24.01.2022 Click on this link to watch a video of a Port Macquarie choir singing together on Zoom. It sounds OK even though it doesnt look synchronised. Perhaps because its a very slow piece. The committee did discuss trying this but thought it wouldnt work - looks like we were wrong. 14.01.2022 On the 9th and 10th of November, another chance to hear the wonderful Brett Budgeon singing with SOST. This time he will sing the baritone solo in Faure's Requiem. Brett Budgeon is a Tasmanian-born singer. He studied classical voice at the UTAS Conservatorium of Music, Victorian College of Arts and Queensland Conservatorium of Music. Brett held a choral scholarship with Trinity College at the University of Melbourne, where he cultivated a love for serious choral singing.... He established himself as a music theatre performer in Brisbane and Sydney before settling back in Tasmania. Brett played The Phantom in Andrew Lloyd Webbers Phantom of the Opera at Hobarts Theatre Royal in 2013 for the Tasmanian Theatre Trust. He currently teaches classical and Music Theatre singing at the UTAS Conservatorium of Music. He also starred in Singers of Southern Tasmanias Carmina Burana, performed in July, 2019.

10.01.2022 Singers of Southern Tasmania Inc (SOST) are still looking for more singers to take part in two concerts of Bach's "Mass in A Major" and Faure's "Cantique de Jean Racine" on 13 and 14 June 2020. Conductor: Matthew Anning Concert venue: St David's Cathedral, Hobart Rehearsal venue: Hodgkin Hall, Friends School, Carr Street, New Town... When: Tuesdays from 6:30pm to 8:30pm commencing 4 Feb 20 (arrive early ready for a prompt start). Cost is $150 per person for 20 weeks, which includes all rehearsals, choir membership (PL insurance) and scores. It's still not too late to register your interest please send an email including: Name Voice type Contact details to: [email protected] There are no auditions. Just bring along a pencil, some water and your enthusiasm. If you dont read music, or not well, please dont worry. With the help of online resources, Matts guidance, as well as sectionals you will learn the music without any difficulty.
