14.03.2022 Shearing: is it an Essential Service or Not ? The industry is rightly concerned about Shearing being classified as an ‘Essential Service’ should further ‘lockdown’ restrictions come into play. That said, the biggest enemy to the industry being able to continue to work is OURSELVES! Our individual actions will determine if we and others can work and in some cases, will determine who contracts the virus. ... Individual shearing teams are only going to be able to keep working if we all stay mindful of the importance to stay distanced during work and AFTER WORK, maintain over-the top-hygiene Think about the little things: don't share things - cigarettes, lighters, food utensils, towels Don't visit my mates on the way home. Facetime then instead The restrictions will end on 30 June. We need to tough it out The industry is relying on you. Your family and friends are relying on you. There is a lot of stake Please be COVID-19 awake!

22.01.2022 Another chance to inspect Hilton Barrett's Arrow Park Shearing Shed on Friday 20 Spetember. SCAA recently had the chance to inspect it and its certainly worth looking at, especially if you (or your wool growing customers) are thinking of renovating or building a shearing shed from scratch. This 'modular' formula allows this best practice shed to be retro fitted into older, smaller sheds or large high-volume operations. https://www.queenslandcountrylife.com.au//growers-get-an/

17.01.2022 Schools Based Traineeships for the Wool Harvesting Industry: More than 50 school kids from Grenfell, Dunedoo, Blaney & Dubbo High Schools attended the inaugural Wool Industry School based Traineeship Information session held at Dubbo TAFE. It was a great opportunity for the kids to come and find out about the process of doing a Wool Industry Traineeship, during years 11 and 12 and meet potential employers. Thanks to Melissa Wortman from NSW Agrifood ITAB, for organising a great event. Also to SCAA members and Committee for their time, AWI and TAFE. Thanks to Dayne West.
