18.01.2022 STH WIN - Gleneagles Medini Hospital, Malaysia Silver Thomas Hanley recently won the design competition for this exciting new flagship hospital project in Iskandar, Malaysia for our clients at Parkway Group. Beating stiff competition from 10 other acclaimed local and international health architects alike, a seamless collaboration between STH (Melbourne) and third-time partner B+H Architects (Canada) has culminated in the winning of the invite-only competition. Stage one is expected to be completed in 2014.

18.01.2022 The Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Cancer Centre (ARHCC) is one of few hospitals in Canada that received gold certification in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED). Compared to a typical hospital, ARHCC consumes about 38 per cent less energy and produces about 3,120 fewer tons of carbon emissions that result in savings of about $480,000 that can be reinvested annually into patient care. The ARHCC parking lot has 28 stalls with charging stations for electric vehicles and the property harvests rainwater to irrigate the native-to-B.C. plants in the gardens. 16.01.2022 This project will provide purpose-built, state of the art facilities including a dedicated cancer centre, renal and day oncology unit, 14 operating theatres, 25 consulting suites, a state of the art emergency department and a hydrotherapy pool for rehabilitiation. A total of 394 beds are proposed, including a 60 bed rehabilitation unit and a 32 bed maternity unit. Floor plans allow for future expansion capabilities with additional space provided. The proposed development will... also integrate clinical practice with teaching and research facilities with an educational precinct linked to Deakin University, providing clinical training for undergraduate and postgraduate medical, nursing and allied health students. This exciting project is being developed by Silver Thomas Hanley in association with Kann Finch Group Melbourne.

Stage one, is the construction of the new building that will house acute services, with stage two being the refurbishment of existing hospital facilities. The state-of-the-art health precinct will be the major referral centre for Melbournes east. 14.01.2022 The new Gleneagles Medini Hospital is a phased development of a comprehensive and fully integrated private healthcare services platform within the Medini area of the Iskander Region in Johor, Malaysia. The 450-bed complex will be built in 3 phases on a 14-acre site. Regional materials will be used to tie the hospital to the architecture and imagery of other iconic buildings throughout the region.

A symbolic key exchange to mark the occasion took place on November 26th, attended by Deb Matthews, the Minister of Health and Long-Term Care all project partners and hospital officials. Over 2.7 million man hours went into the construction of the new hospital which wa...s completed on time and on budget despite a delay caused by the GFC. 07.01.2022 Silver Thomas Hanley have designed and delivered this new teaching, training and research building for the University of Melbourne, Victoria University and Western Health. This $40 million, five level building, houses lecture theatres and seminar facilities. It also includes laboratories and offices to attract nursing and medical students and staff to a collaborative type of learning. The key design factors included the introduction of the central atrium which allows for natural light to penetrate deep into the building on the lower floors. The incorporation of 2 activity strands or pavilions instead of one large building mass maximizes access to daylight and views for the building occupants. Project Completed 2011

02.01.2022 The Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre in Parkville, Victoria is a new $1B world-class comprehensive cancer centre to be delivered as a public private partnership (PPP) under the Governments Partnerships Victoria framework. STH, in association with Design Inc and MCR Architects will deliver this world class cancer facility as part of the Plenary Health consortium. Construction commenced in late 2011 with a completion date set for the end of 2015.

This hospital is the first Public Private Partnership (PPP) project for an acute care hospital and cancer centre in Canada. The 300 bed hospital was awarded the North American Project Finance Deal of the year for 2004 and Gold LEED Certification on completion in 2008. The facility was built on time, on budget and within scope and provides specialised health services to more than 150,000 people in the greater Abbotsford area and up to 300,000 people in the Fraser Valley region.
