23.01.2022 So we are 2 weeks into stage 3 and 1 week into the dryland program and the interactive google spread sheet that Stuart implemented for the club to keep fit ... it updates straight away for everyone Congratulations to those swimmers that have bought into it and are keeping themselves accountable by completing the spreadsheets for us.. it’s Great to see some of the juniors getting into it .. but a majority of the senior squad hasn’t as yet. Well done to Joss and Flynn who are... smashing out their triathalon training and Stuart Shaw for still swimming in the lakes!! BRRRR! An example of what the spreadsheet for week 1 shows is below The program isn’t hard, it gives you plenty of leeway for those that aren’t comfortable running with run/walk etc. we have a 60 min run or 30 min run/walk (which Skye and I did as a walk 1 power pole run 2 power poles to get started) 30-60 min bike ride (we took the dog) 30 min strength program (as written each week) Swimnastics 1 hour Misc -your own exercise whatever that may be ... Skye has downloaded some 10 min YouTube core/arms videos I expect next week to see alot more names on the spreadsheet, check your email for the link or msg me
22.01.2022 Please note the below information..Due to pool temps being still too low based on recommendations provided by both ASCTA and Swimming Australia and the outside temp dropping, we have decided to cancel this weeks training sessions .. ideally the pool temp would be a minimum of 23 degs, it currently is just at 21 degs I know everyone wants to get back in as soon as possible, so let’s be prepared with rashies/double capping and maybe wetsuits if you have them .. Fingers crossed ...for next week! Aquamoves has public sessions available online for those who still want to dip their toes in the water Hi All We are cancelling this week’s swim club sessions. The pool temperature today is still just 21 and given that the feels like temperatures will be 8 to 9 degrees C for the week (sees attached) we feel this will be too cold for coached sessions. We’d like to thank Aquamoves for having the pool open and trying to get the temperatures up. We hope to try again for coached sessions next week. If you would still like to swim, Aquamoves are offering public sessions at the following times: Tuesday 5.15pm to 6.15pm Wednesday 5.15pm to 6.15pm Thursday 5.15pm to 6.15pm Saturday session to be announced soon and you can find out more and book here: http://aquamoves.com.au/our-outdoor-pool-season-is-here Sorry for the turnaround, we had everything crossed for a bit more warmth. Hopefully we’ll have better news for next week. Best Wishes Helen
20.01.2022 Take it from Daveyou need to reach full extension on every stroke of breaststroke, no matter how fast you’re going. https://gosw.im/3iLIex9 #goswim #breaststroke
18.01.2022 In real estate, it’s all about location, location, location. In breaststroke, it’s line, line, line. Your kick and pull can be wide or narrow. Your rate can ...be fast or slow. Your style can be wave or old-fashion flat. What matters is that you get back to a clean, horizontal, and streamlined LINE after every stroke. This week’s videos will show you what a good line looks likeand how to achieve it. Let’s do it! http://gosw.im/2bwrDgV #goswim #breaststroke See more

13.01.2022 Time for an update, I hope everyone has been getting into the dryland program and doing their best to do some form of activity each day/week. I have been keeping an eye on the spreadsheet to see who is filling it in, and it’s great to see a few more names on the list., it will make it much easier when we finally get to hit the water. We are in talks with Aquamoves regarding access to the outdoor pool and there are alot of ifs, buts and maybes with regards pool temp, Aquamov...es protocols and covid guidelines. But pls note we are looking at this coming school holidays as a possible option 21 sept to 4 oct again subject still to a lot of discussion But to allow some forward planning this is what we are considering Mon snrs 12-2 Tues jnrs 1-2 snrs 2-3 Dryland snrs 1-2 jnrs 2-3 Wed snrs 4-6 Thurs jnrs 12-1 snrs 1-2 Sat morning session maybe Again this is just for discussion for school holidays .. but it may pay to start thinking about your availability for these sessions in case we need to move quickly. Sessions at this stage will still be limited to 20 we assume

09.01.2022 Remember your inhalers if your training this afternoon as there may be smoke from the burn off around
08.01.2022 To anyone who doesn’t think we’ve been doing anything, the truth is we’ve been flat out trying to get pools open and influence government with recommended detai...ls of reopening. Lots of industries have met with Government and provided industry plans etc and Government has not followed their advice. We are not the only industry this is happening to. We are currently a respected voice at the table and a public campaign is our last resort if Government does not act within the next few days. Following our last town hall, the industry and government have broadly agreed on the following: Pools can open to a maximum of one patron per eight (8) square metre, or 40 patrons per pool (whichever is fewer), calculated against the pool surface area. Under 18’s to be excluded from the maximum capacity ratio. Only active swimming participants and guardians of participants under the age of 18 are able to access the pool environment (excluding staff). Changing room facilities, spa pools, steam rooms and saunas to remain closed. For clarity, the above would allow most swim schools to reopen for all U18s without in water density quotients. Further, we are pushing hard for indoor pools to open under the above condition at Step Three. We have been involved with and/or coordinating multiple initiative to achieve this including (but by no means limited to): Meeting with a Federal senator; Letters to multiple ministers including the Minister for Sport; Discussions with the CEO of Sport and Recreation Victoria and his staff; Meetings with members of the opposition; Requests to multiple media for comment and coverage (all unsuccessful) I encourage everyone to try and get media coverage. If you are able to achieve this, key talking points that you could use include: 1. Pools are safe, get them open as soon as possible indoor and outdoor. 2. Learn to swim provides essential skills for like get kids back in the water 3. Squad swimming Kids have dreams to get to the Olympics and swimming is our most successful Olympic sport let them swim before we loose them we need squads back Supplementary information: 1. It’s a week by week proposition for swim school owners, they’ve had 100% reduction in income since March with exorbitant costs. We must support these local businesses who support our kids safety and development; 2. Drownings in VIC have gone up 300% in the past three months over the 5 year average; 3. Research supports indoor pools as being safer than outdoor pools regarding COVID-19; 4. Research shows that kids (u18) do not require social distancing exempt them from any density quotient (see attached); 5. LTS and squad swimming are highly managed and ready to open. I am very happy to provide extensive details on any of the above points including the research which will also be available on ASCTA Connects within the hour.
07.01.2022 Updates SV calendar.
07.01.2022 Regarding tomorrow nights Xmas party, the committee has now advised parents are able to attend ... cost for food (pizza and Cornettos) will be $5 per person. 06.01.2022 Hi All Unfortunately, we are cancelling tomorrow’s session (Thursday) too. The pool temperature today is 20.7 which is again too cold for coached sessions. Yesterday afternoon it got up to 20.8 after a mid morning 20.5 which means it held its temperature well overnight and hopefully a warm weekend will get us a few extra degrees for Monday.... So upcoming swim sessions (subject to temperatures) are now: School Term (October): Monday: 4:00 5:15 Seniors only Tuesday: 4:00 5:15 Juniors & Seniors Wednesday: 4:00 5:15 Seniors only Thursday: 4:00 5:15 Juniors & Seniors We will have the whole pool so there will be no training lists. Costs: Aquamoves have sent out emails to all members explaining how you can reactivate your membership, so you can reactivate your membership or you can pay entrance through us which will be $4.50 for under 16 and $6.50 for 16 & above. Coaching fees for the school term are also now confirmed as $5 per session. You will be invoiced periodically for sessions attended. If you would still like to swim this week of the holidays Aquamoves are still offering public sessions at the following times: Wednesday 5.15pm to 6.15pm Thursday 5.15pm to 6.15pm Saturday 10.45am to 11.45am You can find out more and book here: http://aquamoves.com.au/our-outdoor-pool-season-is-here Best Wishes Helen

01.01.2022 To achieve a good line in breaststroke, you need to develop flexibility in your shoulders and torso. Today’s video shows a quick dolphin-kick progression/warm...up that gets swimmers ready for either butterfly or breaststroke. It’s filmed in an Endless Pool, but can work in any pool. https://gosw.im/2Fw731V #goswim #breaststroke See more
01.01.2022 Well done to those of our swimmers completing the spreadsheet for the past few weeks, great to see
