07.01.2022 We're now undertaking the final piece of community consultation to unpack the future use of the Town Hall With the help of members from the community in attendance at the Town Hall Workshops in July 2020, the shared consensus was a multipurpose space incorporating tourism, historical, and community event uses The options co-designed by the community include:... Undertaking community based historical projects to capture and display the Town’s diverse history on the wall spaces and potentially the stage area utilising photos, physical displays and audio-visual displays. Regularly rotating the displays to provide variety and ongoing dialogue for residents, visitors and tourists. Initial display suggestions include the Higgins War Photos, selected historical records, aboriginal culture/history and an agricultural display. A flexible space in the central hall, focused on rotations of art and craft, workshops, additional historical displays, community pop up markets and stalls, and tourism or community events. Incorporating a Tourism / Visitors Centre at the front of the Hall in a converted kitchen Next steps This direction was endorsed by Council at its September meeting, subject to a final opportunity for the community to submit feedback. Any further comments on the outcomes of the community workshops are welcome, with submissions closing on 7 October 2020 Looking for more information The Town Hall Workshop Report is available to download from the Shire's website https://www.pingelly.wa.gov.au//community-comment-tow/1309 or you're welcome to contact the Shire Office 9887 1066 [email protected]
