22.01.2022 Melbourne! Sharky needs your help. He is in desperate need of a foster home. Sharky is currently with his trainer, but in his excitement at feeding time, he j...umps too high and is knocking himself around on the walls and roof of his kennel. He is in danger of seriously injuring himself. We are seeking a foster carer starting as soon as this weekend, in a home equipped to deal with his boisterous nature. That means no small children! Please get in touch if you think you can help us out. We are also interested in general foster applications as we have a high number of dogs on our wait list. www.gumtreegreys.com.au/foster/ ________________________________________________ #adoptdontshop #adoptagreyhound #adoptadog #greyhoundsofaustralia #greyhoundsofinstagram #dogsofinstagram #gumtreegreys #greyhoundsforadoption #sighthounds #sighthoundsofinstagram #theinstagreyhound #theinstasighthound #greyhoundcorner #retiredgreyhounds #cooldoggroup #fosterdog #greyhound

20.01.2022 Ready for a happy tale? When Bobo came to SADS he was a very timid little boy. He needed a special, understanding home and that's just what he found! His human ...Anna writes: "I adopted Bobo in September last year. He was very skittish at first. Didn’t like humans or other dogs. With a lot of love. Good diet and lots of training he has become the best companion. We go to the dog beach together every other weekend. He has an array of outfits for the never ending change of climate in Melbourne. He is happy. Is learning tricks. Has put on some weight! And is the best thing in 2020 that happened to me." Thank you Anna we're so glad to hear how you have both made a difference in each others lives. We love happy adoption tales, so if you've adopted from us, please send yours through to [email protected] or send us a PM.

19.01.2022 Must watch .... ready, steady ... Puddle Dance!

12.01.2022 If your Labrador likes running around with random things in his mouth, he's a good dog. If your Jack Russell loves to chase small animals she's a good girl. If ...your cattledog likes nipping the heels of any fast moving creature that’s a fine example of its class. If your husky pulls like a draft horse while connected to a harness, SENSATIONAL!! If your German shepherd guards your property with great vigilance, give that dog a bone .... or do you have a Beagle that ignores you when it catches a whiff of something novel on the ground? Well that's just lovely! Before dogs became family pets, they were selectively bred for a plethora of different jobs and purposes; Retrieve ducks, round up livestock, bail up lions, guard properties and pull sleds. The behaviours mentioned above shouldn’t just be written off as ‘behavioural’ issues, they should be celebrated as genetic gifts. Instead of trying to suppress your dogs natural desires or instincts, consider embracing these traits and harnessing them into positive outlets. It’s the reason we acquired a Belgian Malinois for bite work, Springer Spaniels for scent work and an Aussie Shepherd for trick work. Find an appropriate hobby that gives your dog a positive genetic outlet and makes them feel GOOD about themselves as well as addressing that ‘problem’ behaviour. #genetics #thedogsperspective - @ajrtnamedspot
