25.01.2022 In 1992 (then) councillor Jim Wilding helped the club to locate a park Soroptimist International Brisbane club could call its own. 100 trees were planted to beautify the park on the corner of Beckett Road and Ustinov Crescent, McDowell and a plaque acknowledging Soroptimist attached to one of the park benches. Members regularly visited the park to nurture the trees, and hold picnics. In 1998, with the help of Councillor Wilding and his wife a further 98 trees were planted.... Today the trees have grown and a much bigger sign signifies Soroptimist Retreat. Also, Elia had a seat built the size of a table and this is still there and painted green.
