hundred times in a day. It really helps me remain calm and balanced throughout my day.

14.01.2022 The last couple of years Ive worked hard to create a life and career that I love. I certainly feel more confident that Ive felt in years. So imagine my surprise when I took the confidence quiz to discover that psychologically I have low confidence. Apparently, this is not uncommon for women and has certainly inspired me to learn more about confidence and how I can have more of it.

13.01.2022 This article was written six years ago and Id like to think we are moving closer to a world where our leaders (male or female) embrace feminine qualities. Jacinda Ardern is the perfect example of a leader embracing both feminine and masculine qualities to great effect as she leads New Zealand.

12.01.2022 In Corporate, I found that as I got older I lost confidence in myself and my abilities. I think our younger millennial friends understand this quote better than Gen X. We dont need to fake it until we make it but until we become it!

11.01.2022 Not feeling valued or appreciated is a common complaint of many women over 40. Whether that be in our jobs, our homes, by our children or loved ones. There are many small steps we can take to feel more valued and remind yourself that "I have value". A good place to start is to practice asking for what you need.

09.01.2022 Ive been doing lots of reading lately about women and confidence. Did you know womens brains are wired in a way that makes confidence more challenging than for men? Confidence is about taking action, which can be difficult for women. Ill be sharing some interesting research over the next few weeks about how women can increase their confidence.

09.01.2022 My family and I went to Disneyworld late last year and I recorded a podcast interview on how it went. This combined four of my favourite things in the whole world: my family, travel, planning and Disney!!

08.01.2022 My word for 2020 is vitality. Being creative and playing are part of living a life full of vitality. So it was incredible to spend the morning creating with Arty Brellas while hanging out with old and new friends.

08.01.2022 I was a guest on The Thoughtful Travel Podcast a couple of months ago talking about two of my great passions. Travel and Research . Doesnt travel planning begin two years in advance for everyone ?

07.01.2022 As a single Mum to a young child, flexibility was very important to me when I set up my business. Being available for school drop offs, sports days and art roster became a priority so I chose time over money. However, I do still live in the real world with responsibilities and financial obligations. Having a personal budget helped me understand how much I need my business to earn to meet these obligations. I have structured aspects of my business (such as marketing) to me...et these obligations while achieving my personal goals. That is just one way Im building a business that supports the goals and priorities in my life right now. The kitten spam is just one of the things I love about my home business. Fizzy and Sparkle love having me home during the day (mainly for the heater)!!

06.01.2022 My recent experience in Corporate was that the lower level male leaders were more likely to embrace their feminine qualities than many of the female leaders. I would like to think we can move towards a Corporate culture where women dont feel the need to act like men in order to succeed.

05.01.2022 I love spot meditations especially when life feels busy. This one minute body scan can make such a difference to how you move through your day and it doesnt take up much time. I like to do this meditation every time I have a glass of water. It bring me back in touch with myself and my body.

05.01.2022 Meditation Tip Did you know you can use painting your nails as a form of meditation? If you focus all your attention on your nails and the sensation of the polish being applied while consciously relaxing, that is meditating. How easy is that! Thanks to my lovely friend Julie for the tip.

05.01.2022 Its that time of year again - End of Financial Year! While this year feels a bit different with the challenges the world faces, its more important than ever that small businesses use this time to take stock of where their business is at.

05.01.2022 This week marks the two year anniversary of leaving my Corporate job to start my own business. So to celebrate, Ive recorded a podcast interview with the amazing Shandra Moran from The Transit Lounge about career change after 40. https://www.thetransitlounge.com//career-change-after-40-/

04.01.2022 This is a perfect meditation for those who dont like sitting still! Who would have thought exercising could also be meditation.

04.01.2022 This is a fascinating discussion on the confidence gap between men and women. A fear of failure often holds women back from action. Action is essential for confidence so it doesnt surprise me that a confidence gap exists.

03.01.2022 I love Kristin Neffs research on self-compassion. She has identified one of the three key components of self-compassion is common humanity. The idea that suffering is part of being human and something every single one of us will experience. Understanding this has made an enormous impact on how I practice self-compassion. When something bad has happened reminding myself that I am not alone, this is part of being human, helps me feel connected rather than isolated in my suffering.

03.01.2022 I have a very well developed inner mean girl. I fall into unkind self talk easily and have struggled to recognise that I am doing it. It has made using self-compassion difficult because I dont realise I need it. I started using the self-compassion journal tool and for the first time in my life I am catching my unkind self talk as it starts. Life Changing!!

02.01.2022 Do you know what your top character strengths are? Are you using them in your job and life? The free VIA character strengths survey is a wonderful way to find out. My top 5 strengths are social intelligence, kindness, love of learning, gratitude and appreciation of beauty and excellence. I feel most in flow with life when I am using these strengths.

02.01.2022 How would you split up 100 self development hours between what youre good at, what youre average at and what youre bad at? Those of us in the corporate world would be familiar with the personal development plan! You know the plan where you work out what you are bad at and come up with actions for how you are going to get less bad at those things. I always felt uncomfortable with this approach and it turns out I was right. The most successful people in the world foc...us on their strengths not their weaknesses. If I was still working in the Corporate world I think I might want to give this a go - make a plan for how Im going to spend more time developing the things Im good at. "When it comes to your skills invest in your strengths and when it comes to your qualities invest in your weaknesses" Jay Shetty

01.01.2022 Im the featured business of the month at Wise Matildas. So thrilled to be part of this wonderful community of business women.
