25.01.2022 Season’s Greetings to all my friends near and far Whatever challenges are coming up for us all, may we move through them into greater love as swiftly as possible Best wishes, Alice
23.01.2022 BIG NEWS FOR HARMONIUM LOVERS and NEW PLAYERS!!! You can now purchase excellent quality small size harmoniums from me directly without the need to also sign up for tuition. It's taken 7 years of research and development in my business to get to this point. Along with teaching and instrument repairs, I sell quality products that I service and tune post-shipping. Supply of decent quality harmoniums is still limited in Australia but I'm working steadily to improve availability f...or you all. Getting this far has been a huge effort! Are you ready? Since 2013 I've been building intercultural friendship bridges to collaborate with some reliable and trustworthy instrument producers. Most brands that I buy, service and sell are still only available direct to my private students. But I have entered an agreement with Old Delhi Music to be their distributor and will sell their products direct in Australia; the first batch of ODM harmoniums arrived straight from India this month. So happy!!!! I really respect and admire their products, integrity and ethics. And the sounds of these instruments are absolutely divine. I love them! You can now pre-order Bhava Mini Kirtan and Bhava Classic Kirtan harmonium models from me. Price is the same as on the ODM website, but Australian domestic postage fees are much less than international from USA or single-unit international postage fees from India (about $200 per instrument just for extra international postage!) Buying Bhava Harmoniums from me, you will avoid this high postage cost and also make a huge saving on carbon costs by replacing the India-USA-Australia route with India-Australia direct. If you buy ANYTHING directly from the Old Delhi Music website you can ask me for my Coupon Code to use at ODM online checkout for a 5% saving and ODM will send your purchase from America to anywhere in the world. If you'd like to MAKE A LARGER SAVING THAN 5% on Bhava Mini or Bhava Classic Harmoniums and you are in Australia or NZ, contact me directly to purchase your new instrument. 22.01.2022 How are you going with the 2020 renegotiation of spatial paradigms? This year, like never before, has brought us all into greater mindfulness and understanding of how we relate to each other and to space and objects in ways that are very new as a global collective. My learning curve with mindfulness and spatial awareness was epic when I lived in Kyoto for a decade. But 2020 tops all that by a long shot! What a journey! Earlier this year I birthed a new musical collective whi...ch is called The Harmonium Choir. I had to muster all the courage I could to birth this dream into reality. Big challenge but really worth the effort. It’s brand new for Planet Earth and it’s so exciting to be part of! Though you’d never guess from this spatially-distanced photo, there are 18 of us in the group. We all play harmoniums (well-tuned ones) and ride the waves of sound and silence together in ways that transform our lives in unexpected ways. All the members of The Harmonium Choir take private tuition with me in harmonium, vocals, and mantra meditation. Students learn music theory and composition, linguistics (Sanskrit, Gurumukh, Arabic) and the energetics of how to use multidimensional space for self-healing and for facilitating healing for others. We meet fortnightly and absolutely love getting together and creating a buzz with our instruments. Recently the choir held our first sharing for friends and family and it was very well received. Thanks to all who participated and for the amazing feedback!!! The Harmonium Choir will soon be offering immersive sound healing experiences for the wider community. Together we journey through sound and silence, diving deep into transformational sound-vibrational experiences with beautiful music to offer healing, therapy, and upliftment for all. If you’re interested in receiving invitations to our events just let me know Alice

17.01.2022 You often hear that your health is in your hands. Well, it literally is. Mudras are hand and finger gestures that we can adopt during meditation or pranayama (breathing exercises).

14.01.2022 Buzzing from a beautiful sing on the mountain top and finding some new harmonies to finish writing my take on a special song. More coming soon...
12.01.2022 "We Choose Love" Gifting this song to you all from our hearts is a true pleasure. I've been singing this for 7 years and constantly evolving my version that I heard one full moon night in Thailand many years ago. I've added new lyrics, new melodies, and new harmonies. Today Tahnee Woolf and I sang my version together for the first time and a whole new level of soundscapes and beautiful harmonies emerged. Thanks Tahnee!... We loved our first run through so much that we decided to film, record, and release it TODAY! Five hours later, we've produced our first home video. YAY! The creator of the original version is a mystery to me, so if anyone recognises the lyrics that seeded this creation, please send links so I can acknowledge the source. The song has definitely become something new now, a fresh offering for these times of the Great Pause and the Great Evolution of Humankind 2020. We hope you'll enjoy listening, and that some of you will feel inspired to sing along. 09.01.2022 Starlight Festival Sat 9th Jan 2021 11:30 - 12:30... Harmonium Choir Mantra Soundbath 12:45 - 1:45 Shrine River Mantra Soundscapes @ Soulsounds Space Moller Pavilion, Bangalow Join me and The Harmonium Choir for a blissful dive into the transformational sound medicine of mantras and the free-reed harmonium. Bring cushions, shawl, and a yoga mat if you’d like to lie down, as well as a willingness to restfully soak up the magic of some beautiful sound-vibrational therapy for your wellbeing. The State of NSW currently limits singing indoors to 5 people without masks, with others present advised to wear masks and keep 1.5m distant from each other, and 5m distant from unmasked singers. For this reason, you are welcome to wear a mask or face covering to sing or chant the mantras with us, or you may prefer to practice the wonderful Art of Humming Along (mask-free). Lying down to receive the Soundscapes as a Soundbath is also a beautiful way you may choose to participate. Looking forward to a very special Saturday at Starlight https://starlightfestival.com.au/p/alice-miyagawa-read-more

07.01.2022 Yesterday lunchtime a dream suddenly come true for me!!! I got to sit at this beautiful pipe organ to play and sing to my heart’s content! What a blessing... and a joy!! It has two hand keyboards with various stoppers to create different sounds, and a couple of octaves of foot pedals for the bass notes The sound resonance in the church was magnificent!! I look forward to playing this beauty more as time unfolds See more
07.01.2022 Hello beautiful Kirtan family and lovers of Indian Classical Music Menaka Thomas from Brisbane is sharing free online sessions every Sunday 7:30-8:30pm until late June. If you love kirtan you should join! Scroll to end of this text for event link.... I first met her when she performed with Bhakti Soul Sangeet (trio with Shen and Radha) in Mullum in 2014. I was struck by her voice, style and professionalism and knew I’d met a singer I’d like to journey with through the years. Soon after we met I invited to host her Karnatic Voice Workshop in Byron Bay. I was totally blown away by the way she conducted the session. So much preparation to provide us with clearly organised materials to guide us through, plus a bound booklet and CD of audio supplements for each participant to take home. I still use those vocal techniques, sargam exercises and Sanskrit chants in my own practice and teaching now, six years later! BIO Menaka Visvanathan Thomas has been a student of Karnatic (South Indian) classical music since she was just 5. She received tutelage under the loving and inspiring guidance of her mother, Mrs Vijaya Visvanathan, principal of Brisbane's Sri Krishna Music Academy. She has a passion for sharing the divinity of Indian music, and performs at community events and festivals such as Woodford Folk Festival, Queensland Multicultural Festival, and Encounters India Festival. Menaka has recently begun to explore fusion of Indian classical music with other world music genres. Collaborating with Radha Bornstein and Shen Flindell, she's a member of the devotional fusion group Spirit of Bhakti. In May 2019 she released her first album My Eyes Can See. Watch video here of title track from album launch at Queensland Multicultural Centre https://youtu.be/mcR1rITh30k Menaka also runs Samaana Yoga & Indian Fine Arts, imparting yoga, Indian classical music, and dance (Bharata-Natyam) to people of all ages and backgrounds. "Whether you are an aspiring performer, curious explorer of world traditions, lover of Indian dance and music or just wanting to find solace and peace in sacred sounds and movements, learning Indian Fine Arts at Samaana could be for you." 07.01.2022 One of the most beautiful ways to greet the morning sun is through the Gayatri Mantra. O bhr bhuvas-sva tatsavitur vareya bhargo devasya dhmahi... dhiyo yo na pracodayt Sreedevi K. Bringi translates this with beauty We invoke the three realms (lokas) of manifesting Consciousness in the Universe: physical (manifested), intermediate (becoming) and celestial (causal). We meditate on that adorable Divine effulgence which radiates through the Sun. May That Divine Light illumine our minds (intuitions).

03.01.2022 WISHING YOU ALL MUCH JOY IN 2021 My days have been filled with the busyness of work lately and I’m diving into the new year with full commitment to my music, teaching my students and other work, most of it in support of my friends and students. Yesterday I hiked in the forest then swam in healing waters. Besides that not much holiday for me yet, but it’s by choice and by necessity, and I’m happy that there is good swimming and beautiful green nature and beaches on my doors...tep. Today I was gifted this stunning rose by my first harmonium and vocal student of the year. It smells so sweet and the colour is superb. So unusual. On Thursday both of my last students for 2020 came bearing exquisite chocolates. My heart is touched. Last Wednesday night my final gig for the year was a great success, a full house even though I’d organised it in less than 72 hours! I was so happy to share my music with so many beautiful people, all singing their hearts into the bliss as one. My gratitude is overflowing for the gifts which last year brought and I look forward to 2021 with hope and happiness, dreaming new visions into being. Maybe you and I will share pathways to achieve our dreams together... Best wishes to you all for healthy, joyful, and prosperous lives in 2021 and beyond
