24.01.2022 DON’T CALL IT A COMEBACK! Well.... maybe. Are you thinking of making a comeback to the gym? Maybe going back to an older program, hitting a few Open Gym sessions, or coming in to class after a break? CONGRATULATIONS!! ... Making the decision to show up for yourself is so powerful! Prioritising yourself, your mind, your body, and your time is an incredible achievement, and we love to see it! Here are a few things to keep in mind on your way back: PACING Just a reminder that when you come back, you will have lost at least a teeny bit of your regular gains and strength. Fortunately, muscle memory will help you get back there pretty quickly, but it’s important to honour where your body is at today. Instead of hitting your previous max, start a little slower, have a longer warm-up, and give yourself plenty of time to stretch after. CONSISTENCY IS KING & QUEEN The most important key to achieving your goals is rinse and repeat - do it, do it again, and then do it some more. Set out the days and times you will be working out, and show up for it! It’s tempting to go in and go hard, but intensity comes with time. Start by building your foundations, and build the weight and intensity as you go CHECK IN Not sure where to start? We have so many options! 15.01.2022 WHAT A NEW YEARS RESET SHOULD LOOK LIKE *hint: it’s not this * The diet machine pumps out the narrative that to reset your diet or cleanse at the start of your year, it’s all about restriction, ignoring your body, and eating as little as possible ... NOT TRUE! Here’s what an actual reset should look like: Set realistic goals for your body: As much as you may want to, you will never look like Gal Gadot or Chris Hemsworth. Why? Because that’s THEIR body, not yours! It’s great to have some #inspo, but that ain’t you! Set goals focused on YOUR body, and strive to improve incrementally and consistently LISTEN to your body: You know what makes you feel good. You know what makes you feel slow, sluggish, sick, bloated, tired, heavy. The food that make your feel great probably isn’t burgers, fries, pizza and beers every day. Some fast final tips to help settle your body after a break: Reduce refined sugars, greasy stuff, boozy stuff Add 2 handfuls of green stuff to 1-2 meals a day Try legumes (lentils, black beans, chickpeas) in 2-3 meals this week - Great fibre, heart healthy, helps with fat intake, gets your body moving Drink more water - Add 1 extra bottle of water to your day Focus on sleep - Set your 7-9 hours and get it in Walk every day Be nice to yourself - Your body hears what your mind says.
