06.01.2022 To all our followers, if you see a message like this, it is not legitimate. Someone has made a fake page and it has been reported. The competition does not close till mid August. We will confirm a draw date in the next week.

03.01.2022 Little things, big meaning. Well done to all of our team involved in this movement. Below was sent to us by Captain Paul Yandle from the Emerald Fire Brigade - . . . On Monday, one of our CFA brigade family was laid to rest, David Davidson Little (Doc) was a member of our brigade for 22 years and recently moved to Seaham NSW where he continued his volunteer fire service with the Seaham RFS brigade. Sadly, Covid 19 lockdown rules prevented any of our brigade members travel...ling to attend Doc’s funeral in NSW. We had been requested to supply a CFA flag to drape over Doc’s coffin for the service, but due to the significant postal delays because of Covid we had the dilemma of getting the flag from our fire station in Emerald Victoria to the organisers in Mid NSW in time for the funeral. One of our volunteers (FF Calum Bean) drives for Simon National Carriers and was able to put us in touch with Simon’s National Operations Manager, Mick West. Once being told of the situation Mick, who as it turns out is also a CFA volunteer, did not hesitate for a second and said he would make it happen, and that he did. Our flag as well as some personal tributes to Doc were dropped off at Simon’s Braeside depot at 1.30pm on the Wednesday and dispatched at 2pm with a driver headed for the Sydney depot. This was followed by a quick 4am handover to the driver headed to Tomago NSW, amazingly the special delivery was handed to Doc’s best mate at 8.30am the following morning, well in time for the service a few days later. It was a fitting way to have the flag delivered for Doc’s funeral in several ways: As a CFA volunteer, Ops Manager Mick understood the significance of our flag being on the coffin as a mark of respect and the fact that this was organized by a fellow CFA volunteer. That Doc’s flag was delivered by a truck as he was heavily involved with transport and machinery, and: Doc, as one of our CFA driving instructors originally mentored and taught our member and current Simon’s driver Calum Bean to get his truck license. Calum is currently driving a Simon’s triple road train on the Brisbane Darwin run and I have no doubt that Docs mentoring sparked Calums interest in joining the transport industry as a career. This really was a fantastic effort and lovely gesture by Simon National Carriers and our most sincere thanks go to Mick West and the Simon’s drivers involved in making this special delivery. Captain Paul Yandle Emerald Fire Brigade.
