25.01.2022 It's definitely worth using your own critical thought when looking at predictions being made in the media at the moment, and by some sectors. Things like some sectors predicting a 30% drop in house prices make great headlines, but are most often way off the mark. Remember the much hyped property bubble that was reported a number of years ago that was going to burst, and house prices were going to drop by up to 50%!! Well that never happened. I think it is best to look at wha...t is actually happening, and not make wild, unfounded predictions. At the moment a lot of people who were thinking of selling have hit the pause button, and are waiting to see what happens. This means there are fewer houses on the market, and what I am seeing is that there is strong demand for the properties on the market, and they are selling quite quickly, and for the same price you would have achieved pre-COVID-19. I don't have a crystal ball, and can't say exactly how the property market will react in the medium term to COVID-19, but if house prices drop by 30%, I'LL EAT MY HAT!!! You can hold me to that

12.01.2022 A lot of people are doing it really tough right now, and due to the current restrictions, we cant even get together with family and friends over Easter. Or go up the coast , and camp near the beach where youll invariably get rained on. Although we cant do this, we can be at home with our family if we are lucky enough to have them or if not, well have the time to catch up with people close to us online. For most there will be no work over the Easter period, ...and the stress of home schooling can fade into the background (until it returns), and we can strive to have quality time with people close us, as the normal distractions over Easter will not be there. Although the COVID-19 pandemic is a tragedy, and has killed thousands of people around the world, and the real impact of it socially and economically are as yet unknown, I cant help but feel there is a real opportunity that will come from this. There were many issues in the world before this, like governments only interested in getting re-elected, the vacuousness of social media robbing the world of real thought and debate (I do understand the irony of this considering I am posting this on social media) , people thinking hardship was that their latte was too hot, everyone being connected, but have never been more disconnected, and an erosion of compassion, empathy and community in many aspects of life. The opportunity I see, is that we all thought something like this could never happen in Australia, and now that is has, most of us will look at the world post COVID-19 through a different lens. Well question why things are done a certain way, whereas previously we wouldve just thought because they just are. We may imagine what life can truly be like, if we live more closely aligned to our values and beliefs, and we may take a different path. We may remember to ask people more often how are you going and really mean it. We may cherish our relationships more due to the enforced separation. And if they dont drive us insane first, we may have a deeper, more understanding relationship with our children. If we can see a light at the end of the tunnel, we might just emerge into a brighter world on the other side. Have a safe and happy Easter , and do eat too may Easter eggs !!!
