24.01.2022 Earlier this year, Boko Haram attacked Kaltoumi's village, killing her husband and kidnapping her nine year old son. With ten children in her care, she fled her home in search of safety. Through our partners IEDA Relief we equipped Kaltoumi with two shelter kits, solar lamps, kitchen sets, ground mats, blankets and water filters. Now she is using these tools to begin building a new life for her family ... Despite everything, Kaltoumi is excited to start her own business, selling food she grows in order to pay for some of her children to go to school. We really admire Kaltoumi's resilience and positivity. What message of support would you want her to hear? See more

24.01.2022 Nelcie's life was turned upside down when a typhoon destroyed her home in the Philippines earlier this year. She has three children and was pregnant with her fourth at the time. When talking about her experience, Nelcie told us: 'I was terrified...there was no roof, no more walls, no more kitchen, along with our things'. With your support, our team was able to reach Nelcie and provide her family with essential shelter aid including tarpaulins and rope, as we...ll as essential household items. These items enabled the family to rebuild their home, and provided them with a private space where they could rest, recover and stay safe from the threat of coronavirus. Every day your support helps to shelter families around the world like Nelcie's. From all of us at ShelterBox thank you See more

23.01.2022 Here’s this week’s Operations Update Watch to hear the latest on Hurricane Eta, including its movements, impact and how we're monitoring the situation.

23.01.2022 After flash flooding in Tanzania this year, many families lost their homes and were forced to share tents. They lost access to things we might take for granted, such as the ability to switch on the lights and enjoy our hobbies, work, and family time, even as the nights draw in Through our partners in the Tanzanian Red Cross, we have supplied 667 families with solar lights and shelter kits. We provided remote training for volunteers who are now sharing their new skills with ...the wider community, empowering them to rebuild. We're happy to have already heard reports of families enjoying the solar lights What little luxury are you grateful for today? Share with us in the comments

19.01.2022 Can you imagine living in this tent through winter? As temperatures in Syria drop, thousands of displaced families are facing a harsh winter without proper shelter. Since the conflict began nearly 10 years ago, more than half of Syria’s population has been forced to flee - often to overcrowded areas with damaged tents that offer little protection from environmental extremes. Our team is working hard with our partners ReliefAid to distribute clothes and shel...ter, providing families with a warm, safe place to call home. You can help us give shelter this upcoming Human Rights Day by supporting our inaugural giving day. 18.01.2022 Last week we told you a story about Bulutna from Ethiopia, and many of you commented showing your support for her family. Today, we're focusing on a worry many of us share with her: coronavirus. The pandemic has impacted all of us differently. Bulutna was aware of a dangerous virus, but said "I didn’t know about the way it spread and how to prevent it." With our partner IOM Ethiopia we were recently able to provide soap and access to a health official for families li...ke Bulutna's. She said: "Using the soaps I have received [...] we have now started to wash our hands continuously, and also keep our social distance from the community." The small acts we take to help one another - such as sharing useful info, washing our hands and social distancing - can really make a world of difference. The people we support around the world do incredible things every day. Let's take a leaf out of their book See more

09.01.2022 Cyclone Amphan was the strongest tropical cyclone to strike the River Ganges Delta since 1999. It tore through coastal regions of north-east India and neighbouring Bangladesh earlier this year. In India alone, 1.7 million homes were destroyed. We are working with our trusted partner Habitat for Humanity India to distribute essential aid items to 1,400 families in the Sundarbans, one of the areas worst hit by Amphan. We have adapted the aid items for this response to include basic hygiene kits to help prevent the spread of coronavirus, in addition to our emergency shelter and essential aid items that will allow families to begin the slow process to recovery

09.01.2022 Today, we're looking back two years at the destructive earthquake and tsunami which devastated the Indonesian island of Sulawesi. We provided vital items like water purification kits, tents and mosquito nets to families who had been forced to flee their homes with nothing. These families came together and showed tremendous strength in rebuilding after disaster. 07.01.2022 When conflict destroyed their home, 65 year-old Bulutna and her family fled to poorly-built temporary housing, leaving their income and possessions behind. Like many other displaced families in Ethiopia, they lived in damp and unpleasant conditions. In August, Bulutna collected ShelterBox aid, including plastic sheets, solar lights, blankets, and other essential household items Now, having made repairs to her home, Bulutna says her family is safer and healthier especiall...y her husband Balli, 78, who has struggled with his health since before they were displaced. We really admire the innovation and strength Bulutna and her family have shown in rebuilding their home and livelihood after disaster Thank you for helping us reach disaster and conflict-affected communities like Bulutna’s around the world.

07.01.2022 When Typhoon Vongfong brought devastation to the Philippines earlier this year, Alejandro and his family braved chest-level water and winds so strong that they blew the roof from his house. Eventually, they were able to take refuge - but once they returned home, they found their home destroyed. With support from ShelterBox and our partner, Terres des Hommes, they were able to build a new home. Describing the moment he collected the aid items, Alejandro said ..."I had a good and nice feeling...I was really grateful." Alejandro says that a home is "a necessity for a family...a house makes a home, where we can be ourselves." We couldn't agree more. What does home mean to you? See more

We’re also sending warm clothes, including coats and romper suits, to shield children and vulnerable adults from the elements.
