30.04.2022 Feeling for everyone in lockdown- especially those in Melbourne coming to terms with another snap lockdown from tonight. Thanks to Rick Hanson, Ph.D. for this wonderful practice, focusing on the knowledge that we are alright right now. Try it out.

02.04.2022 So many in Melbourne are looking forward to the coming day with excitement and relief. Visiting friends and family. Shopping for clothes or shoes or books or gifts.... Connecting again with community and neighbours in the main street, the cafe, our favourite local vendors. But if you are feeling a little uneasy, a tad nervous, you are not alone. For some, the quieter pace of life over recent months has been nurturing, perhaps enriching. So remember.... .....to take it slow. .....to take a deep breath. .....to take in the good. .... to look out for those around you who might be doing it tough. .... to look out for the children, our elders, ourselves. ..... be like the tree, basking in the warmth of the morning sun. ..... be still, and strong #simplypresent #simplypresentwellbeing #melbourne #melbournelife #bekind #bekindtoyourself #bekindtooneanother

16.01.2022 It’s such a challenging time. Caring deeply for others can sometimes be overwhelming. Sharon Salzburg suggests 3 steps to care for ourselves, and it starts with exploring the difference between empathy and compassion. Check out this short video conversation between Sharon and Dan Harris.

15.01.2022 You are loved just for being who you are, just for existing. You don't have to do anything to earn it. Your shortcomings, your lack of self-esteem, physical imperfection, or social and economic success - none of that matters. No one can take this love away from you, and it will always be here. Ram Dass

14.01.2022 Another beautiful poem for difficult times: Lockdown Yes there is fear.... Yes there is isolation. Yes there is panic buying. Yes there is sickness. Yes there is even death. But, They say that in Wuhan after so many years of noise You can hear the birds again. They say that after just a few weeks of quiet The sky is no longer thick with fumes But blue and grey and clear. They say that in the streets of Assisi People are singing to each other across the empty squares, keeping their windows open so that those who are alone may hear the sounds of family around them. They say that a hotel in the West of Ireland Is offering free meals and delivery to the housebound. Today a young woman I know is busy spreading fliers with her number through the neighbourhood So that the elders may have someone to call on. Today Churches, Synagogues, Mosques and Temples are preparing to welcome and shelter the homeless, the sick, the weary All over the world people are slowing down and reflecting All over the world people are looking at their neighbours in a new way All over the world people are waking up to a new reality To how big we really are. To how little control we really have. To what really matters. To Love. So we pray and we remember that Yes there is fear. But there does not have to be hate. Yes there is isolation. But there does not have to be loneliness. Yes there is panic buying. But there does not have to be meanness. Yes there is sickness. But there does not have to be disease of the soul Yes there is even death. But there can always be a rebirth of love. Wake to the choices you make as to how to live now. Today, breathe. Listen, behind the factory noises of your panic The birds are singing again The sky is clearing, Spring is coming, And we are always encompassed by Love. Open the windows of your soul And though you may not be able to touch across the empty square, Sing. -from Richard Hendrick (Brother Richard) in Ireland March 13th 2020

07.01.2022 Is there something you can do to promote a little more peace in your day? Today, September 21st, is observed around the world as the International Day of Peace....a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace. Here is your invitation to join Victoria’s UN Peace Day Event.

06.01.2022 Grateful to have attended the first online live meditation with the Allevi8 Community, with one of my meditation teachers Ian Gawler. If you'd like to experience guided meditations from one of the pioneers in this field in Australia, I highly recommend Allevi8 and free weekly meditations for subscribers.

05.01.2022 I can't recommend a retreat at the Yarra Valley Living Centre highly enough. Nourishing. Nurturing. Enlivening.

03.01.2022 I love receving Rick Hanson's 'Just One Thing (JOT) Newsletter every week. And this.... this 'One Thing" is now my favourite! . . 02.01.2022 If you’ve been in one of my classes, youll know that self-compassion is a practice I promote and encourage. People who practice self - compassion are less likely to experience burn out. For some excellent resources, check out Kristin Neff and Christopher Germer’s work.

01.01.2022 A great snapshot of the benefits of Jon Kabat-Zinn’s Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program on Catalyst last night. Take a look on iView.
