20.01.2022 SUCCESSFUL FUNDRAISER AT SHIP INN MOTEL On Saturday night, many locals and visitors from as far as Melbourne enjoyed a great meal and wonderful entertainment at the Ship Inn Motel to raise funds for the Yarram CFA and SES. The night, organised by the Motel leaseholders, Paul and Jody, was a great success with over $500 being raised. ... The evening had a strong racing theme, with the room being decorated with memorabilia and photos from Stony Creek Racing Club, and featured guest speaker Peter Hutchison, winning jockey of the 1993 Caulfield Cup. Peter spoke of his early years in racing, particularly his time with the strong Hayes family racing stable, and his return to race riding after several nasty falls. Former AFL player and actor Mark Jacko Jackson also amused the crowd with stories of his acting career, but focussed on his football experiences which saw him play at 4 different Clubs over the journey. His self-deprecating humour was enjoyed by all, and his stories gave tremendous insights into the workings behind the football clubs in the 1990s. He made clear his affection for Tom Hafey, and lack of enthusiasm for previous coaches who had tried to end his career! 05.01.2022 Elvis...(I mean) Heesco Khosnaran has left the building. Heesco left the Ship Inn Motel in Yarram today after 6 weeks painting in and around Yarram. With his wi...fe and 2 young children stuck in Sweden (Covid 19), the Heesco Town project has been a welcome creative project for this awsome artist...enabling him to give his all to our lovely town. From what Ive seen and heard, locals have welcomed what Heesco has brought to the town, so he has agreed to return very soon to add a little more colour and light.
