24.01.2022 10 Facts Every Woman Should Know: 1. Everyone has rolls when they bend over. 2. When someone tells you that you're beautiful, believe them. They aren't lying. 3.... Sometimes we all wake up with breath that could kill a goat. 4. For every woman unhappy with her stretch marks is another woman who wishes she had them. 5. You should definitely have more confidence. And if you saw yourself the way others see you, you would. 6. Don't look for a man to save you. Be able to save yourself. 7. It's okay to not love every part of your body....but you should. 8. We all have that one friend who seems to have it all together. That woman with the seemingly perfect life. Well, you might be that woman to someone else. 9. You should be a priority. Not an option, a last resort, or a backup plan. 10. You're a woman. That alone makes you pretty damn remarkable. See more

11.01.2022 I think it was Brene Brown who told a story about a village where all the women washed clothes together down by the river. When they all got washing machines, t...here was a sudden outbreak of depression and no one could figure out why. It wasn't the washing machines in and of themselves. It was the absence of time spent doing things together. It was the absence of community. Friends, we’ve gotten so independent. We’re fine we tell ourselves even when in reality we’re depressed, we’re overwhelmed, we’re lonely, and we’re hurting. We’re fine, we’re just too busy right now we say when days, weeks, months, and years go by without connecting with friends. I’m fine, I’m fine, I’m fine. It’s so easy to say even when it’s not true. We’ve become so isolated and it’s hard to know how to get back. It’s so hard to know how to even begin to build the kind of relationships our hearts need. And I think In our current culture, it’s just not as organic as it once was. It's more work now. Because you know, we have our own washing machines. We don't depend on each other to do laundry, or cook dinner, or raise babies anymore. We don't really depend on each other for much of anything if we're being honest. In Brene Brown’s book Braving the Wilderness, she says that being lonely effects the length of our life expectancy similar to smoking 15 cigarettes a day. I don’t say that to freak anyone out, but to let you know that the longing for connection is LEGIT. I think we’ve treated friendship like a luxury for far too long; friendship isn’t a luxury, it’s a necessity. We don't want it. We kind of need it. Be independent. Be proud of it. But be an independent woman who realizes the value and the importance of opening the door to other good women. You can do it alone, but you don't have to. Islands are only fun for so long. There is true magic when women come together and hold hands and share ideas and share stories and struggles and endless bowls of salsa. You use your gifts, and I'll use mine, and then we'll invite that girl over there who brings a completely different set of skills to the table we are building, and we'll watch together as something miraculous unfold. 09.01.2022 Join us for our 2nd Wellness Walk in the beautiful Cumberland State Forest. We will meet in the car park of Cafe Saligna at 9:30 and return there for coffee and a chat if you have time afterwards. In addition, we are also organising a collection of toiletries and small gifts for Ladies of the Land. These will be sorted and wrapped up in a shoe box with a ribbon and taken to a drop off centre in Orange to be distributed to our fellow women who are doing it tough out there.... We hope this will bring a bit of joy to them at Christmas. If you have any items you would like to donate bring along on the day of the walk and we’ll get them out on your behalf x

04.01.2022 Fear and anxiety are normal emotions that help alert and protect us from danger. This is healthy! What is not healthy is when these feelings become excessive, irrational and interfere with daily life. What is anxiety? Anxiety is an unpleasant feeling of nervousness, apprehension, distress and fear that something bad is happening or about to happen.... Types of anxiety:- Generalised anxiety disorder GAD involves excessive, irrational and persistent worry over common issues (eg family, work, finances or illness) This worry is out of proportion to the circumstances causing it. Panic disorder A panic disorder occurs when the body's normal anxiety response to feared situations is not working properly. Signs include increased heart rate, rapid breathing and sudden intense feeling of terror. Phobias A phobia develops when a specific fear becomes excessive. Phobias can develop from more common fears of spiders, airplanes, visits to the dentist, and social phobia. Post-traumatic stress disorder PTSD can occur following a traumatic event. These events can result in nightmares, flashbacks or constant distressing thoughts relating to the trauma. Obsessive compulsive disorder OCD occurs when a person cannot stop their obsessive thoughts followed by their compulsive behaviours. For example cleaning something over and over again. Management & treatment Medications similar to those used to treat depression may be recommended as a shortterm solution, however studies have shown psychological therapies are more effective in the longterm. Relaxation deep, slow breathing yoga, tai chi or meditation listening to relaxing music having a massage or a relaxing bath Healthy lifestyle eat a healthy diet including fresh fruit and vegetables, wholegrain foods * increase calcium a critical chemical involved in the release of neurotransmitters aim for 30 minutes of moderate physical activity to stimulate endorphins (feel good hormones) reduce your consumption of alcohol, caffeine and other stimulants If fear and anxiety are interfering with your ability to function and enjoy day-to-day life, it is time to do something about it.
