In addition to the Covid-safe strategies that we have implemented in our store, all of our staff are now wearing face masks while fitting shoes in-store. Just an extra measure were taking to keep you Covid-safe!

17.01.2022 Did you know that a quarter of the bones in your body, are actually in your feet? Plus, theres an extended network of muscles, tendons, ligaments and joints that make your feet function. That makes for plenty of places where things can go wrong - simply with time (ok, age!) or due to injury. Just like youd see a dentist for anything related to your teeth, you can see a podiatrist for anything related to your feet or lower limbs. By everything, we mean everything. Pete is rounding off his big week with a late night check of some MRI results, confirming a suspected tibial stress fracture. He had lots to say about the increased number of injuries in kids post Covid-19, so stay tuned for his blog on how to minimise injury in young athletes returning to sport.

05.01.2022 What does the stack height, heel pitch or the drop of a shoe refer to? These terms all mean the same thing and refer to the difference in height from the back (heel) to the front (toe box) of the shoe. So can you tell the drop of a shoe by just looking at it? Not usually. The construction of some shoes can be deceiving! A standard stack height/heel pitch/drop is about 10-12mm for most sneakers.... So, why is this figure important? Some people have stiff ankles or tight Achilles that work more efficiently with a higher heeled running shoe. Other people do better with lower drops. Many foot problems including Achilles tendon and calf issues, bursitis and neuromas can be made worse by incorrect footwear selection. Our Podiatrists Dan and Pete can diagnose and treat all foot, ankle and calf issues. They can also help you with your footwear selection.
