09.05.2022 Working bee volunteers... 2017 was certainly the year of working bees on a mammoth scale for the club, including obtaining grants to fund the required works & the voluntary labour from these guys to carry it out. Thank you to the crew who worked for months on these projects - Daryl, Peter, Max, Mick, David, Charlie, Brad (borrowed from the Pistol Club) & the overseer, Richard (getting everyone on site at the same time for a photo op proved tricky so a little photo shopping has been added)

24.01.2022 Sad to say, after 52 issues, the TRA e-mag is no more. Apparently no one reads it and there is little point being an editor without readers. Thanks to those who have supported the concept from the start. Tricia

20.01.2022 Statement CANCELLATION OF 2020 TRA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS Notice is hereby given that the 2020 Target Rifle Australia National Championships has been cancelle...d. The board of directors has made this reluctant decision based on advice received in the last 24 hours concerning the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and after consultation with the organising committee of the host member organisation, NSWSARAI. As stated in previous correspondence, the situation that has arisen was unforeseen by Target Rifle Australia Ltd. The health and well-being of Target Rifle Australia members, officials, volunteers, staff and all stakeholders is always Target Rifle Australia’s highest consideration when scheduling events in Australia and the decision to cancel the 2020 TRA National Championships has been made with this in mind. Target Rifle Australia Ltd. will fully refund any nomination fees already paid for everyone who has entered the 2020 TRA Nationals. To arrange a refund of entry fees, please contact the Secretary 2020 TRA National Championships Organising Committee, Mrs Sandra Maranik, via email: [email protected] The Board of Directors of Target Rifle Australia extends its sincere apologies to all members intending to participate in the 2020 TRA National Championships and thanks everyone for their understanding at this unprecedented and difficult time. 20.01.2022 Beautiful weather for cooking outside

20.01.2022 Congratulations to our Pistol Club neighbour, Ben Grossi, on being named Broken Hill sportsperson of the year. Ben is the 2018 Australian National Champion for single action & cowboy action shooting.

19.01.2022 Dane's golden day.

18.01.2022 It is with regret that due to unseen issues with the West Australian range, the 2019 Nationals will be transferred to another State to be announced Tuesday 8th. We wish WA all the best in resolving the issue.

18.01.2022 Great conditions for this morning's 20m match with 11 shooters to the line over two details (& a few folks we haven't seen for a while)

18.01.2022 We were delighted to have a visit from the Morgan Small Bore Rifle Club members this morning, Kevin, Danny, Kieran, Chloe, Dakota & Jia. The Silver City turned on its usual windy weather but as the shoot was only 20 metres a couple of class 3s (Kevin & Dakota) had no problem producing a 300 each & Danny (Class 1) claimed that class's top score for the match. Might make this an annual event guys!

18.01.2022 Not much movement in the wind flags this morning which resulted in five 600s

14.01.2022 Almost a full line up at the range this morning (although the chair at the end of the frames remains a mystery...is it for a line umpire, the range officer's chair...?? or maybe it's just somewhere to have a rest after the long walk to put the flag up)

14.01.2022 Well... We can see who's been using the range during holiday shut down! Camping on the veranda by the look of it...

14.01.2022 Peter Oriel posted this on Broken Hill Community page yesterday.. "Do you know this couple. Found this wedding photo (along with a couple of aeronautical maps of Broken Hill and some Marylin Monroe posters) while cleaning out a shed on Blende st. Looks like early 70s."

13.01.2022 It is beyond comprehension that the club has to announce the passing of another of its own just two days after that of our Captain Richard. It is with great sadness we wish to let everyone know of the passing of our long time Treasurer & member, David Trenerry on Sunday 5th May. David kept a tight rein on the cheque book & cash tin to keep us in the black for many years & he will be sadly missed. One had to put a good argument forward to be given a cheque. Looking for photos to post & the memory was jogged that most stock photos held by the club Dave actually took at presentations on behalf of the recipients, indeed many of the photos on this site are "Photos by David". Vale David Trenerry

12.01.2022 The Museum will be a drop-off point once again for the upcoming NSW Firearms Amnesty (1st July to 30th September). Pictured above are some of the handguns that ...came into our collection during the last amnesty, rather than meeting the fate that awaits those handed in at police stations. We can help you in three different ways: - If you have a current gun license we can register your unregistered firearms on the spot for $10 per firearm. - We can accept all types of firearms as donations to the museum. - We can accept firearms, firearm parts, old ammunition or prohibited items for disposal. Donations or disposals can be anonymous if you wish. If you need any information concerning your firearms or the legislation, phone our firearms dealer Kerry on 0427 560 238. For further information on the amnesty itself, see https://www.police.nsw.gov.au/online_servi/firearms/amnesty

11.01.2022 Congratulations to Silver City SBRC shooters, Daryl & Peter on their gold & bronze medals at SA's State Championships on the weekend. Daryl, in B Grade Class 3, recorded the ONLY 600 at 20m (including A Grade!). Well done Daryl! Peter won bronze for overall aggregate Class 1

11.01.2022 The first Sturt pea plant to flower at the Club this season & with some good follow up rain there will be many more to come

10.01.2022 NOTICE OF RANGE CLOSURE Due to the ongoing COVID-19 health crisis, and in line with Government directives, Silver City SBRC have made the difficult decision to close our range effective immediately. Our members and our volunteers health and safety has always been our number one priority and it is our goal to see everyone back out at the range once this situation has passed. Stay safe people

10.01.2022 #TeamAUS Announcement|| 28 athletes will take to the shooting range at Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games in April! A world class team - these three gave us a taste of what’s to come. FULL DETAILS: http://bit.ly/2rOlV4g

09.01.2022 It is with much regret we announce the passing of yet another of our long time members, Barry Hobbins, on June 30. Barry, who was the club's score room recorder & scribe for much of the last two decades, was phenomenal with numbers (we called him the human calculator) & his handwriting was always equivalent to calligraphy. He was very proud of his score sheets & not impressed if a score was challenged & he had to change it, we bought him white out (liquid & ribbons) but Barry & white out did not gel. Those who came to our Prize Shoots would remember Barry in the score room whizzing trough totals out of 1800 quicker than most could use a calculator. In more recent times Excel took over the additions but, not being a fan of computers, he still liked to check everything! Vale Barry

02.01.2022 Could our two juniors, Koda & Maya, get their scores any closer! Both are holding up their best card for the day, a 297.18. Maya went on to take the 50m junior win by 2 points over brother Koda.
