25.01.2022 Have just finished my first felt order and was pleased with the result. The felt was made from a cria fleece of a bay black animal so it has both black and brown through it. Hopefully my client will like it as well.
25.01.2022 My latest handspun and hand dyed alpaca yarn. Not yet sure what I will do with it but I deliberately spun it with texture to see what it looked like. Very happy with the result.
18.01.2022 I have finally sorted some of my early spinning projects into hanks ready to use. I was very happy with some of these results. Now to work out how to use them.
18.01.2022 First attempt at crocheting an item using my own handspun black alpaca as part of the monkey.
17.01.2022 Here are a few of my handspun skeins of alpaca yarn from animals we own. The black and yellow skein has some hand dyed alpaca yarn
12.01.2022 Looking forward to our Farm Open Days next weekend. Visiting hours are Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th May between 10.00am and 4.00pm. On display will be alpacas, some with young crias, alpaca fleeces and products made using alpaca. We will also have a come and try activity making a small felted item and products will be for sale as well. We are very happy to talk to people about alpacas and alpaca husbandry.
12.01.2022 Roses - a nutritional addition to the diet now that the grass is drying out fast!
11.01.2022 We joined John and Jo at Creswick Woollen Mills on Sunday for the Cutest Cria Competition. We took 3 of our young females along to join the other animals on display. There was plenty of time for a bit of spinning and a chat with members of the public. Creswick Woollen Mills have just put up a new animal display area which is under shelter and has quite a few pens, so we gave it a test run.
10.01.2022 Earlier in the year I completed a beginners weaving class. We had to make a practice piece and a project piece as part of the course. I really liked the many different effects that can be made using various colours and patterns, which was my first piece. The other piece, a scarf, takes inspiration from a sunrise photo I took. Following on from this course I have been inspired to renovate a 4 shaft loom I bought last year. It is 3/4 completed and now waiting on parts to be finished.
05.01.2022 Sherwinview Hayden and Sherwinview Hywel moved to their new home yesterday. We hope their new owners get as much enjoyment from them as we do as owners and breeders of our alpacas.
