20.01.2022 Heat pump thermal battery maximises your solar power

17.01.2022 Insulating a slab on ground in a southern or inland Australian climate A structural slab has a very important role to play apart from being the base of your home. It can act as store of heating or cooling energy, particularly if you have a hydronic underfloor heating/cooling system installed inside your slab. However, it can also effectively transmit your inside heating/cooling to the outside unless you insulate it. In fact, your Energy Star Rating can be affected to the tun...e of around 1 Star depending on whether you insulate your slab or not, including the sides. You can either place rigid polystyrene or similar panels underneath and around the sides of your slab or your can place a layer of insulating panels on top of your structural slab and to the sides if it is set into the structural slab. You can then lay your hydronic circuits in these panels then pour a finishing screed over the top. Either in-slab or in-screed will work fine as long as the underside and sides are insulated. Otherwise, you can lose up to 40% of your heating/cooling energy through the slab to the outside, very inefficient. You will lose more energy if the ground is wet. Your slab can hold onto energy generated during the day with your heat pump powered by your solar panels and release it into the evening when the sun goes down. So insulating it to preserve this energy makes a lot of sense. In-slab hydronic circuits give more energy storage to release into the evening but this method is less resposnsive and vice versa for in-screed hydronic circuits.

17.01.2022 Elementor #1697 Heating, Ventilation and Cooling (HVAC) Design starts with thinking through your needs. Good building design has low heating and cooling requirements. This enables all-electric solutions with energy efficient appliances such as inverter heat pumps and air conditioners. These appliances can be largely powered by solar panels. The thermal energy can be stored in the mass inside your home during the day and released at night.

10.01.2022 Gas Boiler to Heat Pump A hydronic gas boiler can be effectively changed over to a heat pump and there are benefits including: reducing your heating and cooling bills significantly by using your solar power, gaining summer cooling in reverse cycle, reducing greenhouse emissions and adding value to your home.

05.01.2022 Cool Temperate Zone Heating This climate zone is ideally suited to solar powered hydronic heat pumps. This an efficient and effective way of heating and cooling your new home or renovation in a southern Cool Temperate zone. Australia’s southern Cool Temperate zones are located in the ACT, NSW highlands, inland NSW, inland Victoria and Tasmania
