24.01.2022 Do you prefer young or aged Chardonnay? . I'm always intrigued by what #wine lovers have to say about young vs aged Chardonnay. Lately I've been enjoying Chardonnay on the younger side from 2012 to 2018. .... There has been the odd occasion where I'll have something around 15 years old and I do enjoy that too. All I can say is this @jeanmarcpillot 2015 Chassange-Montrachet Premier Cru is sublime! #simplywinesau #winewinewine . . . See more

23.01.2022 Penfolds Grange 1980. . All I can say is wow! This #wine was pristinely kept and is drinking amazingly well for 40 years young. All you need to do is add cold pizza and you have the perfect pairing.... . PS, thanks to the people who own the abandoned house we borrowed your front garden. Bang bang! #simplywinesau #winewinewine @penfolds @prettysweetmess . . . See more

22.01.2022 Are you a fan of Chablis? . The Chablis fox is back! This famous #wine region is located in the Northeast of Burgundy. It’s separated from the Côte d’Or by the Morvan Hills with the main winemaking town Beaune.... . 17.01.2022 What’s the most expensive Sine Qua Non you’ve seen? . Maybe you’re one of the lucky wine lovers who are on the mailing list. I’m very interested to hear what the prices are like if you are. This cult American #wine can be difficult to find, especially in Australia.... The first vintage was the 1994, Queen of Spades, with only four and a half barrels produced. . If you have any of this 2006 Ventura Raven 3 Syrah, I’d recommend decanting for a few hours. This wine needs a decent amount of air to open up and fully reveal itself. When it does, it’ll knock your socks off! #simplywinesau #winewinewine #sinequanon . . . See more

14.01.2022 Are you a fan of blind #wine tastings? . It’s a fantastic way to test your skills. Can you tell me what wine is being poured into the decanter? 13.01.2022 Can you remember a wine which had a high percentage of alcohol? . Was it enjoyable and what was the alcohol percentage? Enter Chris Ringland Hoffmann Vineyard 2006 Barossa Shiraz. This #wine has a whopping 17% ABV.... It was decanted for 9 hours and I would recommend anyone who has some of this Shiraz to decant it for as long as possible. . Extremely limited production of around 1600 bottles. The grapes are sourced from vines which are between 60-100 years old. Expect to pay $500-$650 per bottle. This is an absolute monster of a wine. It’ll easily cellar for another 20 years. For a wine with such a high alcohol percentage it still exhibited great balance and structure. #simplywinesau #winewinewine @chrisringland . . . See more

11.01.2022 Is there something about Barolo? . Enter Renato Ratti 2012 Barolo ‘Rocche Dell'Annunziata‘. Located in the La Morra area of Langhe. The first vintage was all the way back in 1971.... The #wine is aged for 24 months in French oak. If you have the patience it’ll keep for a good 20+ years. As you can see, there is no patience with @simply.wines ! . This wine will take your breath away! Deep red in colour with aromas of smoked meats and licorice. On the palate it’s full bodied with impeccable structure and balance. The length on this Barolo was astonishing, all I can say is... Shut up and take my Euro’s! #simplywinesau #winenight @renatorattiwinery . . . See more

11.01.2022 Are you a fan of grower Champagne? . Grower Champagne is produced entirely from estate grown grapes. They typically reflect their distinct vineyards and style. .... Enter @David_leclapart L’Artiste Blanc de Blancs. From the village of Trépail, this #Champagne is 100% Chardonnay, crafted from 3 plots biodynamically farmed from 30-50 years old vines. 08.01.2022 Guess the #wine being poured into our decanter? . Points will be awarded for producer, grape variety and vintage. Bonus points for vineyard location and any other information! It’s been a while since we’ve enjoyed this grape variety.... . The dense colour, the alluring aromas and then the taste. The length on this wine was spectacular. #simplywinesau #winewinewine . . . 07.01.2022 What’s the funniest or sad #wine memory you have? . It may have been a Sabrage mishap or you might’ve dropped and smashed a bottle of your favourite wine. A sad memory could be anything from a special wine which was corked or missing out on an allocation. .... The battery operated cork screw is back! I can’t get over this device for some reason. Established in 1983 and located in Yarra Valley, Victoria.... It has a North-Easterly aspect with views of Mt Donna Buang and the Warburton Ranges. . This Chardonnay has a beautiful golden colour with zesty lemony aromas. Complex and balanced on the palate with great mouthfeel. Perfect on any day ending in Y. As soon as we’re allowed to visit we’ll be dropping by! . Bravo Andrew, Shaun and June for producing a superb Chardonnay! Happy Friday wine lovers! #simplywinesau #winewinewine . . . See more

05.01.2022 Have you ever opened a wine, tasted it and thought it was no good... . Then 24 hours later you taste it again and realize the #wine has opened up and completely changed for the better! This is one of those special occasions. Enter @Henschke Hill Of Grace 1991!... . All I can say is... Truly stratospheric! If you think your wine is tasting slightly funny or not the best. Put the cork back in the bottle and then place it in the fridge until the next day. Take it out of the fridge 30 minutes before serving and hopefully it’s changed for the better! . Sometimes wine can do funny things, best to play it safe and keep it for the next day! #simplywinesau #winewinewine . . . See more

03.01.2022 Pick your wine? . Penfolds Bin 389 2004 or Penfolds Grange 1997. Both wines were served blind, what if I told you everyone thought the 1997 Grange was a Bin 389! The 2004 held it’s own against the almighty Grange.... . An awesome experience trying both side by side. 1997 was a tough vintage, very wet conditions and it showed. It still somehow remained balanced and well structured. The 2004 Bin 389 was on fire and drinking in the zone! #simplywinesau #wine #winenight @penfolds . . . See more

03.01.2022 What are your thoughts on Gamay? . Enter Sinapius Esme 2019 Gamay. Located in Pipers Brook, Tasmania. This #wine is 100% Estate grown and sourced from their highest density planted vineyard ... (7700-11,111 vines/ha). The wine undergoes whole bunch fermentation with carbonic maceration for 3 weeks. . It’s matured in old French oak for 7 months and is unfiltered and unfined. From the cool label to lush purple colour, this is a crowd pleaser. Bravo Sinapius. #simplywinesau #winenight . . . 03.01.2022 What’s the oldest #wine you’ve tried and was it still drinking well? . It’s not everyday you have the opportunity to try a 40 year old wine. Let alone a @penfolds Grange 1980. It’s staggering to note this old Aussie battler was still firing on all cylinders!... I put it down to being well looked after and pristinely kept. . The cork was in very good condition, the label unmarked and the fill level above the shoulder. No sign of brown tinge in the colour. Aromas of cassis and vintage leather. On the palate it was balanced with exceptional length. A truly remarkable and memorable wine. #simplywinesau #penfolds . . . See more

02.01.2022 Houston we have a serious problem! . The electric cork screw has struck again! This time it’s run out of batteries! Can you believe the luck of @simply.wines !... Maybe it was terrified of opening this spectacular Bass Phillip 2018 Premium Pinot Noir. . If you’re a Pinot Noir lover then look no further than this very special wine. This is Phillip Jones’ last vintage as head winemaker. The Premium is aged for 18 months in French Allier barriques. The grapes are handpicked from a four hectare vineyard in Leongatha. . A wonderful Pinot Noir when we eventually open the bottle ! In the meantime where is a waiters friend when you need one! #simplywinesau #wine #winewinewine @bassphillipofficial . . . See more

01.01.2022 Is Wendouree Australia’s most cult winery? . If it isn’t what is? This winery has no website, no email and no social media. If you’re one of the lucky few you are then added to the elusive mailing list! . Enjoying an aged Wendouree is one special experience. This 2003 Shiraz/Malbec was absolutely spectacular. Seamlessly integrated with vibrant acidity. All tied in with amazing length. #simplywinesau #wine #winewinewine . . . See more
