Traditionally women fast the whole d...ay to make the commitment of love and trust. This year Karva Chauth is celebrated on 4th November 2020. Our Shri Ganesha Temple will open at 4 PM on 4th November to help people come and pray and leave. The COVID restrictions are still in place and all are requested to maintain hand sanitising and social distance, and follow COVID marshal’s orders.

19.01.2022 Due to the current COVID19 lockdown in Adelaide, the Temple IS CLOSED FOR AT LEAST 6 SIX DAYS FROM 19TH NOV, and perhaps for longer as we monitor the situation. As you all know, the Government of SA has announced a 6-day "circuit breaker" period of restrictions across South Australia. In accordance with SA health recommendations and in order to keep our community safe the Shri Ganesha Temple will be closed to the public after midnight 18th Nov until further notice.... If anyone is hosting a puja, they can request the priest attend the ceremony online. Stay Safe.

15.01.2022 RESTRICTIONS FOR GANESHA CHATURTHI - PLEASE READ CAREFULLY - PLEASE SHARE SO ALL ARE AWARE OF THE RESTRICTIONS In view of the restrictions around COVID19 and the need to meet our regulatory and social commitments the following changes have been made to our Ganesha Chaturthi Celebrations at Shri Ganesha Temple. OPENING HOURS: Saturday the 22nd August 2020... 7 am to 12 noon 4 pm to 8 pm PLEASE plan your visit to avoid busy times. THERE ARE MANY CHANGES. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY. * Even if you feel slightly unwell, please dont come to Temple * We recommend that devotees wear MASKS and dispose of them in the provided bins after visiting the Temple. * No programs, Mangal Aarti or Bhajans will be held in the temple this year. * No food will be served at the temple, all devotees are requested NOT TO BRING FOOD OR OFFERINGS to the temple due to COVID restrictions. * Marshals will be taking the TEMPERATURE of devotees prior to entry so please note that if someone has a temperature greater than 37 degrees centigrade, they will not be able to have darshan. * Be prepared to queue as there are limited spaces inside the temple area. * Please follow all directions for entering the Temple, moving through the Temple and exiting. The classes are open for all from age 8 years and above. Adults are also most welcome to join the classes. Classes must be attended regularly except for health or other unavoidable circumstances. The classes will be for 45 minutes. Homework and practical research work are expected to be completed from students on time. Parents must provide approval, in writing, for their children to attend the classes.

06.01.2022 VEDAS AND SHLOKAS CHANTING CLASSES Weekly Vedas and Shlokas chanting classes from mid-June 2020. When: Saturday morning from 9 am to 10 am ... Where: Community Cultural Centre in the Ganesh Temple Complex, 5 Dwyer Road, Oaklands Park Registration: [email protected] / phone - 0406 022 404 Subject to the COVID-19 restrictions, the number of students present in the classroom will be limited in accordance to the government rules. Those who cannot be present at the premises may join online on Zoom. The tradition of Vedic chanting is proclaimed by UNESCO as intangible cultural heritage of human society. The classes are open for all age groups. Classes must be attended regularly except for health reasons or other unavoidable circumstances. After every class, audio files will be provided for chanting practice. Texts in Sanskrit and English will be provided. Regular practice is expected from students. To register, please send an email/whatsapp/text message with your full name and names of family members who wish to join to [email protected] / phone - 0406 022 404 The initial lessons will cover a number of Shanthi Mantras and Sukthams primarily from Rig and Yajur Veda Shaakhaas as well as shlokas composed by our Rishis and Acharyas. But please watch for more announcements should COVID19 conditions change. Please do not visit the Temple if you are feeling unwell or have other symptoms. Please keep our community safe. Please maintain social distancing and hand washing/sanitiser practices at all times. We can now accommodate: ... * 1 person per 2 square meters * Max of 80 people Also: the Temple will open for longer hours so that more devotees can visit the temple. The new temple opening hours are: Monday to Friday 7 8:30 am 6 - 8:30 pm Saturday 7 9:30 am 6 - 8:30 pm Sunday 7 1:00 pm 6 - 8:30 pm Please note that devotees wishing to perform a special pooja/havan outside of these hours can contact our Chief Priest Sri Skandarajah Kurukkal in advance on 0408893075. 03.01.2022 The COVID19 restrictions have had a strong impact on many people. Particularly effected are International Students. Many have lost their jobs and are stranded here. It is difficult for them to find enough to eat. New Migrants are also finding it difficult. The Hindu Society of South Australia are supporting our International Students and new migrants with a basic survival food kit. We are asking for your support and donations of these items of food:... Rice Wheat flour Cooking oil Long-life milk Dal and dried beans Spice mixes Noodles Long-life Heat and Eat packages Any other long life food items We have placed a bin in the Temple - please place your donations there. We will distribute to those in need who register for support. Thank you for your help.

03.01.2022 The Temple will be open again from tomorrow, 11th May, at usual times, under strict conditions and adherence to all social distancing measures. PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING CAREFULLY. If you are even slightly unwell do not come to the temple. It is all of our collective responsibility to keep our families, elders and community safe. It is recommended that you download the COVIDSafe app and make sure it is open during your visit to the Temple, to keep yourself and others safe.... Only 10 people can be present in the temple (apart from priests) at any given time, and must stand on the markers on the floor to worship and pray. Our priests will monitor the number of people present in the Temple. You may have to wait in your car or outside the Temple before you are allowed in to ensure that the number people in the temple premises is not more than 10 at any one time. KEEP SOCIAL DISTANCING WHILE WAITING TO ENTER. Our standard Mangala Aarti will not be held until the situation improves. USE the side entrance in front of Lord Hanuman to enter the temple. Footwear can be left there for now until we make suitable arrangements. Use hand sanitiser (provided) when you enter. Enter your name and contact phone number in the register placed near the entrance (required by state government). Use the markings on the temple floor where devotees can pray, so that social distance is maintained. Please come to the temple pray and then leave to allow others to enter. Should you wish to do archana, pay through EFT rather than cash to avoid cross contamination. Cash donations can be deposited in the donation box. Follow the signs in the temple. (see attached) Exit via the glass door near Lord Hanuman. Times are 7am-8am 6pm - 8pm (till 9 on Fridays) weekend times as usual.

Accordingly, Shri Ganesha Temple is opening for a few more people. PLEASE READ THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW VERY CAREFULLY. Although more people can attend at one time, people present must not exceed more than 1 person per 4 square metres and the 1.5 metres physical distancing must be adhered to.... If you are even slightly unwell do not come to the Temple. It is all our collective responsibility to keep our families, elders and community safe. 1. Only 20 people per room are allowed in the Temple. We have opened the social hall and therefore we have two rooms (social hall and main Temple area) to accommodate 20 people in each room. 2. Our standard Mangala Aarti will not commence as of now until the situation improves. 3. Use the side entrance in front of Lord Hanuman to enter the temple. Footwear can be left there for now until we make suitable arrangements. 4. Hand sanitisers are placed at entry point. Use hand sanitiser when you enter. 5. 01.01.2022 ANNOUNCEMENT OF COVID19 RESTRICTIONS FOR VARALAKSHMI VRAT ON 31ST JULY On Friday the 31st July we will be celebrating the Varalakshmi Vrat / Lamp Pooja at the temple under the current COVID-19 restrictions of accommodating 1 person per 2sqm. Traditionally women join this celebration and light a lamp at the temple.... This year due to the requirement of adhering to the social distancing requirements, we will need to make some changes. Space is limited to 75 people sitting down and performing the lamp puja at the temple, so we will need you to please register your attendance by PHONING: 0429 698 198 It will be on a first come first serve basis so please register as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. Spouses and children will be accommodated in the cultural community hall which also has a limited capacity to accommodate 75 people. We will monitor these numbers so please cooperate with us. Should you wish to come to the Temple and take darshan and leave please do so between 6:00pm and 6:30 pm on that day. Varalaxmi Puja will commence from 7 pm and is expected to conclude by 8:00pm Our earnest request to all our members is that if you are unwell kindly do not attend the temple to protect our community and families. A prepacked simple prasad will be handed out by temple to avoid food handling and crowding. We accept credit or debit cards for payment of archana fee. We encourage minimising cash handling to reduce the risk of COVID-19.
