25.01.2022 I suspect we have an imposter

25.01.2022 Love this ewe lamb I snapped these piccies this morning... This beauty is 1 month old today. My only complaint about her is she doesnt like her photo being taken Sired by Zeus (Dell 170527)

24.01.2022 We had the most amazing sunset here the other arvo I had to share.... The sheep in the first photo are some of our commercial girls, the one with the patches is a Dorper cross White Dorper wether and the little Dorper cross White Dorper ewe lamb that was born a few week ago. She is beautiful .... Oh and of course one of the goats had to jump into the photo as well lol The first photo is when it was just about all over and the second photo is when I first noticed something magic happening in the sky. There is about 20 minutes difference between the photos.

23.01.2022 We are proud to be sponsors for two of the classes in the Dorper Sheep Society of Australia Inc. first online show... White Dorper Commercial Ewe class & Dorper Endurance Ram class... Good Luck to all of the entrants Check out all of the entries here.... https://auctionsplus.com.au/auctionV2/New/New/

22.01.2022 Isnt this fella gorgeous! He is a Dorper cross Damara, although he has more Dorper in him then Damara. He was sired by our Stud ram Floyd and his mum is the daughter of our gorgeous commercial ewe Lizzy. This boy is 4 weeks old and growing beautifully. He has been reserved and will head off to his lovely new home a bit later in the year

22.01.2022 "You cant always wait for the perfect time.... Sometimes you must dare to jump" ~Unknown~... Check out bub in the background getting some serious air

22.01.2022 Wahoo! We are stoked! After several months of virtually no rain, we have been lucky enough so far this week to receive around 60mm of much needed rain, 30mm of that received today..... The kids have had a blast playing in the mud, Mother Nature put on a spectacular show this afternoon, plus we found a cute little surprise down the paddock, we can already see the grass coming back in the paddocks as well. We are smiling ear to ear. Hopefully more rain tomorrow and this we...ekend So many photos to share from this afternoon these were some of our favourites See more

21.01.2022 Someone had a bit of a spring in their step today

20.01.2022 This handsome little man is the twin brother of our tiny bub... Thankfully we managed to save him, when I found both lambs they were both in a pretty bad way and very cold. This boy was unable to stand and a few minutes longer exposed to the freezing conditions we would have lost both lambs. I brought him up to the house and gave him electrolytes and warmed him up. Within minutes of doing that he was taking his first steps and not long after that I was able to return him to mum. For his safety we brought him inside for his first night because temperatures dropped so low overnight that night and with the wind chill I dont think he would have survived. I returned him to his mum the following morning and we havent looked back. He is 4 days old today and doing really well.

20.01.2022 Last year we were honoured to be chosen for the Public Choice Award in the Dorper Sheep Society of Australias annual photo comp. We have another chance this year but only with your help. Voting will only take a second...All you have to do to is click the link below to the Dorper Societies album and "LIKE" our photo, I have put a copy of the photo you are looking for in the comments of this post

19.01.2022 I have a little mystery for you to help me solve and would love to hear what you think is going on here .... Imagine this post like a comic each picture tells a story and is a clue or piece of the puzzle... Picture 1 - Meet ewe lamb 200014 (lamb on the left). She was born a single birth on Monday the 8th of June (Monday last week)... Picture 2 - Meet ewe lamb 200022 born Wednesday the 11th June (Last Wednesday). Whos name is now "Calypso" - which comes from the Greek meaning of "she who conceals" you will see why I named her this shortly... ...Now that I have introduced you to those two lambs, we need to rewind to a little earlier Wednesday morning... Wednesday morning I find a very fresh placenta on the ground but no ewe that had recently lambed and no lambs to go with the new placenta. Now I do realise that the ewe can birth the placenta a day or so later after giving birth but this seemed odd. This should have been a new birth. Wednesday afternoon I find number 200022 she has a fresh umbilical cord and looked newborn, so I found the lamb to match the placenta but still no ewe. The lamb was fed, she was energetic and bounding around but still no ewe. What was going on?. I decide that the lamb is being looked after and I will try and catch her with mum the next day. Thursday comes and I go down to check the lambs and this lamb is still not matched with a mum, she has definitely been fed and still very healthy, I go back in the afternoon and spend 3 hrs in the paddock trying to spot this lamb with mum, still no one claims her the whole time not even a sniff. I had tried a few tricks I picked up the lamb to see if mum would rush over, I had the dogs in the paddock with me to see if mum would come and protect the lamb. Nothing. Who has had this lamb?? Friday comes and I have still been unable to mother up this lamb, Who does she belong to?? Why cant I find her mother. Picture 3 - Saturday - 4 days after I found the placenta and lamb... I go down the paddock again hoping to find out who Calypso belongs to because she is obviously being cared for. When I go searching I find the scene in Picture 3, a ewe cuddling Calypso and number 14. Well she cant be the mother of Calypso she must be babysitting because she is the mother of 14 and number 14 was born on Monday. Picture 4- I move closer to the ewe and lambs and they all jump up and they BOTH start feeding from the ewe. So I have discovered who has been caring for 22 but now heres the question.... What do you think is going on here... a) Has this ewe stolen a lamb from another ewe? (Mind you no other ewes looked as though they had recently lambed) OR b) Has she given birth to Calypso 3 days after she gave birth to number 14? Cant wait to see what you think ?????

18.01.2022 The other afternoon we visited an unexpected, new arrival of a slightly different kind.... One of our does had a gorgeous buck kid, he is our first ever baby goat and oh my gosh they are just the cutest little things Safe to say the girls were pretty excited with his arrival also I am in love with his little floppy ears This little guys arrival was unexpected because we havent had our Billy long enough to have babies on the ground from him.

18.01.2022 Well if I wasnt busy enough, I have just been made that bit more busy ... At around 1.30pm today I popped out to check on our ewes because I had a feeling earlier this morning that a maiden was going to lamb... When I got to the paddock there was a different scene before me... in the middle of the paddock with the freezing wind howling across it I see a ewe (not the maiden I was expecting) standing next to twin babies one baby is tiny and looks dead and the other baby could ...not stand and was thrashing on the ground. I ran over to them to discover that in fact both were alive but very very weak and very cold and shaking, i think they may have been born maybe half an hour before i found them. I race them up to the house to get them warm, and get some electrolytes into them both. Within 15mins of the bigger lamb having the electrolytes he was standing and walking around he just needed that extra energy to get going, i took him back down to mum and he was doing amazing with her. I have brought him back up to the house to keep warm tonight but will reunite him in the morning with mum. It is extremely cold here tonight.... Then we have this other tiny bub, her eyes are still fused together she cant stand and she is tiny she is the size of a 600ml water bottle. I weighed her and she weighed 950g. She suckled the electrolytes and started lifting her head and moving her legs. I dont know if she will survive but we will give her the best chance we possibly can. She has had some colostrum and drank that eagerly. I dont expect her to stand or anything like that for atleast a week if we can get her to survive that long. In the meantime she is in intensive lamb care snuggled under a blanket, all fingers crossed she can pull through. I will keep you updated See more

17.01.2022 I am not sure what the cows have done ... But it looks like they have some explaining to do

16.01.2022 Thank you so much to everyone who supported us and voted for our photo! So exciting!

16.01.2022 Sheep! Do these girls look guilty? They should! They live on the otherside of the hessian, not this side of the hessian.... Jokes on them though, by going under then fence they have locked themselves into a pen to wait to be moved back to the paddock they are meant to be in Living in the pen at the moment is our mum and tiny bub. Mum and bub got some Lucerne for dinner, obviously these girls thought that their Lucerne was better then the Lucerne on their side of the f...ence lol ... Cant help but laugh when you check a pen expecting to see only a mum and bub to find another 10 sheep in the pen with her keeping her company Not the best photo sorry, for some reason my phone made the photo all out of proportion

15.01.2022 Our gorgeous commercial ewe "Lizzy" gave birth to, two big twin boys this afternoon Lizzy wasnt the only having twins today, we also had one of our stud ewes give birth to the most stunning twin girls this morning Sires of these gorgeous bubs... ... The sire of Lizzys bubs is unknown it could be any of three rams, although we are thinking most likely either Floyd (Tuckeroo 170023) or an up coming stud sire (Shayloe 190001). The twin girls born this morning were sired by Zeus (Dell 170527). Twinning on a Sunday, gotta love it!

15.01.2022 We have another future eligible bachelor here .... Gorgeous purebred Dorper ram lamb 6 weeks old.... Born to one of our beautiful commercial ewes and sired by our main man Floyd (Tuckeroo 170023)

14.01.2022 Thank you for your amazing review BAA LEE Dorpers We wish you all the best with your new girls!! So excited for you!!

14.01.2022 Wow! What a start to the morning

13.01.2022 No storm today .... The consolation prize - this stunning golden sunset

13.01.2022 SHAYLOE 200011 Check out this girl Those that have been following our page for awhile now may remember back last year when we popped up some photos of a stud ram lamb named Ace (Shayloe 190022) that we had for sale (photo of Ace attached). Ace was 6 months old when he left here on his new adventure. ... Well this beautiful lady is Ace's half sister ..... She is only 4 months old and is so big, long and solid, she is beautiful. Photos just don't do her justice. Ace was sired by Floyd (Tuckeroo 170023) and this beauty was sired by Zeus (Dell 170527). She is going to grow into something special What should we name her? I was thinking maybe Queenie? Keeping with the cards theme haha

11.01.2022 Sorry I have been a bit quiet. We have been flat out so I havent had much of a chance to pull the camera out lately. As soon as I can I will be back out there again snapping piccies. The lambs are growing so fast, they look great! So because I havent been out taking pictures something a little different from me today.... I have always loved drawing and painting, but since having kids I have had little time to put pencil to paper. It has actually been over 6 years since I have done a drawing maybe longer if I really think about it. It has been drizzling here today. Our girls were tired so they had an afternoon nap which doesnt happen often and I thought perfect time to pull out the old pencil and paper and have a go. I have enjoyed my afternoon so much, I had to share my results with you

11.01.2022 This little ewe lamb is wasting zero energy whilst drinking from mum These gorgeous bubs were sired by our handsome stud ram "Zeus" (Dell 170527)

10.01.2022 UPDATE Well our little super star made it through the night ... She has come through last night and today a lot stronger then she was yesterday. Yesterday she could barely lift her head. Today she can hold herself in a sitting position and if she falls over pull herself back up into the sitting position. She has also started dragging herself around on the ground. She is very demanding of me (typical dorper always thinking of her tummy) baaing for food from me. Had a giggle at how she drinks from her bottle with her tongue waving around in the wind as she suckles. Thank you everyone for the well wishes for her fingers crossed the improvements keep coming

09.01.2022 Check out this reverse sunset, even a sneaky lightning bolt What a day with storms across the south east today. We are thinking of all those that sustained damage today from the storms... Thankfully we missed anything nasty. The worst it got was a bit blowy at one stage, a tiny amount of hail and virtually no rain unfortunately. ... What we did get was an amazing sky to end the day with The first piccie is a panorama of the sky from this arvo

09.01.2022 This is our little high-jumpers twin sister They are Dorper cross White Dorper

08.01.2022 Nope not a goat This is Caramello we believe that her breed is a Meatmaster. Her mum came from a property where they had lost all but two of their sheep to dogs and their owners asked if we could take the two on. A few months passed and Caramello was born. She is so different looking to the Dorpers a lot smaller in her frame and build.... So what do you get when you put a purebred Dorper over a Meatmaster - a jet black lamb of course lol ... This little girl was born Thursday morning, unexpectedly lol. We knew Caramello was due any day. I had been down the paddock Thursday morning and checked the sheep and found some new bubs but not Caramellos. She was just grazing nothing odd going on with her she hadnt even separated from the flock. I went down maybe an hour and a half later and was very surprised to see Caramello had just given birth to this little girl lol

08.01.2022 Its Friday arvo and all the kids in the neighborhood want to come round for a play

08.01.2022 I have always had a fascination with Black Cockatoos.... I think they are just so beautiful. But there is a story behind my fascination.... When I was a teenager I had a camera that I used to use all of the time and I would take photos of everything I could. One day managed to snap a photo of about eight Red Tailed Black Cockies sitting low in a tree together. But when I got the film developed, I had unfortunately managed to double expose the film and my photo was ruined ....... Ever since then I have always tried to get photos of Black Cockatoos and have not been overly what I would call successful. Getting a photo of them here is hard because they do not tend to hang around this area so when they do arrive, they are very unpredictable. They are always just passing through so only land for short periods. Everytime I have tried to get a photo of them since I was a teenage something goes wrong like the lighting is wrong or they are too far away, not in focus, no memory card in the camera, dog barks or they fly off just as I get close enough. Always something goes wrong This morning I was woken by the sounds of Black Cockatoos in the backyard, I couldnt believe it. I grab the camera and race outside, still half asleep and try to take a photo of one of them perched in the tree just off the verandah, the stunning morning light is illuminating it, so pretty, the perfect shot, I press the shutter and the camera doesnt work , then the camera goes out of focus and for some reason and I couldnt get it to come back into focus. I check my settings and then realise I dont have my memory card in the camera again! A minute later the Cockatoo I was trying to get the photo of takes off. I thought I had missed out again, you wouldnt read about this happening again, just my luck lol.... A couple of hours later I am making lunches for school and I hear the Cockies again and I grab the camera (card in this time) but I hadnt realised that the card is full , so I am racing to where I can hear the Cockatoos, before they fly away, deleting photos as I go lol.... I get there and I cant get close to them and they are too far away to get a clear shot. I wait and wait for the two I could see to move, and they dont. Next thing, from no where, one comes from behind me and lands in a tree just next to where I was standing. Then another three join that one in the same tree. But they are in the tree, right in the middle in amongst all the branches. I wait, eventually they make their way to the top of the tree and fly off. But not before I managed to capture several photos that I am so happy with, finally my years of bad luck trying to get photos of these awesome birds is over! After years and years of being unsuccessful, my determination finally paid off - Hooray!.... So it is only natural I had to share with you one of the piccies I managed to capture this morning I hope you enjoy

07.01.2022 This is our gorgeous little kid that was born a few weeks ago he is doing great. So Cute!! It is only a matter of days before we see a few more of these little cuties on the ground with it being 5 months since the our Billy Bart made himself known to the girls.

07.01.2022 Had a chance this arvo to head out and snap a couple of piccies... This gorgeous ewe lamb has such a beautiful face, even if she does have a mouthful of food lol

07.01.2022 Buddy looks like he is pretty excited the weekend is here

06.01.2022 Update Who Remembers Pippi Long Stockings? Check out what she looks like now at 5mths old (last photo) ... Pippi Long Stockings is a Dorper 75% cross Damara 25%. Sired by Floyd (Tuckeroo 170023) No doubt about it, she is an absolutely stunning ewe lamb, who is going to turn into an absolutely stunning ewe like her mother

05.01.2022 Beautiful skies again tonight All of our fingers and toes are crossed that the rain predicted for the end of the week happens

05.01.2022 We are having mixed feelings at the moment... We are really excited that tomorrow (Friday) our story is going to be re-run in the Rural Weekly but also sad because it will be the final ever time the Rural Weekly will be shared in printed form and digital form. I was gobsmacked when about a week or two after our article was printed there was an announcement that News Corp were closing several of their publications around the country. Sadly it was announced the Rural Weekly w...ould be victim to these closures. Tomorrow we will not only be losing the Rural Weekly to the closures but our community will also be losing our local paper the South Burnett Times which will also cease printing going to a digital only format. So we would like to say one last time a huge Thank You to the Rural Weekly and Emily Bradfield for writing such an awesome article about our stud and the Dorper breed we are so grateful! Thank you for including us in this piece of history tomorrow and Thank you for all of the brilliant articles you have shared with us over the years. We will miss sitting down reading the paper Be sure to pick yourself up a copy!
