Its founders, Joe and Lydia Bastianic, are known throughout the world as the leading culinary shows, restaurateurs and authors of a number of popular books. ... The wine has a gentle, expressive fruity shades, with white flowers and light mineral haze. The Bastianich has a pleasant, refined taste, demonstrating a good balance of freshness and fruity. The aftertaste is long, with mineral accents. The CASTELLANI MICHELE estate consists of about 40 hectares of directly owned or grown vineyards situated in the hillside area of the Valpolicella Classica. Both the new vineyard and the well renowned ones at Ca'del Pipa and Castei, in the heart of Valpolicella Classica. The nose opens with intense Morello and bing cherry with soft, savoury spice. It leans to the lighter side of mid-weight with plush, spicy red fruits and savoury herbs and spice nuances. Bright and crunchy with a nice bitter clip at the end.

07.01.2022 A little something interesting from Sidebar Wine 2018 DOMAINE PICHOT VOUVRAY SEC COTEAU DE LA BICHE and 2019 TERRE À TERRE PICCADILLY RED. The Pichot family is one of the oldest in Vouvray with origins as restaurateurs going back to 1739 later followed by the purchase of the superb Coteau de la Biche vineyards in 1770. These days the wine maker is Christophe Pichot. This wine comes from vines situated just above the family house and winery in the prime south-east facing Val...lee de Nouys. Aromas of pear candied fruit and spice with hints of honey and that distinctive chalkiness that is so typical of great Vouvray. Fine, brilliantly focused flavours with exceptional texture and length this shows the tension typical of great dry Vouvray. From the beginning, the vision for Terre à Terre has been to grow grapes of exceptional quality from our carefully selected vineyard sites every year, and then vinify them using the best of French and Australian wine practices. With rigour and precision, winemaking couple Xavier Bizot and Lucy Croser can produce world class fine wines which will have great ageing potential, combining elegance and power. A blend of the different red grape varietals Trousseau Noir, Cabernet Franc, Mondeuse and Merlot from their Piccadilly Valley vineyard, with cranberries, pomegranate, violets and sweet vanillin spice bounce up out of the glass. Its chalky tannins give the wine a nice firmness whilst the juicy red fruits and bright acidity keep it lively and fresh.

06.01.2022 2 STUNNING WINES FROM MARLBOROUGH, NZ Novum is a moving tribute to everything that Will and Rachel have learned through their considerable careers to date. Will started as a cellar hand and finished as General Manager and winemaker at Fromm after 19 years. Rachel played with both winemaking and marketing, graduating winemaking at Roseworthy and immediately departing to chase her love of Chardonnay with vintages at Domaine Drouhin in Oregon en route to Domaine des Comtes La...fon in Meursault, before returning to NZ in marketing roles at Cloudy Bay and later, Fromm. NED GOODWIN MW REVIEWS 2019 NOVUM CHARDONNAY $63 95 Points A limpid pale yellow augurs restraint. Very savoury. Chalky and oyster shell-saline, with the fruit a flashback rather than primary focus. Riffs on oatmeal biscuit, apricot pith, barley sugar, nashi pear and raw cashew are reeled across a spool of tensile acidity, punctuated with a gentle pucker. A high-wire act, this is balletic in its elegance and confident in the way it moves across the mouth. Some sexy oak nestled in there somewhere as an adjunct rather than a scream. Nothing jangly or coarse. Just strident, persuasive and extremely fine of length and feel. 2018 NOVUM PINOT NOIR $63 94 Points I like this. A lot! A typically NZ in its structural meld of fine-boned tannins, sandy latticework of acidity and something salty and moreish. The structure is the totem, sure, but the core of subtle fruit creeps up: damson plum, bloodstone, bing cherry, orange zest and a cinnamon twirl of oak. There is nothing too sweet, cloying or overly exuberant about this. The voice is one of measured, mid-weighted refinement. A benchmark for the region.

Intense wine, complex with fine bubbles that spiral elegantly to the top of the glass, green lemon aromas, peach and brioche, ample mousse in the palate, fresh acidity and fine fruit make this wine exceptionally enjoyable.
01.01.2022 We at Sidebar would like to welcome two new additions to our list. 2019 CORYMBIA CABERNET SAUVIGNON and 2015 TERRAZZE DELL'ETNA 'CARUSU' Corymbia is the deep-rooted, far-sighted vision of husband-and wife-team, Rob and Genevieve Mann. The Mann name is synonymous with Western Australia’s Swan Valley, where Rob’s pioneering grandfather Jack worked a remarkable 51 consecutive vintages for Houghton.... This Margret River Cabernet is a stunning wine, medium bodied with violet and black razz berry on the nose, plum and black olive on the palate with fine tannin and a long savoury finish. Terrazze dell'Etna 'Carusu' is a Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappucio blend hailing from Sicily. The property Terrazze dell’Etna stretches from 650 to 950 meters above sea level and brushes up against the natural Etna Park. It was acquired in 2008 by Nino Bevilacqua, a Palermitan engineer deeply in love with his homeland. His passion for Sicily has induced him to rediscover and restore an ancient and characteristic agricultural estate, purchasing numerous small plots of land which shape an amphitheatre of terraces where vineyards are cultivated. A prime example of an Etna wine, cherry and strawberry leaf hints on the nose, smokey cranberry with spice on the palate and a fine mineral finish.
