20.01.2022 This was Flinders Medical Centre at 10pm last night, 23rd September. Each one of those ambulances could have been responding to cases in the community, instead... they were queued on the ramp. If you needed an ambulance last night and had to wait a long time, this is why. It's not good enough. Contact your local MP, the Health Minister Stephen Wade MLC or @SA Ambulance Service to lodge your complaint if you've received delayed service.

17.01.2022 FABRIC - I’ve had a really successful fabric finding week. Some of these were from Spotlight on the weekend.... the rest were all Op shop finds! 15.01.2022 Make 3 for this week - The Demeter top. I altered this slightly .. by making it a little longer and fuller in the hem. If I made it again I would take a little out of the neckline ... it’s a bit gaping for my liking.... especially when I have zero bust. I’ll be wearing a crop top under this for sure. 15.01.2022 So this worked out quite wearable ... it’s the #fentop pattern. After my ‘puff sleeve’ disappointment and my kids giving me their uncut feedback .... like you look like you are wearing a costume from the historical village’ ... and it looks like something your space helmet would clip onto ... I decided to test run this before cutting the ‘good fabric’. . The Fen pattern is very simple (and quick) to make ... so I whipped this up in record time. These were from.a vintage sheet ... I’m still thinking I’ll unpick the sleeves and remove the fullness - I am team ‘no puff’ .... however .. they are stitched and finished with the overlocker and the thought of all the unpicking leaves me cold. 11.01.2022 Taking a break from ‘operation wardrobe clean out’ to share ‘Make number 4’ - This is called the #zoedress from #cottonandchalk - I paid a whopping .50c for the pattern at the Op Shop ... so thought I’d give it a go out of test fabric. Thoughts - it’s got a very full skirt ... even after me taking out quite a bit of the fullness (swing style dresses and puffy sleeves just aren’t me) ... 09.01.2022 NOVEMBER GARDEN - Mmm well things are a little out of control in the garden. I have so much that’s gone to seed .... long and lanky and covering half the beds. My seeding plants are lettuce... rocket ... silver beet ... broccoli and onions. All my new plants are struggling to get going .... maybe the competition from all the gigantic spent plants is too much for them. The snails are bloody pesty still. ... My rhubarb needs to be transplanted somewhere ... it’s honestly hogging an entire raised bed! I’m picking strawberries ... kale ... the odd lettuce leaf ... some spring onions ... rhubarb and herbs. Nothing else is anywhere near ready. 05.01.2022 Oops ... I made another dress last night. This is the #demeterdress ... and I love the shape and fit so much. It’s almost done .... I need to cut off some length and hem.... and finish the top stitching. I made this from a super cheap poplin from Spotlight just to see the fit - yes it’s another test garment (total cost $9 I think ) - I’ll definitely be making this pattern again. I’ve also decided to alter the hem on my #fendress ... 03.01.2022 FABRIC SOFTENER - I NEVER EVER buy that horrible fragranced fabric softener - it’s loaded with nasties ... and in particular phthalates that are known endocrine disruptors. Just pop ‘fragrance and endocrine disruption’ into your search engine and prepare to be horrified. . It’s so simple to replace fabric softener with a healthier option- like vinegar or epsom salts. ... . This is one of the versions I make ... 01.01.2022 HANDMADE I made a test run of the #fendress pattern last night ... I opted for sleeves and a round neck option. Things I learned - I’m glad I made it out of a $3 Op Shop piece of fabric first because I want to make alterations for future pieces. It’s very ‘over size’ so I’ll reduce the sizing ... and I am not a fan of the scoop hem on me so I’ll adjust that to straight. Otherwise I am really happy ... it’s a cinch to make...
