11.01.2022 We've had so many people reach out and ask us about our chemical free weeding after a recent story we posted. So, here's our Winemaker and Vigneron, John to give us the simple version! Mechanical under-vine weeding is the most widespread organic weed control technique. Traditionally, horse powered, but thankfully adapted to be tractor mounted 'cause we don't have any horses!! Under-vine ploughing/knifing can be quite gentle and weed regrowth can be left to provide some o...rganic matter and plant root restructuring of soil. Works really well with composting. 04.01.2022 Good afternoon everyone! Welcome to sunny Middleton. Im going to show you the work weve been doing on this vineyard at ShowBlock. This vineyard was set up as a double cordon system and that means there are two wires to train the vine on. Weve gone for high quality production and economic use of water so were taking the top cordon off. Then well go through and prune. Now lets get to work on pruning the vine. Were going to prune to two bud spurs. Were going for the hig...hest quality grapes so we can make the highest quality of wine for your guys at home. Here are the canes from last year with all the nodes which will shoot in Spring. If we leave two buds, they will shoot from here and each which produce a bunch of grapes. Its that easy! Theres only 15,000 more to go so lets get to work.
