25.01.2022 A great piece by the National Shooting Sports Foundation | NSSF on the discrimination that legitimate businesses in the firearms industry face against ‘woke’ media platforms. Even though the article is US based, this is a worldwide issue. #socialmedia #media #firearms #australianshooting #sifa

22.01.2022 With trade and shooting restrictions now being gently eased in TAS WA, QLD, NT, SA, NSW and VIC (check your state/territory advice), we're still right at work. Yes, business is hard for many industries, and we're not asking for special treatment. We're asking for fair. And things are starting to look better for Australian Licensed Firearms Dealer business. We think there's light at the end of the tunnel, and we want to thank every Australian Licensed Firearms Dealer and Owner for your exemplary commitment to our communities during COVID-19. We're looking forward to working together on our #bizUplift. Stay tuned. Laura 0408 296 521 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TTgES66mUsc&feature=youtu.be

21.01.2022 WA trade restrictions lifted on WA Licensed Firearms Owners and Dealers. Firearms License Applications reactivated, permits being processed and firearms and ammunition available for appropriately licensed customers. Great result.

21.01.2022 Senator Bridget McKenzie has been asking the tough questions, trying to get to the bottom of the ridiculous gun shop closures during COVID. Firearms businesses ARE essential businesses and should never have been closed. Thank you Senator.

20.01.2022 This is a huge betrayal of trust and not to mention a risk to public safety. Any leak of personal data is not acceptable, but when the police basically leak a shopping list of legally held firearms, it makes the matter so much worse. SIFA will be writing to the Queensland Police Minister asking how this came about and seeking assurances that this can NEVER happen again.

19.01.2022 Media Release: Queensland Police Publicly Leak Sensitive Firearm Data. The Shooting Industry Foundation of Australia is shocked and appalled at the announcement that the QLD Police Service have leaked the personal data of hundreds of licensed firearms owners. The data breach happened when the Moreton region of the Queensland Police were emailing licensed firearms owners in the area to remind them of their safe storage requirements due to a spate of gun thefts in the local are...a. Instead of hiding the email addresses and names of the email recipients, the Queensland Police made the details public when the email was sent, potentially providing a shopping list of local gun owners and their safe storage locations to criminals. SIFA Executive Officer James Walsh said This is an unacceptable breach of trust by the Queensland Police Service that is ultimately a public safety risk. The leak comes at a time when SIFA is campaigning in Queensland to increase public safety by seeking legislative change to the Queensland Firearms Amnesty that will see more illegal and unregistered firearms taken out of the community. Walsh said This data breach could have the opposite effect of what SIFA is trying to achieve, and lead to more firearms thefts which will increase the number of illicit firearms in the community. SIFA is in the process of communicating with the Queensland Police Minister, the Hon. Mr. Mark Ryan, seeking answers on how something like this could be allowed to happen. SIFA is also asking for assurances from the Queensland Police Minister that the Police will update their procedures and policies to ensure that this can never happen again, and that any licensed firearm owners who may be adversely affected by this will not be unfairly treated by Queensland Police. 19.01.2022 To Australian Licensed Firearms Owners and Dealers, we say Thank You.

18.01.2022 Queensland Firearms Amnesty Misses Target! By adding overbearing regulation around the anonymous surrender of unregistered firearms, the Queensland Government has removed many of the incentives for those who are in possession of unregistered firearms, to do the right thing and hand them in. This will leave unregistered firearms in the community. The Government also expects dealers who support the amnesty to provide their services for no commercial return and to bear the costs... of additional compliance. Dealers will be left thousands of dollars out of pocket, and in the current economic environment where businesses are already heavily impacted by COVID-19, this is simply unacceptable! SIFA has already been contacted by licensed firearms dealers across Queensland advising that they will be forced to turn away those who are looking to hand in unregistered firearms, as they simply cannot afford to meet the requirements for compliance with the new regulations. In the interests of post COVID economic recovery and public safety, SIFA calls on the Queensland Government to immediately review its firearms amnesty legislation. As firearms industry experts, SIFA will welcome any engagement with the Queensland Government to ensure a successful firearms amnesty. 16.01.2022 SIFA had a great meeting today with Shooters Union New South Wales and Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (NSW) Inc. where we all agreed that it is important to work together on various issues affecting the NSW firearms industry. Thank you to Craig Golding and Jai Rowell for coming together today in unity.

15.01.2022 Thank you Senator Bridget McKenzie for once again, standing up for the firearms industry and trying to get to the bottom of the ridiculous government enforced gun shop closures in QLD, WA and VIC during COVID.

15.01.2022 It was great to catch up with Craig from Shooters Union NSW today. SIFA looks forward to working with the fine team at Shooters Union NSW.

13.01.2022 Hear from Elena Galiabovitch in this ABC Sunday Session Episode! https://www.abc.net.au//the-sunday-session-episod/12231520

13.01.2022 Vale Rod Drew The Australian firearms industry has lost a true icon. It is with profound sadness that the SIFA family announces the passing of a true Australian firearms industry icon. Rod Drew passed away peacefully on Friday evening after a courageous battle with Leukemia.

12.01.2022 Thank you Senator Bridget McKenzie for representing the interests of the firearms industry in senate estimates.

12.01.2022 They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them.

10.01.2022 Queensland shooters take note.

08.01.2022 SIFA was thrilled to work with WAFTA to secure the uplift of trade restrictions on WA Licensed Firearms Dealers. SIFA is not associated with legal action against WAPolice.

07.01.2022 Queensland is now the only state to retain its irrational trade restrictions on Licensed Firearms Owners.

05.01.2022 Every bit helps.

03.01.2022 The Andrews Government needs to urgently explain its decision to ban all recreational fishing under stage 3 restrictions. While exercise is a legitimate reason ...for people to leave their homes under Stage 3, the Minister for Fishing and Boating declared yesterday that all recreational fishing was banned in Victoria. This is inconsistent with New South Wales which confirmed that recreational fishing can continue, so long as social distancing and public gathering rules are observed. This recognises fishing as a form of passive exercise.

03.01.2022 After many difficult weeks for Licensed Firearms Dealers, the last Trade Restrictions have now been lifted. While we welcome states' and territories' admissions that trade restrictions on Licensed Firearms Dealers were not required or desired, we have positioned to ensure that arbitrary and punitive trade restraints can not be enforced in this manner again. Licensed Firearms Dealers should refer to the Work Safe rules in their home state/territory to protect the health of your staff and customers; this isn't over. But meantime, thank you. You've done an extraordinary job to flatten the curve while providing essential services and equipment. Keep it up. And lets face this next 6 months in unity, with care for our colleagues and with compassion in our communities. Laura

01.01.2022 Trade restrictions lifted on Licensed Firearms Dealers in Western Australia. Solid decision and welcomed with thanks from SIFA.
