25.01.2022 I want to help; that’s why I got into the fitness industry. I don’t come from an athletic background & I didn’t grow up enjoying exercise - quite the opposite actually (fitness doesn’t come easy to me) so my career choice wasn’t driven by any skill - more just a love for wanting to help you by showing you how I helped myself. When you come to me telling me you’re so sick of hating yourself; I can look into your eyes and relate. I was so sick of hating me too.... When you’re lying on the ground, crying and SO OVER your chronic pain... I can feel that pain too. I’ve been on the floor, felt stuck not just in body but in my mind. I’ve walked into the gym smiling and walked straight out with tears streaming, just like you. I’ve done the diet, I’ve done the starvation, I’ve felt extreme hunger & felt extreme fullness. I know your pain, whilst our experiences are different - I know what it’s like to feel desperate, hateful & stuck. I hated feeling that way, I hate seeing you feel that why. I want to help; regardless of if you love exercise or hate it. Regardless of your age, your history, your goals, your body. I want to help because the help I’m offering was the exact help I wish I had when I felt how you feel. For fitness & mindset coaching in person or online, just reach out via direct message. I’m ready if you are x #thegrounduppt @chevronislandladies
24.01.2022 Saturday training done! Now time for sunshine
23.01.2022 That moment when you achieve something you didn’t know you were capable of... there’s no words to describe that feeling. When there’s no choice but to try, it’s amazing what the human body can accomplish. Replace your ‘I can’t do that’ with ‘What If I Tried’ and the benefits you get, whether you succeed or not will give you so many amazing opportunities.... Flashback to one of the hardest physical accomplishments of my life! @unit27thailand let’s get these borders open up ASAP so I can do it all again #thegrounduppt #unit27
21.01.2022 The long weekend didn’t put a halt in my ground up girls training - in fact I was amazed at how much each girls fitness as improved from our very first session! Check out Em’s deadlifts - 40kg for 4 x 10 reps and looking STRONG! Each week we’ve been able to continuously add weight to the bar whilst maintaining form - all thanks for making sure we did the ground work prior!
20.01.2022 this is my mid ‘wow aren’t we lucky!!!!’ Exclamation face. If you’re reading this right now, you’re lucky! So incredibly lucky to have access to so much! So make use of it. Today’s a public holiday in Australia - instead of spending the day doing housework or prioritising others... I challenge YOU to do something for YOU that makes you realise how lucky you are! Get in a car, explore, adventure, get outside!... The chores can wait. It’s actually not that much planning. Don’t overthink it. Make time for you. Get a little uncomfortable. Grow and prove yourself wrong! You CAN make time for yourself, you CAN live the life you want
19.01.2022 ‘I train everyday but my body looks exactly the same’ Relatable? That used to be something I’d say!... I would exercise every day! I’d do a group class, a walk with a friend, maybe go into the weights room & do ‘my own little thing’ I got small changes but nothing major like the Insta comparison photos. It was more than slightly depressing. ’Maybe my body just doesn’t change ’ Alas I, just like you, aren’t a special snowflake. We’re just naive in thinking to expect big changes from little effort. Yes, perhaps exercising initially was a big step for you! It was for me! But now, you’re bodies adapted & we need to chnage up the old 3 sets of 15 rep scheme & half assing that group HIIT class. My body changed, my strength increased & I became so confident in the gym & my body the moment I became open to guidance & gave my training structure. If you let yourself be open to change & guidance, there’s no doubt about it that you’ll experience the same. It would be my pleasure to show you that you CAN get the body, health & confidence you deserve. 16.01.2022 Yay! My New Year Existential Crisis Over is over! I survived! Anyone else fall into a deep pit of sadness at the start of the year? Yes? No? Just me? Cool. #takeonefortheteam Whilst everyone on the gram seemed so happy & #thriving & excited to be entering into the new year... I woke up on New Years day feeling heartbreakingly sad.... I was confused. Because shouldn’t I feel happy? Yesterday I did! I felt so at home & grateful for the year. Why on earth did I feel sad a day later? I had accomplished so much! Why, why, WHY was I feeling sad? I am so good at being positive, how on earth could I wake up, on a wonderful day, and be sad? What did I have to be sad about?! I’m so lucky! And then I got angry, because I am so lucky. So why am I so sad? And then I became anxious; I began to overthink reasons as to why am sad. Perhaps I wasn’t good enough last year? Perhaps i didn’t achieve enough, connect enough. Perhaps all the friendships I made with people I met weren’t as strong as I think they are and I’ll be alone forever? And then on my walk, nature worked her magic. The sun shone on my skinn; it warmed me up just like a mum hug. I breathed in. I breathed out. I let myself feel; Whilst also acknowledging beauty around me; I let myself feel my sadness. It turns out; beauty can still be acknowledged, even through pain. So if you too are feeling a little low, and perhaps lonely amoungst the sea of people whom are #thriving from the get go of 2021... Know that it’s okay to let those tears out; when you do - your laughter will come through too.
14.01.2022 Saturday’s; full of our favourite fruit & one trip wonders with my sunshine What’s your favourite fruit? Don’t have one? Have you tried Black Sapote?... I am yet to introduce it to anyone who doesn’t like it! They nickname is the chocolate pudding fruit because amazingly that’s actually what it tastes like Apologies in advance if you can’t find any at the Burleigh farmers market, we have become slightly protective of our favourite fruit & tend to buy out the stall holders
14.01.2022 I Feel Self Conscious with my Body. A client was surprised when I told them this yesterday. ‘But why? You’re a PT! You’re fit!’... ‘If Sinead 6 years ago saw me, she’d want to be me for sure! But just like you I see myself every day. I don’t always recognise how my body and fitness has changed over the years. I don’t give myself credit for what I can do. I forget that when I first started fitness just getting to the gym was an achievement! Some days when I see myself I see a lot of room for improvement. But I know that humans are driven by continuous progression and comparison. If I rely on how I look to make me happy I’ll never be happy - there’s always room for improvement. That’s why it’s SO IMPORTANT not to tell yourself ‘I’ll be happy when I look/weigh XXX’ I tried. I looked ‘that way’ and I was ridiculously unhappy and unhealthy. Focus on actions and experiences that make you happy. These build your confidence, your body will change and you’ll have less insecure days. Insecurities will pop up, but they won’t break you. Am I self conscious? Yes. But I see my insecurities as areas I need to grow in and I don’t let them define me as a person. So don’t waste time sweating on feeling bad; do things that WILL make you feel good (laugh, song, get sunshine) and remind yourself EVERYDAY that how you look or may feel ISNT who you are. #thegrounduppt #fitcoveraustralia Wearing @fitcoveraustralia and fresh @dk.active sweat proof shorts (actually sweat proof #amazing!) use Sinead20 to save at checkout xo
10.01.2022 How could you help someone feel strong, supported & extra loved today? A hug, a ‘smile with my eyes’ smile, a giggle and a genuine compliment are my go to’s. #thegroundupgirls
06.01.2022 SAVE this Meal Prep Recipe! Lemon & Parsley Rice; zesty, filling & nutrient rich! Many of the women I coach come to me with the expectation that to lose weight they have to eat ‘’healthy’ & ‘healthy’ is what the ex PT told them which was a diet of egg whites, boiled chicken & broccoli & black coffee.... You will lose weight if you follow the typical body builder diet but baby, it’s no fun! Do you REALLY think you’ll stick to that? Do you really WANT to eat like that? Like... forever? Or perhaps you don’t... and that’s the reason you keep on binging and restricting... I’m all about making food fun! Which is SO important when healing a bad relationship with food. Food can be tasty, colourful & enjoyable.. When you learn to get creative in the kitchen, discover fun new flavours & fresh ways of eating you don’t only extend your flavour palate, confidence with food & your body... but you extend your health journey to life & take control of your body. I love sharing recipes with my coaching clients & encouraging them to add their own spin on the recipes! But enough chit chat - here’s the recipe! LEMON & PARSLEY RICE 1 large cauliflower 1/2 head of broccoli 1 cup of parsley 250g cherry tomatoes The juice & rind of 1-2 lemons Lots of salt & pepper to taste! CRISPY HEMP TEMPEH 300g Tempeh 15mls hemp seed oil 2 TBSP Hemp Seeds For the LEMON & PARSLEY RICE Wash all vegetables & then roughly process cauliflower & broccoli in a blender. Add into a big bowl with chopped parsley & tomatoes. Peel & finely chop lemon & toss rind with lemon juice through salad. Add salt & pepper to taste. CRISPY HEMP TEMPEH Heat pan to medium heat with hemp oil. Thinly slice tempeh & add to pan & covering in hemp seeds. Wait 5-7 minutes until flipping. Let cool & then toss through salad! This recipe makes 4-5 serves & lasts 5 days #thegrounduppt #vegan
06.01.2022 BULLET PROOF COFFEE What actually is it? No, it’s not this magical fat burning caffinated beverage that’ll drop 5 kilos instantly.... It’s just coffee (yum) with a fat source (yum x 2) The fat slows the release of caffine into your system so you enjoy feeling caffinated for longer PLUS have the energy from the fat to fuel you! Whose it for? Those who have desensitised to caffine & find themselves grabbing another not long after there first. #guilty those who get a little bit too hyped off caffeine & need a little slower energy boost! #guiltyalso People who struggle or are ‘too busy’ to get calories or fat into their diet. fat plays a role in satiety levels & caffeine is an appetite suppressant so it can reduce hunger levels If you use a fat with high omegas it will help improve brain function, joint health & hormones some theories say that when in a calorie deficit you MAY also create a further deficit by choosing MCT fat source as it increases the thermogenesis I’ve been enjoying having a bullet proof coffee at the start of my day when I have my Ground Up Girls back to back! They enjoy it too because it means I’m 1. Not hangry when training them & 2. Even more energised than normal! I put @melrosehealth ‘Go For Longer’ MCT Oil in my coffee - but perhaps you like to go faster?
