14.01.2022 "THE MOST DANGEROUS TIME FOR VICTIMS People from the outside looking in often ask about the victim, Why don’t they just leave? There are many reasons domestic... violence victims don’t leave, but one of them is because they have often heard, If you try to take my kids and leave, I will kill you. Abused victims have ample evidence to believe this is not an idle threat. The process of leaving is truly the most dangerous time in a violent relationship. Many abusers view their family as their property. If they feel they are about to lose this property they can be deadly to themselves, their spouse, children and even pets. The list does not stop here. It is not unusual for this violence to spill out of the home, especially if the victim has managed to get out. On many occasions these stalkers attempt to ruin their spouse’s life by targeting their spouse’s employers, fellow employees, friends and any officers that might try to interfere. Chronic abusers are able to persuade those around them into believing they are wonderful individuals, while successfully hiding their dark side. So skilled are these schmoozers, they often lull officers with their compliance and cooperation into believing one of two things that are totally false. They will convince others including police and the courts either they are the victims."

14.01.2022 If your child is being bullied, should you tell their school, approach the parents of the other child, or just let your child deal with it?

13.01.2022 The Sanctuary Women and Children's Refuge is struggling financially and needs your urgent help. Situated in the Gold Coast Hinterland, this is a retreat and saf...e place or victims of domestic violence with a difference. Not only do we take in women who have been injured through violence but we also take in their children and pets. Some of the rooms are fully equipped to take in babies and children and currently there are babies in care at the facility. The Sanctuary is a relaxing atmosphere surrounded by animals such as goats, pigs, ducks and chickens, where the women are encouraged to interact with the animals who reside there by way of Pet Therapy. A professional team of Doctors, Psychologists and Social Workers are on hand to assist the women in their recovery at the Sanctuary, who are suffering both physical and psychological damage. This is a place for healing women and children, on the Gold Coast which currently has the highest rate of domestic violence in Australia and we need your help to continue. Many women will not leave a home situation because they fear leaving their pets behind but at the Sanctuary, we are equipped to also take in their pets. Currently the Sanctuary is turning away approximately 15 women per day and so we are calling on donations to add another 5 family units to the property to house more women and their families. This is an extremely important project and it cannot be completed without financial assistance. We are hoping to raise $40,000 to build new housing on the property to ensure that we don't have to turn away so many women needing our help. 06.01.2022 Outrageous. With the coronavirus, heightened responses are needed to keep women and children safe during this difficult time. It is not the time to loose focus or reduce system responses which in turn only benefit the abusers

05.01.2022 There can be long term affects on children who witness domestic violence.
