From all of us at Shift, we just want to say a massive thank you for all the continuous support and love you show us always, but especially this year! You’ve supported us as a takeaway cafe, a cafe on wheels and now as a socially distanced cafe.... All of this wouldn’t have been possible without the staff of Shift Your hardwork, determination to make it through and great spirit have been the difference for us making it through 2020. To allow us to recover and take a much needed rest we will be closing for just over 2 weeks. Our last day will be WEDNESDAY 23rd of DECEMBER and our first day back will be TUESDAY 12th JAN 2021

17.01.2022 HOW ARE YOU? Hello everyone! Serious post warning I just wanted to touch base with whoever is reading this and see how you are going?... Weve been a little quite on socials as we are taking some recovery time Its a complex time and there are lots of complex feelings but I feel that as the pandemic stretches on that this is the most important time to be honest and open about how its making us feel. Firstly, its important to remember were all in the same boat with tackling this pandemic so please dont think its just you. Secondly, nothing good comes from bottling it up inside. Sure, keep some emotions to yourself but get the difficult ones out. Find someone who is willing to listen and try to open up about how this is affecting you. Be compassionate and remember that we are all trying our best. If you dont feel comfortable opening up to close ones then there are some great hotlines Eg. Lifeline 13 11 14. Especially think of those that have lost their jobs/livelihoods, people travelling from overseas and cant go home, people with family abroad that they cant visit and anyone suffering from depression, anxiety or the like. Your pain and feelings are valid and unique to you so dont suppress them with thinking they arent as important as anothers. They say "put the mask on yourself first" on planes for a reason. . The reality is that no one has the answer to what is going to happen next, however we should take some solace in knowing that we are in this together. We have each other and its important to connect in anyway that you can. If you are doing it tough and need some support or know of someone that does, be it food or someone to talk to, please reach out in the dms and we will try our best to help in whatever way we can Also, how beautiful and amazing is this team, yes missing a couple but we didnt all get to work on one of the funnest day of the year..Mardi Gras

Tomorrow we start the easing of further restricitons for COVID-19. See below what we will be doing moving forward: - The biggest change for us at Shift is the ability to have more outdoor seating - We now have a great swap n go system setup utilising @greencaffeen cups so download the app and save those takeaway cups. - A...part from that, this round doesnt effect Shift too much. Its been a journey with many innovations along the way but we are finally ready to embrace you with air hugs! Please help us maintain a safe space and continue the amazing work Australians have done in reducing the spread by continuing to abide by the rules and recommendations mentioned here and from the authorities.. SHIFTY UPDATES...for now: (these arent so innovative but ne...cessary. Plus we have some exciting announcements coming soon!) 1. Limited seating available from tomorrow inside the cafe as well as some outdoor seating 2. Our hours will be reverting back to the normal 8am - 3pm from SATURDAY!! 3. Takeaway window still operating to limit the amount of people inside the cafe, if we are at capacity or incase you want to work on your winter tan. We will now be using the barista window on the side of the cafe You will also be able to order takeaway from inside the cafe if you prefer (subject to numbers). 4. Counter service only - to assist with keeping a safe distance we will be staying behind the counter as much as possible so please help us by collecting your food and coffee or we can throw it through the window if you wait outside 5. 15.01.2022 Who has tried the newest addition to our menu? Meetballs from @_themeetco in our mouth watering marinara sauce with parmesan on a @thebreadandbutterproject hoagie roll! Fun fact: upon request from us for a white roll, @thebreadandbutterproject made their hoagie roll vegan! It used to have cows milk in it but they have reformulated it which means all the eateries that used to get a non vegan roll now get a vegan roll!

14.01.2022 WHY RECYCLE WHEN YOU CAN REUSE? As a vegan cafe we go through quite a few milk cartons and unfortunately there is still no bulk packaging for plant based mylks (yet) lets keep pushing companies to provide some! We are now using our milk cartons as takeaway containers so we can give them a second life before being recycled.... Were hoping this can encourage more and more people & businesses to reuse and recycle as much as they can The best part of these cartons is that they are waterproof which is not only great for food but it also means they clean up perfectly! We will also purchase less takeaway packaging which has a great ripple effect on the resources used to produce and distribute takeaway packaging. We hope this brings up the topic of recycling, reusing and improper waste disposal again as it has a serious impact on the environment and sea life so lets all be as conscious as possible with the decisions we make and the goods we consume
