16.01.2022 Glitter is typically made of plastic and is not environmentally friendly.... That’s why we wanted to create some more environmentally friendly glitter that wasn’t made of plastic or harmful ingredients. Polyethylene terephthalate (sometimes written poly(ethylene terephthalate)), commonly abbreviated PET, PETE, or the obsolete PETP or PET-P, is the most common thermoplastic polymer resin of the polyester family and is used in fibres for clothing, containers for liquids and foo...ds, thermoforming for manufacturing and usually makes up for 95% of GLITTER! Our first batch is made of 95% cellulose generated rayon (primarily wood pulp)- our first batch still has 0.1% of aluminium which can break down with chemical compounds and 2.3% epoxy resin which unfortunately we just found out is not 100% biodegradable. Our promise is to continue to refine the product and packaging. Sienna wants it to be the safest and most sustainable glitter in the world Every step of the way Sienna (and mum) are learning new things about the product, the business and how to improve it every single day. But like anything we have to start somewhere! We thought our first batch was 100% biodegradable but it’s actually only 97.7% there - but that won’t stop us from continuing to spread this awesome message with this brilliant product with profits going to refugees.
