25.01.2022 Latest generation Africa Twin in recently.. There has been much criticism of late regarding the quality of the fork tube anodizing on the big adventurer. Honda have responded by equipping the new bikes with Kashima coated tubes in the hope of solving the issue..or at least satisfying the consumer. Unfortunately the worn anodizing was always a symptom of another underlying problem. On this bike you can witness the beginnings of the same wear pattern, although it will take mu...ch longer to rear its head due to the more durable coating. The bush land design on the chrome tube has always been the problem and continues to be so. Ride the bike on a rougher road and the binding in the tubes is immediately evident. A little machining will cure this. On most dirt bikes with USD forks, the tubes will bend with every impact at the lower triple clamp. This means that the chrome tube is forced to negotiate a bend as it passes through the triple clamp region. On modern motocross bikes the bush land is tapered. This allows the bush to flex as it meets the bend, thereby presenting a dramatically reduced restriction. We have been machining the tubes on every Africa Twin for several years now. Even with the newer versions with Kashima coating the benefit is very apparent with improved bump response which leads to a more comfortable ride with better grip.not to mention greater durability. If you have one of these bikes, this is a relatively cheap mod that yields big gains. See more

23.01.2022 A Husky with the lot please!!! When a brand new 701 Husky just isn’t enough, you can always add a bit of fruit A new Scotts steering damper along with anti-vibration mount not only reduces Rider fatigue but also ensures greater rider confidence and safety. We’ve all been caught out with unseen objects that bring you unstuck. A rock in the grass, hidden tree roots etc. The damper assist with unwanted wheel deflections and general stability of the bike adding to rider confid...ence. Dal Soggio cartridges now grace the forks for ideal damping control, tuned to the rider’s requirements along with the correct springs front and rear. The shock has been re-valved with a bladder added for better wheel response. All we need now is a helmet, boots and a backpack full of mars bars! 20.01.2022 Strange days Suzuki have always made a great bike but the yellow beasts just don't seem to strike a chord with the motocross crowd. It seems like there a only a handful of RMZs in the country right now.......and we have 3 of them.

20.01.2022 I love my new workshop.. Time for a little decorating. A new Matris sign coupled with a banner from the 2019 Phillip Island MotoGP make the perfect addition. The Matris sign was skillfully crafted by Excite Signs and Graphics in Penrith. Excite Signs Matris srl The GP banner depicting Jack Miller and Marc Marquez, was given to me by a mate of mine. Pete Darroch. After the 2019 Australia GP was done and dusted, Pete asked if he could have a banner from the hospitality tent at MG corner. Not only did he get the artwork but he managed to catch up with Jack Miller and get it signed as well. We were all at Phillip Island to witness Jack’s exciting 3rd place and now, thanks to Pete, we have an epic momento of the occasion. Peter Darroch

15.01.2022 When good forks go bad. The latest KYB forks are amazing but even the best fork can have a bad day. Whoever worked on these forks last hadn’t properly secured the base adjuster to the damper rod. The bike was purchased second hand so there is no service record. The damper rod came loose in one of the legs and then proceeded to bash itself to death upon the base adjuster, taking out the bottom out cone in the process. As a KYB importer we keep the base unit and replacement rod in stock but the bottom out cone is not available as a separate item. I have always enjoyed a challenge and even though we have no time for this right now it was a welcome event. Gets the juices flowing

12.01.2022 It might be a little while before we can get to Tassie but this is a great museum to stop at.

12.01.2022 As a Honda SP2 collector, people often ask me "What makes it so special"? The SP2 was Honda's counter to the unfair displacement advantage that Ducati had enjoyed for many years and a chance to snub its nose at the race the race organisers. By winning the World Superbike Championship (Colin Edwards) and AMA Championship (Nicky Hayden) the point was well and truly proven. Here is a recollection of the last round at Imola 2002 with Colin Edwards as guest speaker. Enjoy....... https://www.worldsbk.com//2020%20WorldSBK%20COLIN%20EDWARD

12.01.2022 It gives us great pleasure to say this...#MotoGP IS BACK! Wherever you're watching in the world, however you've been affected by the global pandemic, we race ...for all of you... Enjoy! #SpanishGP

11.01.2022 Twist it!!!! We see a lot of Ducatis through the workshop and I never fail to be disappointed with their god awful electronic (fly by wire) throttle. The excessive play really hampers the power delivery, which in turn makes the ride quite jerky. We have fitted a couple of these kits recently and the transformation is remarkable. Google Ducati throttle spacers for more info......Not something we sell but they are available on the web from a number of locations. Just be careful, they can vary quite a bit on price.

07.01.2022 We caught up with Josh Brookes a couple weeks ago at the end of his isolation in Australia. Since then Josh has returned to the UK to prepare for Bennetts Briti...sh Superbike Championship, which will resume in a few weeks time! Check out the interview below to see what Josh got up to in ISO, who his biggest rival is, and what it's like to race Isle of Man TT! 02.01.2022 I thought this question required its own topic..... Mikey Shaw Hi Terry, can you please explain your comment regarding spring "free sag" for differing grip levels? I understand spring return is required, especially mid corner should there be road imperfections, are you referring to "squat / anti squat" in the spring? As I thought it was the hydraulics that controlled this. And when would you increase / decrease spring tension for an increase / decrease in required grip level...s. Thankyou....... It is not the "Free Sag" but the static sag that will indicate how much tension is on the spring relative to bike / rider weight. The tension will provide a balance between both the compression of the spring and the extension. If we wish to get technical.....the rate or "frequency" of oscillation. The rider sag determines the overall "Ride Height" of the motorcycle which in itself becomes the zero line for the spring movement. Without damping the spring will continue to oscillate above and below this line when movement is initiated by a bump, chain torque reaction. G forces etc. The damping has the task of controlling the movement of the spring and assit in restoring the motorcycle to the ""zero line" or "Rider Sag. This is where the force lines of the motorcycle will be optimised for conditions. We will adjust sag to suit grip levels. In high grip situations a rider will feel more confident to get on the throttle earlier and harder in the corners. This will result in greater load transfer to the rear wheel which in turn takes weight off the front. This event will reduce grip levels at the front wheel and hamper steering on corner exit......the bike runs wide. By increasing rear spring tension we will reduce "Rear Squat" maintaining weight on the front for improved cornering. In low grip situations it may be necessary to reduce rear spring tension in order to gain "load transfer" for added drive grip. It's about finding the best balance for the conditions on the day. If you have the wrong spring, the frequency of oscillation will not be compatible with the optimum reaction / response to movement within the motorcycle suspension components ........Hope this helps. Terry
