11.01.2022 DIY electrical. Seen a bit of this lately and it's quite scary. In one instance we found fires had started in 3 separate locations at the one property due to the home handyman downgrading cable size and terminating over the sheath behind power points. Both caused high resistance and and started small fires. Luckily the house was still standing but its a scary thought. The worst part about this, was the fact that the home handyman that did this no longer lived at the property.... He had left this behind to unsuspecting future occupants / families. Making electrical items work and making something electrically safe are 2 completely different things. Electrical work is to be carried out by licensed electricians for good reason.
